How much more can you take as a supporter?
Striker475 replied to Mongrel Dee's topic in Melbourne Demons
So 3 weeks? -
Yeah, there is. It's for the supporters. It's not going to achieve [censored] onfield right now, I agree. But it says to us, us who are putting up with this garbage, that 'well we aren't putting up with this anymore and change is required.' It at least gets the ball rolling. We all go from being despondent about the current problems to going 'well this year is a write-off, sure. But who will help us get on the right track?'

To be honest, and I'll be blasted for this, I'm pretty much done for the year. I'm really happy that I don't get in on my membership next week as I'm definitely not putting myself through it, and then the week after is in Perth. 3 weeks is Hawthorn at the 'G, and then it's QBD. I'll probably go on QBD for tradition as much as anything, but the Hawthorn game...I got spat on and threatened last year and had a torrid time of it in the crowd. Coupled with the fact that I won't have a single comeback on-field I don't know that I can do it. It's just getting too hard to put up with. I'm as emotionally invested as anyone, and to cop it week on week, year on year is really starting to take its toll. I really just want to take a step back and enjoy other things rather than keep getting beaten around by this pack of spuds. -
was my first thought also

Half Time address from Peter Jackson Yesterday
Striker475 replied to Slartibartfast's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'll do it. I know [censored]-all about running a football club, but I damn well have some empathy with those of us in the 'cheap seats' - after all, I sit in one! EDIT: On that note, I may actually talk to the old man. He's mid-50s, looking to step back from his role in business. He's taken a relatively small gantry crane company and built it into one of the best and biggest companies in the industry over the last 15 years. He left the company in the mid-90s and was headhunted to come back when they were on death's door; resurrected them and they're now expanding overseas. He's also a bloody passionate Melbourne man. -
See thread title.

Possibles: Ayres, Choco Williams, Rocket Eade, Roos, Worsfold, Sheedy.

Yeah, I'm in. I don't know why he's ignored. Created a monster at Port.

Keep: - The Joneses - Grimes - Clark - Garland - TMc - Viney - Toumpas - Hogan - Trengove - Howe Maybe keep Magner. Sack literally everyone else. We'll get a PP. Just load up in the draft. Literally go through the PSD and take 20-odd players at the tail end of the PSD. Guys that have stuck it out in the state leagues and had a crack. We may find a couple of crackers there, you never know. And if not, cut and keep going.

4. Gawn 3. M Jones 2. Viney 1. Howe Stuff the 5 and 6

I think they've just gone LTI on the safe side, sure it's a 6-week injury but that means if it's a 100% repair he'll get two full weeks of training to make sure it's okay before he returns. Plus it gives them the Magner option, like how they LTI'd Gawn in the pre-season just to be safe in case they wanted to elevate Magner for Rd1.

Give Jack Watts a run in the ruck: Robert Walls.

Tis not just cattle. How about some continuity? Look at Sydney. While they've turned players over, who have been the staples? Goodes, McVeigh, Mumford, O'Keefe. Geelong? Chapman, Bartel, Enright, Kelly. Hawthorn? Mitchell, Hodge, Franklin, Roughead. Collingwood? Pendlebury, Swan, Maxwell, Cloke. The sides that are top right now, or are rolling over, have had a solid core of players who have been around for a number of years who are trusted to show the younger guys the way. Take an example, Collingwood. Their side has changed since 2010. But there are players who are the same and who are constant. Maxwell, Swan, Pendlebury, Thomas, Cloke, O'Brien and Jolly are all picked assuming they're fit. It's been a staple. The same can be said for a bunch of the sides at the top. You can't just strip out everything and expect it to change. The problem is we stripped out everything under Bailey and then Neeld realised that not only did it not work, but he had to find something to replace it with.

Realistically, 14th is as high as I can see us finishing - GWS, Bullies and Lions all having serious issues too. GC not so much but I think they've stalled.

Doc Larkins is the WebMD of footy people, can we just wait and see please? They've confirmed it's not Lisfranc. -

Shaw is a [censored] of the highest order. Howie on the other hand...in terms of his marking people are starting to put him into the Knights/Ablett/Modra bracket of great aerial artists. And to be honest, I think he's going to be remembered better than the lot. I've truly seen noone like him. That mark over Embley was just outrageous, and his one from the kick-in yesterday was almost regulation from him!

Send Max into the ruck.
