GWS 1st rounder next year may well be in the late 20s after all the bidding is matched. We should think of the pick number rather than 1st or 2nd round I'd rather 3 for 6 + Caldwell or O'Halloran. If GWS really want 3 and Green they need to give something more than 6 and 2020's pick 25ish
-
Of course it is. What did you expect during the off season, a bombshell announcement? If Oscar can get more strength in his body over summer and be able to hold his own in the contest, I think he might surprise a few next year. Not a star, but has a role to play and needs to step up.
-
Bad trade call. Number 2 stinks.
-
Only pick Green with 3 if he's worth pick 3. They may let him pass, with the knowledge that the rank of available draftees moves up a spot. However, if they do match a bid at 3 they'll use up pick 6, which means 8 moves up a spot.
-
They won't trade next year's 1st as they'll need it for academy points, plus pick 10 will end up being pick 18 as other clubs match their own bids and GCS have pp no 11.
-
Yes, must be the season
-
I'd rather Martin than Papley. But the idea of going to the draft with 3 + 8 gets me thoroughly aroused...
-
If GWS had pick 3, they could use that on say, Sarong, and then use subsequent picks for Green when a club selects him with their pick. That's why there was talk here that we could split pick 3 with GWS and possibly receive 2 picks inside 15 for 3. Could be win/win.
-
Is that you Steve?
-
You will, of course, be aware that with all the academy/fs draftees next year our first 'live' pick would likely be pushed back 6-8 places? So 8 becomes 16 in that case. Even with pick 26 this year, that swap is genius. This year's draft apparently levels out after about 10 or 12.
-
Of course....
-
3 and 8 in this draft, from new reports. Next years 1st to Norf, plus this year 26 and 50
-
I like it a lot. Sarong and Stephens or Kemp?
-
Good question. Not sure. There's today and tomorrow for player trades, and then pick swaps can be traded up to Nov 22 (and again on draft night). It's possible the first 15 picks might change in order up til then. I like your thinking though.
-
Our future 1st might end up being around 16-18. Not because we will necessarily rise up the ladder, but because there is a [censored] load of academy/fs draftees next year that clubs may want to match bids on before we have a 'live' pick. I'm thinking 3 this year and the 2020 second rounder we got for frost trade might get us two picks this year around the 7-12 mark. Could land us Stephens and Weightman
-
If we keep pick 3, I'd like to hear views from Demonland's draft intelligentsia about this guy. Should we call his name at pick 3, possibly forcing GWS to match bid? If they don't match, is he good enough to warrant pick 3? I'm not a fan of drafting for need, or bidding to force a hand. My view is almost totally 'best available' at that pick. Thoughts?

Good. If something happens, it means we didn't leak. If something does not happen, we still didn't leak.

Having problems understanding the phrase "he himself"?
-
Also worth noting that whilst player trades finish on Wednesday, picks can be traded up until Nov 22. And then again on draft night.
-
You must be fun at social events.
-
Weightman hopefully
-
North have been ridiculously quiet so far this trading period. I thought Shaw might put his own stamp on the list and get a big name where they have deficiencies
-
Was seen as a draft bolter in his draft year. Hasn't yet lived up to expectations
-
You mean like the two knee recos he's already had?
-
Happy to keep 3. Happy to trade for 6 and 11, which could get us Kemp and Stephens/Weightman.
