  1. Why did we re-sign Weids. Seriously flawed in front of the sticks. Never looks like kicking them even when directly in front! Tommy not that far away either.
  2. Battle for "The AFL's most Irrelevant" Cup. Loser wins!
  3. Cards i am, at this very moment, filling out an official Demonland "Hurt Feelings Report" and will be lodging it promptly with Nasher immediately upon completion!
  4. Reckon a jolly good flogging might just be the tonic needed to get him up and about BBO. He would soon forget about any ankle pain!
  5. Care factor? I assume as CEO he is on a fair salary and not doing it for peanuts or the love of the MFC.
  6. Kinda reminds me of our goal kicking efforts this year
  7. So Dunkley in for Baker and Pruess for Smith. We are going two talls. I'm happy with that as we are basically talking giving two rookies a stint at the big league to see what is needed and then they go back occassionaly to work on their craft. Seems pretty sensible given where the season's at. Smith just can't stay on the park and super unlucky with injury after injury. Might explain the horribilis that was last week's performance, easily the worst output of the year by any MFC player. May have been restricted. I would say he is just too risky to continue gambling with into next year and the FD must be very close to letting him go, if they haven't already made their minds up the red flag must be a good way up the pole.
  8. Tommy has a stint at Casey for Pruess....plays out of the square and relieves Maxy. May to CHF! Angry son of Neita!! I like!!! Does Goody have the gonads though!? Roll the dice Goody...do it!!
  9. Oliver could be a very good leader at some point if he cleans his disposal up. Heard him telling Garlo off in the Magoos one day, Garlo was doing a 'May' on another defender. The difference between the two events was Garlo was the one having a very poor game and Clarry made sure he new it and told him to zip it and lift his game first! I had a good chuckle given Clarry was just a rookie at the time, albeit a damn good one.
  10. Been calling for this for the last 5 years. You have my vote paulo. I would be ecstatic if we got two! Farmer and Ricky my all time favs but both seem a lifetime ago. Another massive MFC recruiting fail over the last 17 years (Jeffy ok but never able to stay on the park and not at a level high enough to worry the opp or the scoreboard in a big way consistently).
  11. Soi i was with you on this until till you mentioned grunt. Leadership yes but not more grunt pls. More burst speed (mids and outsiders), poise and finish with players who can put a bit of space on their opponents, allowing them to steady & hit targets by foot to an AFL standard or better (approx 68% of the time on average). Same needed but for the receive on a lead with players who can hold an overhead mark in general play up the ground and forward (T-mac / Weid??). Finish inludes in front of the big sticks where we are presently abysmal outside of a few. Big clean out needed up forward also but wont happen. Expect more of the same outside of Lockhart in 2020. Pruess might give us something if Goody can bring himself to play him at some point and will def assist Maxy who can also hit the scoreboard occasionaly playing up forward (cameo) assuming someone corrects that last step 'sit back' hook /shank. We've had 2 years to try & still NQR. Worst coaching team I've witnessed at the MFC bar Neeld era.
  12. Its the first time we've been smashed in the middle for some time. Most matches we have won or matched the opp with clearances and similar or better in contested with only a few losses of significance here. Currently ranked 3rd in clearances and 4th in contested (on averages) this season. Yet we are still 4/11 W/L. Goody's over emphasis/imbalance towards crash bash 'numbers at the ball' vs a balance of that style, mixed with an outside run/ tempo possession game, hurts us not just within a match (unless you have your best 20- 22 playing at their peak fitness & in great form a la 2nd half of 2018) but it is also not sustainable from week to week. Too exhausting to maintain for 4 quarters and week to week with a group that has so many NQRs and relative rookies that don't have the tank or AFL level match fitness to pull it off on the rotations. It also hurts us around the ground as we are not maintaining a good balance of inside outside numbers with too many throwing themselves at ground balls and too many flying for marks. This after 2 seasons and 14 matches to ingrain the fix via drills on the training track...so we MUST be training that style! This is Goody's methods/style and what he and the players preach in thier weekly "getting back to the way we want to play" mantra. As other players from other teams have said, "we KNOW If we match them (or better) on the inside, we will get them on the outsid". They can see the imbalance in their weekly reviews highlighted by the opp analysts etc and they know we will almost always over committ too many numbers on the inside and in marking contests without enough (or in some cases anyone) on the outside to cover the escaping player or spilled ball. A terrible forward line hasn't helped either. The amount of times we have failed to score and or not taken a shot even when well within range (passing the buck) and another turnover for the sling shot. The lack of pressure inside 50 and an inability to lock the ball in allowing the opp to waltz out making it difficult to set up / recover defensively (little rest time) Add to this our terrible disposal skills in general, being the 3rd worst in the comp for turnovers (only beaten by the Power & the Dockers), and we are witnessing a terrible Game Style/Skills combo that has us sitting in the bottom quartile with a good chance of winning the spoon.
  13. There is a lot of honesty going on in this thread RBG! Re: Oscar.... He has played the equivalent of 3 seasons and 7 matches more than Petty at the start of the Brissy match. Always going to be a little more scrutiny on his performance vs a complete noob to the game.
