WELCOME TO DEMONLAND: DANIEL TURNER
A very nice debut. Some work needed on the mullet though before he becomes the real deal... a great example for ya here son ☝

Jones, Brown or Sparrow
Why only one option when there's clearly two serious candidates on the discussion table after yesterday? (Jones and Brown).
- Michael Hibberd now Immortalised.

Weighted Average Scores up to & including Rnd 15, 2021 vs 2019 Salem holding on to 2nd just ahead of May/Gawny*. Harmes jumps into the top 5 again but realistically probably sitting around 6th once Max* gets a "Hit Outs to Advantage" bump up (to roughly 3rd/4th alongside May). Kozzie continues to fall away from his early season form and Jones pushes back into the top 22 without setting foot on the turf since Rnd 7 Player 2021 Score 2021 Rank 2019 Score % Change vs 2019 2019 Rank Change in Rank vs 2019 C Oliver 5.393 1 4.643 16.15 1 0 C Salem 4.094 2 3.658 11.92 3 1 Steven May 4.057 3 2.446 65.86 14 11 C Petracca 3.873 4 2.616 48.05 10 6 J Harmes 3.675 5 3.850 -4.55 2 -3 Jake Lever 3.579 6 2.313 54.73 17 11 Max Gawn # 3.550 7 3.256 9.03 4 -3 Ed Langdon 3.392 8 Jack Viney 3.283 9 3.068 7.01 5 -4 James Jordan 3.165 10 A Brayshaw 3.060 11 2.894 5.74 6 -5 T McDonald # 2.652 12 2.150 23.35 19 7 Jayden Hunt 2.646 13 1.958 35.14 22 9 M Hibberd 2.595 14 2.124 22.18 20 6 L Jackson # 2.523 15 Trent Rivers 2.480 16 M Brown* 2.475 17 A Tomlinson 2.475 17 K Pickett 2.391 19 Oskar Baker* 2.325 20 1.714 35.65 29 9 Nathan Jones 2.214 21 2.711 -18.33 7 -14 Alex N-Bullen 2.209 22 1.984 11.34 21 -1 Tom Sparrow 2.185 23 1.075 103.26 37 14 Bayley Fritsch 2.035 24 2.641 -22.95 9 -15 Charlie Spargo 2.029 25 1.375 47.56 35 10 J Melksham 1.984 26 1.931 2.74 23 -3 H Petty 1.897 27 1.905 -0.42 24 -3 Neville Jetta 1.865 28 2.264 -17.62 18 -10 Ben Brown # 1.575 29 S Weideman 1.055 30 1.818 -41.97 27 -3 K Chandler* 0.250 31 Average Team Score - Top 22 68.49 59.62 14.87 Hit outs to advantage not captured * Only played one match not an average score Stats courtesy of footywire.com

Nathan Jones
He will get his chance in the 22 before the years out me thinks. Possibly sooner than many think. The old warrior isn't done just yet.

CASEY DEMONS: Rd 11 vs Essendon
I'll second that and go one further that we will struggle to make a PF (not to be confused with a Picket Fence!) if we don't. However that also depends on him finding somewhere near his best form in a block of 3 to 4 games if he is given the chance. Scoreboard pressure and marks inside 50, bringing ball to ground, forcing opp to place their best tall defender on him and our only genuine (accurate) goal kicking forward option (out to about 50 meters) should not be underestimated. Taking the Opp's best tall defender will also see T-Mac getting the 2nd best defender where he often seems to blossom, benefiting the team as a whole. T-Mac playing higher and BB deep with occasional swap over also seems to be a decent pairing. With others leading to the flanks this should open things up for the small crumbers to feed off a bit more often. At the moment our structure and method forward of center is a big mess. Add to that all forwards inability to kick accurately from more than about 35/40 meters. Fix these forward issues and i think we can go all the way to a GF. Ignore it and i think it will catch us out at the pointy end and we'll all be bemoaning "the season that might have been....again".

CASEY DEMONS: Rd 11 vs Essendon
Jones is a must in for Sparrow IMV. Bowie is still a little way off although this might be only two or three Casey games off if he can turn it on a little. Kozzie & Spargo are both on the fringe and would need to improve from here. At least one of them is in danger if the pressure comes from Casey options. That would also depend on whether the VFL / Casey continue to play through Covid from here though. If it doesn't i can't see either coming out unless injured.

