I think it would be helpful for the people poo-pooing the idea of recruiting someone like Skipper, to nominate their preferred ruck combination for next year. Skipper is a stop-gap solution, but so is Paul Johnson. The only difference is Skipper is better than Johnson, and we could potentially have him on the rookie list, and free up a spot on the senior list by delisting Johnson.
-
Chris Pelchen was on SEN this evening, and intimated that Skipper was delisted, because Hale would be doing his role, ie. rotating between the ruck and up forward, and they already have 5 ruckman on the list (btw also mentioned that Tuck has the oppurtunity to earn himself a spot on the rookie list if he trains well) Skipper is no star, but fits our needs, and has already shown to be effective in the role we will want him to play.

Skipper and Muston are the surprises for me. I'd have Skipper over Paul Johnson anyday.
-
Good news to hear. I wonder if he is being kept in a player development role, rather than a match-day role to avoid any potential conflicts of interest down the track.
-
Delist, and look to rookie Jamar insurance (perhaps even Johnson if he is around)

According to the SpyandSource twitter: "Expect Melbourne to use pick 52 for Josh Hill "

You could argue Richmond signing Ben Cousins, and Essendon sacking Knights was in part due to supporter backlash Not that I agree that Dees supporters are influencing our negotations on Hale

I don't think he is the type of player we are looking to recruit, but I reckon he is going a bit underrated on this thread. Nice pair of hands, good on a lead, and great kick for goal. Kicked 50 goals last year as a 22 year old. Had a serious shoulder injury in pre-season this year, and from all reports is taking time to recover.

But close to nothing around the ground is what we get from PJ every time he plays. Averaging 9 possessions per game for the season, the most he got was 12. Newton didn't play that well - but still got 16 possies against Port. They are both imcompentent in the ruck as far as I am concerned. Edit: Beat me to it Bob!
-
I don't think Newton played that well last week - but I reckon he offers more as a 2nd ruck than Johnson does. Does a lot more around the ground and arguably minimal differences in their ability to compete in ruck contests.

Thanks Inner Demon - I usually follow these things closely, but must have missed this one. I think I'd reluctantly stick with just the 2 draft picks then.

I love Junior, and consider him best 22 currently but have doubts whether that will be the case next year. As much as I'd love him to stay, our list spots have become much more of a premium. The only way I would keep him is if the unlikely chance that the rumours about Bruce and Gold Coast are true. We cant re-rookie Spencer (maximum 3 years on rookie list at one club) I dont think Cheney or McNamara have much of a chance of playing in our premiership 22 but think McNamara has more potential for upside Retire: Junior Delist: Bell Miller Johnson Cheney Draft: Rounds 1,2,3 (Upgrade: Mckenzie, Spencer). Id look towards getting some ruck (Jamar injury) insurance in the rookie draft, but would not expect much to be available since other clubs + Gold Coast + GWS will be looking for the same thing

I had him pencilled in for delisting earlier on in the season. Really happy to see that he has dramatically increased his contributions to the team. Quite frankly though, I'd be honestly shocked if anyone who truly follows our team didn't at least have his name up for consideration for the chop.

http://www.sporcle.com/games/DJDaForce/Melbourne00s Harder than it sounds. A very frustrating but entertaining 12 minutes. I got 72. Apologies to some former champs, and to about 3 or 4 current day players Kudos to whoever made this

I don't have a major issue with him - but I wish next time he'd begin his celebration song a little earlier. He started playing our theme song about 10 seconds before the final siren went - which meant no one around us could hear the song being played on the loud speaker until about half way through.

Ryan is the younger brother of Scott and Kris - plays for Gippsland Power

I wonder how long it will take for someone in Bay 13 to post that picture of Watts trying to grab Trengove from behind ......
-
He only got it 14 times, but they were quality possessions. The kid can play. I think he deserved the nom this week. Mckenzie a little stiff, but if he keeps it up, no doubt he'll get one very soon.

I worry about North. The drop in membership numbers is largely due to their drop in the performance of their team in the last year. You would not think they could survive in their present form if they have an extended run at the bottom of the ladder like we did.
-
Its just so damn frustrating. Whenever its a home game against a low-drawing opposition, I don't need to look outside - I already know its going to be a cold wet day We have the worst luck when it comes to weather on our home games

I can't agree with you that not clapping your team off = not having common decency. I applauded many individual acts on Saturday (eg. Green coming back on the field, Scully's first run on, and many isolated individual efforts), but for me it would have felt disturbingly wrong applauding our players off the field in the first half, as I believe some of our supporters did. -
