Lumumba was on our list after the last list lodgement date and was contracted for this year. Maybe the AFL saw his retirement as a negotiated settlement after irreconcilable differences and therefore not subject to a replacement on the list. Not sure exactly, but we were not permitted to replace him.

I'd say 4 and add jurrah. Robbie was poetry, but the other 4 were pure freaks. Allen Jackovich was the reason I attended so may games at the time. It was like watching your best mate drunk at a party, never knew what highs or lows he'd get up to next.

Son of Brian Stynes? Jim's son is only about 12. Wonder if the AFL can 'manufacture' a way for SOB to slip through to us (if he's good enough) even though his dad only played a couple of games.

Those two play in completely different positions and have different roles, so your comparison lacks logic. Or did you mean to say Garland rather than Garlett? It's not as simple as best 22, more so whose fit and in form, who balances with opposition selection and plays according to Goodwin's game plan, etc. ATM Jetta doesn't appear to tick all these boxes

Good point. The match ups potentially aren't great. Omac and Tmac vs Bruce, Membery, paddy and (when he goes fwd) Roo. Smith will hopefully get the gig, but a big ask for a first gamer. Gawn and Spencer may have to drift back. Need to put pressure on the ball carrier coming into their F50. Midfield must do this

Wreckers tissues are well and truly soiled Choke. No go zone. Not sure Biffen could lift a sledgehammer these days. He looks as thin and unwell as Plugger did on the news tonight. But he's a crafty competitor. Likely to pawn off others tools and steal their utes then laugh it off at the POW.

I'm guessing Pedo playing back isn't an option. Garland against Bruce, Members, Paddy or Roo (when he goes forward) sends shivers down my spine. I think the Saints will take turns isolating Garland and Omac. If we give their forwards as much latitude as last time at Darklands it won't matter which. Really need our mids and running half forwards to tighten up and pressure their mids from streaming forwards. If we do that and deliver forward with any advantage then we win.

IMO Spencer has given himself every chance of playing R1 alongside Max. He's had a very good preseason and impressive community cup games. I always thought he was ruck insurance, but I'm coming around to thinking that there might be a case for playing him over Pedo. Maybe that's partly because we haven't seen Pedo in the C Cup games. It's certainly one of the more interesting selection dilemmas as we turn into the season proper.