  14. June 30, 2019 11:33am Josh GabelichFOX SPORTS Finals not on Rhyce Shaw’s mind yet, but North Melbourne is in the hunt again Rhyce Shaw talks to his players at a break. North Melbourne has recovered from a 2-7 start to 2019 to sit one win outside the top eight with two months to play, but the Kangaroos aren’t dreaming about September yet. Since Rhyce Shaw replaced Brad Scott as caretaker coach at the end of May, things have changed dramatically at Arden Street. Not only have they won three of four games under Shaw, they have changed the way they play, got more out of underperforming young players and smashed premiership contenders Collingwood on Saturday night — holding Nathan Buckley’s team to its lowest score since Round 5, 1995 How caretaker coach Rhyce Shaw has sparked Kangaroos renaissance By Chris De Silva Play Video How Shaw has changed Kangaroos 1 / 20 >< FTQWB North Melbourne star Mason Wood has complimented caretaker coach Rhyce Shaw for simplifying things since taking over for Brad Scott. Since Scott's mutual exit with the club, Shaw has won three of his four games in charge, including the big scalps of Richmond and Collingwood. The Kangaroos were clinical in the 44-point win over the Magpies in Round 15, holding them to their lowest score in 24 years
  15. Player / Team Stats Form Guide To Rnd 15, 2019 vs Season 2018
  16. Player / Team Stats - Weighted Composite Score Rnd 15, 2019 - Lions vs Demons (GABBA) # Hit outs to advantage not accounted for Smith's zero is the lowest statistical score by an MFC player all season. The only worse weighted score by an MFC player since keeping this method from 2018 was Joel Smith with a negative -0.3000 back in Rnd 19, 2018 vs the Crows. 3 effective disposals @ 37.5% efficiency. 1 uncontested mark inside 50, 1 inside 50, 1 tackle, 3 score involvements, 96 meters gained, no goals and 4 turnovers.
  17. Game style and lack of skills/polish Chook. Today was also alot about a lack of two way effort and will to win the clearance. The Lions showed us who wanted it more. Does the game style prevent the development of skill/polish? Focussing too much on crash bash contested vs a balance of class, run, skill and finish on the outside? In addition, where is the structure/discipline/training to hold the receivers on the outside and get it to them effectively (and wide enough) to allow them some space to work into? How many shovel handballs did we witness today that went to a player a few feet away under immediate pressure and/or about to be set upon? After 14 rounds we are still seeing.... - Too many at the coal face for ground balls and an imbalance waiting / holding their structure on the outside waiting for the receive. - Too many flying for marks (regardless of where on the field) - An insane number of turnovers in general play. Skills generally shithouse. - Forwards often running away from a pressured contest mid field or a player under pressure coming off a wing etc instead of presenting on a lead. - 2 to 3 forwards still crashing packs. - Front & square options almost non-existent, bar Lockhart on a few occasions last week. - Bombs to the top of the square without assessing/looking. - Players obsessed with blindly rolling out to their preferred side and playing on without getting back quickly enough behind the mark first and assessing what options they have (or don't have). - Forwards continually not willing to take a set shot at goal and looking to pass the buck to someone else... Jeffy last week from 30 meters, Smith & Tommy today both very gettable goals. Both of those kicks did NOT hit their target. - Blind faith of Goody continuing to play a massively out of form Tommy instead of Pruess.
  18. Too many MFC players didn't want the ground ball today and instead played/sweated the man, often running straight past the contest. Some of our boys didnt want it and most of the Lion mids and others did. Soft as butter and oh so predictable from Goody & Co. The only thing that's changed is we've changed a few coaches. It's the same crash bash 'numbers at the contest' manic game style under Goody that will never win many matches unless you have your top 20 to 22 players in and playing at their best and in peak fitness. Three more years of this trash? The MFC hierarchy will no doubt keep towing the improvement/development line during the entire tenure, hoping the fans will take the bait!
  19. The NQR teasers that will never make the grade to a premiership cup.... Gus T-Mac ANB Smith On the fringe... Weid Hunt Jones (end of an era?) Tracc
  20. Gus's decision to roll and play on, then kick a bomb to no one's advantage sums up what a farce this club is in terms of it's inability to correct major flaws in the way it plays the game. And Goody leaving Petty on Hipgood till nowish after a 4 goal game turning 3rd quarter? We have 3 more years of this BS? Somebody shoot me.
  21. That pretty much sums up Goody. I was over him after Rnd 5. Team is devoid of skills and poise/polish. Just the usual crash bash rubbish.
  22. Rest assured you can always be certain the MFC will spud things up with 4 to 6 spuds that spud up on game day.
  23. Clarry's finish today has been mostly shizen other than one easy short pass inside 50 that found a target. Seriously need to fix that or he'll be known as a ball getting beast but at the same time a turnover king offsetting the good work. I reckon Gus is gone. And T-Mac also. Time to trade both. Seriously flawed teasers who will never take us to the promised land.
