McLean was ok But Judd was BOG by a mile today

no votes so far for Bruce? Apart from that kick, thought he was easily one of our best

Sounds like a pretty dumb idea to me Can't see any AFL side losing to a state based side, even with our pathetic recent form. In fact I'd even go as far as saying we wouldn't lose to the best possible side you could make up of VFL players Your much likely to get upsets in soccer than you are AFL - because all it takes is one defensive slip up, or one individual act of brilliance, and a team can win 1-0. In AFL you pretty much have to be the dominant side for the majority of the game to get the win

I'm 'Whatever it takes'

Not surprised given our form, but pretty shocking for our club to only have 1 player listed, in 80 of the top players of the competition and lets be honest, Jeff is only in there, cause all of the good ruckmen come from outside of Victoria
-
A mid-season retirement would allow him to play for the rest of the season

what a hit!!!! haven't seen anything like that in football in a long time you'd hope 6 as a minimum

Sandringham looking for a FF this week ...
IWAP replied to Beach Road Bazza's topic in Melbourne Demons
Just a question slightly off topic Can anyone tell me what happens with the Collingwood or Geelong VFL sides, play a non-alligned sided like Frankston or Port Melbourne. Does the 12-10 rule still apply? If so, what do the excess AFL listed players do? -
Tiger turf is 'crap', says Demetriou "Demetriou said the AFL was prepared to intervene in a bid to allow Richmond to train once a week on the MCG for the rest of the season, adding that the Tigers' ground was also too small and several years away from any significant improvement." What the hell? Isn't this our ground that we aren't even allowed to train on?

True - we'll never know exactly who we would have chosen, the best we do is go by speculation and expert opinions at the time But if i remember correctly: Cooney was guaranteed to be the number 1 pick, and in hindsight, rightly so Sylvia was tipped to go number 2, but Carlton chose Walker instead (would take Sylvia over Walker any day) We were tipped to take either Mclean, Ray, Bradley, Tenace, or Riley Dunn. The only players drafted after Mclean that I would love to have in a Melbourne team from that draft (excluding Heath Shaw, Mark Blake as father son selections) are: Brent Stanton (13) Jed Adcock (33) Amon Buchanan (45) Sam Fisher (55) Ben Hudson (58) Andrew Raines (76) I'd still choose McLean over any of them (although had to think about adcock) 2003 National Draft Agree with Jerry .... definitely a stinker of a draft

Good point - we should have gone for one of the next 5 players drafted after Mclean: Bradley, Tenace, Raphael Clarke, Trotter, and Riley Dunn

You would think the next few games could be CJ's last chance to impress as an AFL footballer Hope he proves to us all that he can play well in the big time
-
Give him a chance. There has only been one Sandringham game so far this year, and from BFBR's report, its not like he played badly. Nathan Brown from Collingwood, was languishing in the Williamstown reserves side for parts of last year, and only really showed something at the start of this year Plenty of time

Looks like you may get your wish Jack New Demons AFL coach intent on attack New Melbourne coach Dean Bailey has pledged not to take an ultra-defensive approach against reigning premiers Geelong despite the Demons' disastrous opening to the AFL season...........

Fantastic work Frank Its really worth the listen (even if it takes ages to download - if you have slow internet like me) Gardner does seem to handle himself quite well when coming under fire. Remains calm, sticks to the question, even when Dr Turf came straight out and said that he didn't think the board was competent. KB - not sure if he was playing Devil's advocate to try and generate a positive response from Melbourne supporters, but was very dissapointed in his comments I plan to call up tomorrow

The pick 14 the Pies traded for Wood, was on-traded to us for Johnstone And we traded Meesen for a third-round pick, not second I must admit, Wood has looked quite promising for the Pies in the first 2 rounds this year. But agree with Nasher, if Grimes lives up to the hope surrounding him, he will be a better pickup

It may be time for some of our senior players to spend some time in Sandy, but i don't think this is the week to do it Its the toughest assignment in football, and we have to do everything we possibly can to avoid a similar scorline to the last few weeks We may not be able to win it, but i still think the side is capable of giving them a shake Kids like Weetra, Garland, Maaric, Martyn - would not gain a thing by playing this game. Just would have the best seats in the house to watch an awesome team play. This week my ins would be Rivers, Whelan, Yze and Holland (if available).
-
nothing - we have no chance still doesn't make it the most uneven match of Australian Rules football since 1858
-
yep cause thats what i'm claiming ....... can't be bothered arguing this one with you, when you've avoided what i've said completely
-
we may be the equal longest odds to win a game (since official betting on AFL matches started) but the headline is still pure fabricated sensationalism
-
I know we are a rabble at the moment But does our form (and Geelong's) really justfiy the headline: Dees and Cats in biggest mismatch in 150 years Not to mention the fact that West Coast were quoted at the same price a few years ago against Carlton
-
I find this point quite intriguing There would be tens of thousands of people on the waiting list. Many would be Dees supporters, many unaffiliated. But i don't see it being in the MCC's interest to give us access to that information
-
Not that I'd particularly like to re-start this debate But surely at this point, we can put the merger issue behind us. People like Ridley, Walker, Guest would probably admit, they made the wrong decision at the time (I know Ridley has) And I know there are question marks over the way they went about things But I don't doubt that they thought they were doing the best thing for the club Time to forgive? Do we have enough prominent Melbourne supporters out there, to keep holding a grudge?