CASEY DEMONS: Rd 11 vs Essendon
Melk got better as the game went on PF. My bug bear with him (mostly at senior level) is that in congestion he too often wants to hand responsibility to others and panic handballs into trouble as first option to avoid the heat. Seemed to get down and dirtier though improving in this aspect in the 2nd half and his ability to evade and dangerous kick came into play providing plenty of serviceable ball and connecting i50. Was in the top 6 for mine today. Vanders similar. Started off a little Rusty but came home like a train in the 2nd half. At this level he is mostly solid. I just feel the speed of the oppo & game catches him out a little now upstairs but who knows. He might prove me wrong and force his way in at some stage. Bowey was ok in patches. Still a fair bit of work ahead before he is ready for mine. Thought the 2nd half of Rosman was a beauty and showed some of what we have to look forward to in seasons to come. Baker was the other who shone on the far side wing for mine. Aside from one or two poor entries he was in everything and his run off half back was superb. Delivered the ball quite nicely i50 at times and 2nd efforts were there. Lockhart had a very nice quarter and a half from about half way through the third. Bedford had a nice last quarter as well.

CHANGES: Rd 16 vs GWS
Chunk tore it up today in the first 3 quarters at Casey and was easily BOG. BB, while not starring, still did well given the delivery and limited opportunities plus a cheapy out the back but he held his Depth and the eyes/kick from Rosman was a beauty that suggests he will be knocking on the door at some stage next season. All class. The other reason you bring BB in is for his marking i50 ability. The more contested/leading marks we take the better it will be for our mids/HBs and forwards to set up for the lock it in / repeat entry attempts and will also give them a chance to recover aerobically while BB is taking his Denis Lillee run up for goal. Sparrow was solid but Chunk is still either his equal or often a fair way ahead at this point. And part of this is trust / consistency. Chunk rarely doesn't put in a serviceable or better game whereas Sparrow is too hit or miss at this stage of his career. So for mine it's... IN: Chunk & BB OUT: Fritschkreig & Sparrow

CASEY DEMONS: Rd 11 vs Essendon
Watched a different game to me RPFC. The big man did his job and did it well. Stayed mobile, presented well. Ran hard both ways. Took some ruck contests and got involved in some decent links of play. Marked overhead from behind and on the lead (creating space on his tall opponent). Kicked accurately from distance. He even hit up the Weid at one point who went back and missed. One game doesn't a summer make but he's earned a call up for a block of games starting this week. He looks more match ready (fitter) than his early season fail. Lucifer knows we need a genuine tall marking target who can hit the scoreboard from anywhere 35 to 50 meters. Most of our other forwards are serviceable at best but most can't kick beyond 35/40 and even if they do on rare occasions the distance is mostly beyond them which sees them too innacurate. The question is who comes out? Fritschkreig must be under some consideration. Tried hard last night but he is a forward and kicked zero goals, 1 tackle and only 6 effective disposals. Was easily in our bottom 3/4 players last night.

Pretty sure Hunt was on Tippa most of the evening. Zero goals from a bloke who usually tears us a new one most of the time. I'll take that. Thanks Hunty

If Ben Brown doesnt play the rest of the year
There is no point finding those targets, even on a slight 45 angle if very few of them can even make the distance let alone kick accurately THB. Harmes probably the exception with distance from around 40/45 at present. Sparrow and Tracc were the only ones that seemed capable tonight and you are not going to kick too many winning scores against the top 5/6 clubs relying on those two players finding their range and accuracy neither of whom are designated forwards. The forward line failed to stand up again tonight. It needs fixing. Even if it means bringing in Mitch Brown for a stint in place of Fritsch maybe? The door is open anyway and changes might come down to who performs at Casey tomorrow.

If Ben Brown doesnt play the rest of the year
Along with all the other assets if he plays deep he will also straighten us up. All these zany kicks to the pockets for little chance of a goal is killing us on the scoreboard.

Be very surprised if we win this. Super slack marking around the ground. We gave then way too much room from all the way down back in the goal square and allowed them to pick their way up the field yet again
