  1. Would have to be disguised (eg. Stretch for 5th rounder) as what you suggest could be described as draft tampering. AFL wants trades to be balanced (unless of course, it involves GCS or GWS, so maybe forget what I'm trying to say...)
  2. Hardwick & L Mathews player/coach's
  3. Any info on Charlie Constable from Geelong? Has been injured and not give much of a chance. I loved the look of him in his draft year. 20 yo tall midfielder, can float back or forward. 1st game got 21 disp, second game against us got 31 disp
  4. It will be very interesting to see if the operations to fix the calf nerve issues make him slower. Speed and delivery were his main strengths IMO. Super talent if fit... If I'd offer 1 year base with incentives for 2. Keen to see which other clubs are interested and what they might offer.
  5. Melbourne List needs 1. Outside speed 2. Rebounding defender 3. General forward Draft picks: 3, 22, 40, 58, 76 Who should they target? Melbourne's midfield is slow, so Ed Langdon would add significant outside run and speed, improving the balance of the team. With Trent McKenzie unable to establish himself for Port Adelaide, his penetrating kick would be a welcome addition to defence well and add a much-needed punch if available. Considering Gold Coast received a priority pick, Melbourne will likely add Caleb Serong to improve their front half.
  6. If I was Bennell and was serious about resurrecting my career, I'd push to get to a club with proven player welfare management and best practice injury rehab. Hawks or Tigers.
  7. Frost to Hawks for 30. 30 to Freo for Langdon. We keep 22. However, Langdon is worth more than 30
  8. Can clubs swap preseason draft picks? I thought it was only the national draft where this happened. Not sure though
  9. How on earth would they get 2? Makes sense, Noah is the son of Dean Anderson, ex hawk I'd laugh if GCS traded with Hawks for pick 2, only to take Anderson with 1!
  10. Absolutely. I posted similar on another thread a week or so back. High reward for relatively small risk. Still needs dd done before committing. I think he's be a perfect project for Clarko or Dimma. The big question I see is, does MFC have a strong enough player welfare program to guide and empower a player such as Bennell? Look at what Richmond have done - they are the benchmark.
  11. Yes, agree with that, assuming all available due diligence is done. Check his folds and see what hes up to on social media. At interview can they ask for a hair sample for surprise testing? Get him down to the club and see what he can do on the track.
  12. Whaaat? 7 years x 900 for Elliot? He's 27! Cray cray
  13. Correct. If it's a senior gig, they can break the contract. Otherwise a good assistant in contract will be retained. Eg, Dew at Swans
  14. I think this is a good move from Nate. Allows him to focus on pure footy for his remaining games at the highest level. Releases him from the added responsibility. Look forward to seeing his 2020 season. He's been a selfless servant of the club. One of our major problems for years has been a lack of on-field leaders. A leader is made up of many traits: one is the "follow me, do as I do" leader. Viney could offer this if he has a full pre season and performs at his best. Max is another capable of this. But we've severely lacked the "on-field director" leadership role, especially as we have a young list. Lewis provided some of this, but not enough. Don't remember who it was, but someone here posted a clip of a miked-up Jones pre and during game and another of Luke Hodge doing the same. The difference in quality leadership, direction and clear buy-in was enormous, embarrassingly so. Hodge is both the "follow me" and the "teacher". Who can fill this void? Has Max the command to direct the players? Are Lever and/or May the answer? Tmac? I'm not confident we currently have someone who is capable of grabbing teammates (and the game) by the scruff of their necks and instructing/directing them towards victory in a tight game.
  15. By the time he's old enough, GCS will be the Tassie Devils. In that case he'd be sure to pick Melbourne
  16. Not sure it's valid to assess a 19 yo first year player in a team that is notorious for slow development of players. You may be right, but a 69kg late pick in the draft will generally struggle during year one. I haven't kept track of his Casey year. Has he had any games there that showed signs (as opposed to dominating every game with 30+ disp)? As he's our first academy pick, I hope he can break into the seniors in 2020. A small goal sneak is what we are crying out for in the forward line
  17. Frosty's middle name/s is/are "dances to the beat of his own drum".
