  1. No, it's a direct result of a lot of things though this is a contributing factor. It's not like Schwab wouldn't have become CEO if we had more senior players.
  2. I thought that would have been pretty obvious bb... Who else is going to play that position?
  3. Nutbean is spot on in my view. All of these new draftees have come into an unsuccessful club which lacks any kind of stability... constantly changing coaches and management. The attitude of a few of these people was total rubbish, resulting in cultural stuff ups like the tanking saga. With the big clean out of older players between 2007 - 2010 these young players lost the quality players which would have had a huge hand in helping them develop into senior footballers, leaving them looking up to the other recent draftees and a couple of mainstay players like Jones and Dunn, who were young themselves. Being a financially struggling club, our coaches have been generally second tier which would also hinder the players development. Anyway, the point is that all of these kids could play before they came in to our club. A combination of shattered confidence and poor development is the main cause of their decline. The only player I believe was probably never going to succeed at this level was Cook and that was just a huge blunder. The others have at one time or another played pretty well and then stagnated - Morton and Trengove prime examples. Toumpas will succeed because in terms of attitude and development, we are on the right track. And he's a good footy player.
  4. I'd love to see Kent back in but only if his fitness is up to standard. Evans should come in. I wouldn't mind seeing Terlich thrown into the middle, either.
  5. That's ridiculous. For all we know, Fitzy has never played back and Cameron is one of the most dangerous forwards in the league, we'd be throwing the game away with that move. Keep McDonald or Frawley on Cameron and the other (or Pedo) on Patton.
  6. And it was weeks ago. We've been in a steady decline since, for whatever reason.
  7. I think Toumpas' first couple of games in his second season have been far from all doom and gloom. He's developing at an okay rate and I think we knew what we were getting with him. His skills are great and his pace isn't as bad as some on here are claiming. He'll be okay for us. Having said that, I was keen on Wines the whole time and in hindsight he'd be preferable, but I still think we've got a decent player on our hands with Jimmy T.
  8. I think it's pretty clear we'll be looking at KPF's anyway... haven't you watched our last couple of games?
  9. Pederson does work hard but it's all for nothing when his agility, leap and pace match that of an obese hippopotamus.
  10. In terms of players today... Nathan Jones is an absolute warrior and definitely the most underrated and under appreciated player in the league. Cross was great, Vince and Terlich solid but Tyson wasn't as impressive for me as most seem to think. He finds the ball easily but was pretty fumbly today and his disposal was questionable at times. Having said that, he'll be a great player for us. Jack Trengove is summarised by the word 'plodder' and I don't know if he'll ever be more than that. His pace is frustrating and sometimes the way he goes about it makes me question his urgency. Watts' career will be a rollercoaster of up and down games, excellent one week and bloody frustrating the next week. Last week hurt more for me, probably because it was a game we really lost ourselves but I'm actually impressed with how quickly we've turned around our possession count and statistically, we were pretty even with them today... except on turnovers and probably efficiency. Anyway, we have to win next week.
  11. Templeton is nothing but a long haired lout.
  12. Can we please make sure Cam Pederson gets a berth?
  13. I know we desperately need a superstar however I'd rather us develop a base of 10 very good players first and then worry about this.
  14. Jones would have to be the most underappreciated player in the modern era.
  15. So if Salem debuts in round 10 and picks up a nomination, what will you be saying then?
  16. Your patience is astounding my young padawan.
  17. It seems like more of an inevitable outcome than an aim these days.
  18. Nah NicNat jumped high a couple of times, so he's forever better.
  19. Didn't need Bernie to point that one out. We've been lacking a superstar for a long, long time.
  20. I was disgusted last night but in hindsight, there've been some really good improvements. Our disposal count turn around from last season was huge and it was just those turnovers which really cost us. Once they are stamped out for the most part we'll be cruising. Dunn and Watts under Roos so far have been very impressive and there were a few times where we really strangled the Saints and they couldn't get it out of their defensive 50. On the other hand, that was one of the few games we really should have won this year.
  21. I was really impressed. His disposal was (as usual) impeccable and although he still wasn't as tough in the contests as others (he never will be) Watts has amazing awareness with the ball, that only a couple of the others in the side come close to.
