WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - ADAM TOMLINSON
I suspect GWS know Tomlinson's leaving, hence he's been on the outer the last month or so. I wouldn't put it past them to drop him for the GF rather than others who did less in the PF. I thought he played quite well against the pies, particularly given he was used out of his best position for much of the game, eg. ruck

Rubbish.

Splitting Draft Pick 3
I have the view that if we end up with pick 2, use it on Anderson (assuming he doesn't go 1). Do not split pick 2. If our pick is 3, then perhaps a split is possible. I would still be very hesitant, as Young looks a good prospect at pick 3 and there are a few other draft 'bolters' moving up the list.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL
Train over summer, if ok by Feb offer 1 year with incentives for a 2nd I suspect Sydney will offer 1 or 2 years sooner rather than later

List changes who do we cut, trade or go after.
Pike punched out Neil Balme's PA (a woman) when she said he was not available to talk. That's a bloody good reason to let go of a player. Had he done that at any of his subsequent clubs I'd bet my left nut he'd be exiting soon after. Surely you are not saying we would have won flags if we kept Pike?

List changes who do we cut, trade or go after.
Harley Bennell just had significant surgery on each leg in an attempt to rectify his calf problems. Happy to train with a club over summer and then be taken by a club as a DFA or preseason supplementary selection (rookie list). I know he has had some major off field issues, but he and his partner have also just had their first child. He's claiming he wants to settle down and return to football. Sometimes becoming a parent can make a person focus on life priorities. Is he worth a go over summer with a view to preseason selection in Feb/March? Would give the FD four months to assess him. Thoughts?

Shaun Higgins
Yes, I agree those those hypotheticals are possible, just that I can't see either of them happening. IMO WCE have no choice but to pay up for what he's worth. Cam McCarthy was traded to Freo, he wasn't a DFA. McCarthy, 7, 34, 72 traded for pick 3

Irish recruits
Yes, but he was recruited whilst playing for Kerry in the Gaelic Athletic Assoc in Ireland

I'm intrigued by the notion that a non-FA player out of contract has bargaining power. The only power I can see is the threat to go in the draft/preseason draft, which has no guarantees of destination and burns bridges. I can't recall the last time that happened successfully, perhaps Luke Ball?

They should get at least 1 first rounder for Kelly. If Freo get the Saints pick 5 for Hill, I'd think that might be part of an offer for Kelly, assuming he's open to Freo as a destination.

Sam Powell-Pepper, anyone?
Not Tom Parsley from the Swans or Brad Dill from Freo?

Got a long way to go to get back to fitness. As SWYL would say: "It's going to be a telling preseason!"

The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
5 games might be for a number of reasons. He might have been pushed back in their midfield pecking order due to new arrivals (Neale) and the rise of McCluggage, Berry and others. Doesn't mean he's worth nothing much in a trade. He's not a FA, is he?

The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
Don't think Lewis Taylor will go for a packet of chips. IMO a late 2nd rounder, about mid 30s, would be around the mark.
