  1. Not thrilled about this, but I'll wait to see the full fixture before I go on an abusive rampage about what a load of sh*t this competition is
  2. He is going to help Jones carry the leadership burden, which is I think the single most important part of getting Lewis to the club. We still lack mature leaders. Only so much we can expect from guys like Viney, Brayshaw, Oliver etc., and to me Vince isn't a great on field leader. Lewis brings the sort of game-winning game-turning maturity that we desperately need on the field!
  3. My Essendon mate texted me as soon as the deal went through and said "he's a f*&cking fighter, you'll love him"
  4. And because we don't wanna waste good picks next year upgrading players. Might as well do it this year with late 4th/5th round picks.
  5. Why? Hibberd is a very very good player, and will make a great structural difference to our side, by allowing Hunt and Salem to play wings. He is in his prime at 26. Pick 29 has a 50-50 chance of being a dud. We have so many kids on our list, draft picks aren't what we need right now. Good deal, and welcome Hibbo. My Essendon friend is crying into his coffee as we speak!
  6. I wish him luck, he is probably too good a player to spend the rest of his career in the VFL, he just doesn't fit our plans. Plenty of clubs desperate for a defender, could do a lot worse than him.
  7. This is a brilliant move. We absolutely lack mature leadership. This takes so much pressure off Jones, and Bernie who I think is on his last legs. It means we have someone who can mentor our young players, and show them what it takes to be part of a premiership club, while also being a big body to support our developing mids and help push them when things are not going our way during games. I strongly believe that Goodwin has his eyes firmly set on making finals next year.
  8. We should keep talking to him. You just never know. We obviously have a soft spot in his heart and money in the cap.
  9. My question is, how the hell does Geelong afford his salary? Geelong and Hawthorn's salary caps are like Mary Poppins bag.
  10. Always nice when you think someone has died, but then they return.
  11. And it's not just about goal numbers. He was very good in the ruck, so he is much more versatile than Dawes or Hawkins in that respect. I was a massive critic of his, but boy did he prove me wrong. As already said, if he never plays again, he would still be worth that insane contract!
  12. No doubt the biggest missing piece on the list is a 2nd ruck/forward. It is a very difficult position to fill, and one Boyd nailed on GF day. The rest of our list is looking pretty strong, with potentially another half forward to be added, which you can always snare later on from another club.
  13. Really? I watched the game with a Sydney supporter and even she agreed that the umpiring was fine. Did not influence the game whatsoever.
  14. Everyone has help, but you can't compare the armchair rides that a club like Sydney gets, or GWS, or the favorable draws of Collingwood/Carlton/Essendon etc The Dogs lost two key players to GWS, including their gutless captain who walked out on his team. What a lovely vindication to see his replacement dominate today.
  15. Fantastic win and a victory for all small foundation clubs who don't get regular AFL handouts and advantages. Anything is possible. I have hope after watching this win!
  16. So hopeful the Dogs win. It'll be a victory for all foundation clubs who have had to fight significant disadvantages in a competition focused on making the big clubs bigger and the interstate clubs richer.
  17. Gawn's reaction after getting robbed every round is gold. Pretty much the only semi entertaining thing about the most boring thing on TV since a Ross Lyon press conference.
  18. Jetta stiff not to win. Bartel's high profile is why he got the award.
  19. Apart from Oliver, Weids and Hullet, every Melbourne listed player out there should get the cut on Monday. Seriously [censored] poor!
  20. Amazing result for football. Finally! The Dogs lost so many players both to the franchise clubs and through injury. It is a credit to them to make the GF from 7th spot! Watching them win last night made me realize that with some talent and a whole lot of will, anything is possible. If that was Melbourne playing last night I would have had a heart attack. Then cried on the siren.
  21. Makes you wanna puke when you see all these sell outs and free picks running around on the verge of making the grand final. If there is a footy god, Doggies get up!
  22. Oliver is cramping. Has reached max tackling output!
  23. This Oliver kid is pretty good. We should draft him. Spencil's kicking still all class.
