Didn't want to sit around waiting for the ideal outcome re a send off. Pull the pin, make a clean break and as you say Fork, enjoy the after life with a whole lot less stress for the remainder of the season. Handball the mess to Harvey et al and wash his hands of the future outcomes and change of direction (and substantial differences??) the Board had mooted in their discussions.

It may have been Buck's decision made under the uncertainty veil of the Covid calamity DD. Not knowing exactly when there might be a home game exactly and just wanting a clean fast break seeing the writing on the wall? Also if they are looking to sign up a new suitor or about to and get in before someone else does then the board might have felt they had to move sooner rather than later. Having said that (and not knowing the mechanations behind the scenes), assuming they aren't in a rush to sign someone else up, the fact they haven't given one of the greats and a long term coach of the club a send off match would seem to be pretty poor form from an uninformed outsiders view. It's not like they're going places in the next month or two, even with a new Coach.

Very similar smell to us in 2015/16. List has a very good feel to it in patches with a a fair few holes still to be filled. Question marks over fitness and ability / willingness to butter up both ways for four quarters. Sound familiar? Walsh, Cripps, McKay, Martin, Fischer, De Koning, Pittonet, Saad Alot of work to do with developing the young fellas and list management as well as aspects of the game, particularly on defence. Teague appears to be a tad overwhelmed of late. Get some serious senior support in to bolster a la Roos or Lyon and some others at fitness / skill level and who knows. Thought they were surprisingly impressive for 3 quarters against us at the G. Turn the ball over alot though even when not under a stack of pressure. Might be a few rumblings at the top and some sorting needed there as well with Juddy apparently a no show much of the time? Need to get alot right in the next two years to become a serious footy team IMHO but it's possible.

Not unsung at all. He's a very handy developing player built ready for AFL. Is he at the level of a Viney yet? Of course not. Might he get to that level? With a few more pre-seasons and experience sure. Lots of work ahead before he gets there though. And the AFL machine is a super tough environment. Enjoying watching his journey so far with some very nice passages of play happening. Looks very composed around goals already and loves a snag!

Not a big fan of this combo. I have no hard evidence to back this up but from all the visuals over the years, my impression (rightly or wrongly) is that they are too often flying for the same mark and spoiling each other. I have no answer for why. Maybe similar running patterns? I also don't believe there's room for both Weid & BB in the same team as T-Mac when he's in (this year is obviously a lock unless injured...touch wood). Both are pretty awful at ground level and also at defending / pressuring inside 50. I don't think we can afford that plus Fritschkrieg not so good in this area either. That would make pretty much 50% of our regular forward line ineffective once the ball hits the deck and/or is turned over to the opp (if all of T-Mac, Weid & BB were in that is). So yeh we need to sort the best combo out in the remaining half and preferably well before the final round in order for that combo to settle. Who knows, our best forward set up might not have either BB or the Weid in it. Just good old Tommy with LJ as the secondary resting cameo TF.

People comparing Sam and BB's statistical performances over such a short period of 3 to 4 weeks and using them (even in part) to decide who is the anointed one is crazy bad analysis. You need at least 6 to 8 games minimum in any season (from each player) to get a true indication of how any player is fairing staistically vs another/others. Form is a different matter and something you can more obviously see over a three to four week block of games. And i mean see. No stats needed. It would appear to be quite clear that in a form sense neither player was setting the world on fire and IMHO neither has a clear edge on the other at this point (of this season!). In a career sense (based on pure career stat averages which is dangerous in isolation in terms of short term present form) ...BB does have the Weid covered (in some cases just) or well beaten in pretty much every aspect of the game including tackles inside 50 (just), contested marking inside 50 and on a lead, pressure acts, score involvements, contested & uncontestedball, ground ball gets inside 50, intercept possessions and goal kicking including accuracy (by a fair margin). Has BB lost that ability since joining the MFC? I highly doubt it but he might not be playing at or near his best at present. Is the Weid overtaking BB in a these areas. Probably not just yet. Is he capable? Sure. Is it likely to happen given enough time? Who knows. How much time is enough time?

The worm commenced it's major turn on Saturday Sept 12th Rnd 17, 2020 vs the Giants IMV. We have gone from strength to strength since then. All credit to SG, the entire FD and the club itself. Still a very tough half season to go though and plenty of good teams out there. The old enemy is up and coming off a very nice win against the Crows on their home turf. Nose to the grind stone fellow minions. We can't take our eye off the ball for a second.

There are two up at our local Mt Waverley SC also. They blatantly sit in the middle of the square on an under cover seat and thumb their nose at the world and enter the shops without one as if nothing's changed. This went on all through 2020 also. I spoke to a police sarj about this and he said they don't have the resources or the wherewithal to bother with it.

Yep as long as no one with covid gets on, copious amounts of beer (bare minimum Stone & Wood), top shelf whiskies, enough room for the G and 18 AFL teams. Pie/Essendrug and Hawk flogs get their own boat! Throw in a few spare WAGS plus a red room and Beelzebub's your uncle! Set Sail....destination Sth Pacific Islands then on to the Bahamas. End quote. Then there's the issue or how long will each vaccine last? 6 months? A year? Maybe less? Jury is still out and in depth studies in to each vaccine will be needed before we even know this...and against each of the variants. No doubt vaccines are helpful but they're still not the holy grail to fully opening up and an end to this mess.

If 100% of cases are linked or there are no mystery / non-linked cases at all I'm not quite sure why we have to continue in lockdown and why the QB (say at 50% capacity) has been cancelled. We should be coming out of SNAP lockdown by Weds. The risks are now miniscule surely. Unfortunately this Gov continues to over play the threat well past any minor risk has long since passed and those infected or potentially infecting other close contacts are being managed and the bulk of them isolating. Snap in....snap out once the risk has passed and it's under control?

Being a short ground .... the kicks from outside 50 will be going a little deeper into the 30 zone more often. Keep the same number of talls but go taller IMV. Bring in your tallest forward. Big M pushes forward at times also. Stretch the opponent. It's a no brainer for mine. BB in for Weid and instruct him to play deep. T-Mac plays the CHF role other than when BB is resting. Fritschlrieg mostly leads out to the flanks. Leaving BB and/or at times (when benched) Big M & T-Mac one out with Kozzie at the drop.
