WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
Good Times Grimes replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
They must have been reading Demonland. That's where the HS tends to get most of its Melbourne information. -
Yeah it's great over here, all the games on at convenient times and on multiple channels. It's a trade off though, I had to wake up at 5:30 the other day to watch the Dees and Saints, and when the games are in the afternoon I'm up until about 3am watching them. The Kings are looking the goods at the moment. Looks like it'll be Kings-Coyotes in the Western Conference Finals...would be an interesting match up. Washington did well to win a game on the road, they're in with a real chance now if Holtby can hold down the goaltending.
-
It'll be good to see the Gys back in the VFL soon. He's the type of player our midfield needs, so hopefully he can string together some form with the Scorps and push for senior selection soon.

Here's a link DeeTV put up of Neeld's first address to the players. Even though we're 0-5 with an awful percentage and a very good chance at being 0-11, I really like this guy. You can tell he means business and that he's driven to succeed. I think we've picked the right man for the job, and I'm looking forward to seeing the team grow under him.

LA looks like they could be the surprise packet of the playoffs. They did very well to get both Carter and Richards while hanging on to Brown. It's all up to how well Quick can perform over the next month and a half.

He sounds awesome. Definitely one to keep an eye on.

Garland forward [originally posted in April]
Good Times Grimes replied to GRUN DEE's topic in Melbourne Demons
I've heard a bunch of reports about how he was a very good forward when he played junior footy. That being said, he's too valuable down back to move up forward. He can play on small, tall and medium sized forwards and hold his own. I assume Garland would be a marking forward, and that's not what our forward line needs; we need a crumber. If Clark, Watts and Howe all go down at once, maybe try him up there. Until that happens, leave him in defence. -
Casey Scorpions v North Ballarat
Good Times Grimes replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Sounds like a great match, thanks for all the reports. Great to hear Bennell and Blease both played well, and Cook kicked five goals (even if it was in the 2nds). -
This was the best moment of the game by far. Gotta love Jordie!
-
NYR won 3-1 today over Washington to go up 1-0. Phoenix beat Nashville 4-3 in OT to also get a 1-0. Blues and Kings in action in under an hour.

Changes against the cats next week
Good Times Grimes replied to dees189227's topic in Melbourne Demons
Davey has been much improved the last few weeks, and I would be disappointed and surprised to see him out. I'd like to see **Petterd** given a run, but I think that Watts will stay in meaning there is no room for him in the side. **Clark** will definitely be in provided he's fit, as will Frawley. I'd go: IN: Clark, Frawley Out: Sellar, Dunn -
I loved McKenzie's work on Goddard; he really got under his skin. Watts and Trengove both need to lift, but I loved the effort from just about everyone else. Subbing Dunn out was the right call because he barely touched the ball until he kicked that long goal.

DEMONLAND PLAYER OF THE YEAR - Round 5
Good Times Grimes replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
6- McKenzie 5- Jones 4- Rivers 3- Magner 2- McDonald 1- Morton -
Great effort, we were right in it until the last 5 minutes. McKenzie was fantastic.
-
Great effort. The Saints are rattled. Need to keep it up in the last quarter.
-
Jones by far our best so far.
-
JONESY!
-
Excellent.
-
You can be the judge of that

I hope there's a clause in the contract that allows us to terminate it before drafting him. He looks like a spud.

I read somewhere that it's the first time that there haven't been any Canadian teams in the final 8 since 1996. The rivalries seem to be much stronger within Canada than between any American teams or Canadian and American teams. That being said, the Boston/Vancouver rivalry has been brewing since they were in the final last year, and it's a shame that they don't play each other very often. I've only been out to BC once. It's the most beautiful place I've ever been and I'd love to go back. Never been to Banff but some of the pictures I've seen of the place look incredible. I'd love to go on a trip to Lake Louise some time soon.

That's almost as good as eliminating teams that are above us so we finish on top. Almost...

Neeld to be on Ox's show tonight.
Good Times Grimes replied to jayceebee31's topic in Melbourne Demons
I didn't care who it was, but your clue is frustrating me to the point that now I can't stop trying to figure it out. Member of the leadership group and HG as previously said he played footy with JT before so that must mean he's a South Australian. Can't figure out where Robbie comes into it... -
I don't expect us to finish any higher than 16th. I just really hope we're not the first team to lose to GW$.
