  1. That's the hope. Keep in mind though, In 2008 when we were sitting pretty at the bottom of the ladder I thought that by 2012 we would well and truly be finals contenders.
  2. I don't think Morton will ever put on much bulk. I've got the same frame as him and really struggle to do so, no matter how much time I spend at the gym. That doesn't mean that he can't get stronger though. He came off a very promising first couple of seasons only to have injuries ruin 2 (allegedly solid) preseasons in a row. I'd like to see him play 15+ games this year to really give him a chance to prove his worth. His confidence will grow. EDIT: Just a little FYI, from the OCD person that lives inside me: Tynan debuted in Round 1.
  3. Fine then, I will comment. He is the type of player that comes around once in a lifetime. He has all the skills to be one of the best players in the AFL. We must keep him on our list unless he goes to jail.
  4. My old man says he will buy 5 memberships (one for each of my sisters, one for my niece, one for my brother in law (a Bombers supporter), and one for himself) if we win. I've got a better feeling about this game than about any other so far this season.
  5. If Bail is delisted at season's end I will be very disappointed. I think he has the goods and just needs to deliver on a consistent basis. Same goes for Petterd. And as much **** as I'm going to get for saying it, Morton. They're all still quite young players, and a change in coach could create a major change in attitudes and output. Give them all at least one more season and see what they can do. I will save all comments on Jurrah until after his court date.
  6. Overall have been very impressed with big Mitch so far. If it weren't for a few brain fades he could be leading the league in goals at the moment in a VERY ordinary team. He has been worth every cent, and I expect him to improve.
  7. Yes I saw this as well and was thinking that an announcement must be on the horizon. They are clearly confident of signing a BOJ sponsor this season rather than going through with just the one. Just a matter of time I guess...
  8. That is too bad! Sounds like you're pretty lucky to have a friend with connections. I've been to about 6 games in the past three seasons. Not very many considering there have been 123 home games in that time. I can't stand how in Toronto businesses get a hold of the tickets and use them all to entertain clients-- it means that real fans don't get many opportunities to go out to games. The upside of the Leafs not making the playoffs in so long is that people are more willing to sell their tickets and make a profit rather than attend and see a losing team. So if you're desperate to get to a game you can sit in the nosebleeds and pay $140! Hopefully the Sharks can finally deliver this year. I've often picked them to win the cup only to see them go out in the first couple of weeks of the playoffs. Who do you think is going to win it all this year? That Canucks/Kings game should be a good one to watch. I would be surprised if the Kings could pull off the sweep. I think Vancouver will win the next two games and L.A. will win the series in Game 6. Penguins are up 9-3 at the moment in Game 4 at the end of the 2nd period. That series has been so high scoring and unpredictable... some of the most exciting playoff hockey I've ever seen. Even though I hate the Penguins and Crosby, I hope they can win the next couple of games just so the series keeps going. Interesting stat I heard today: Last year there were 7 suspensions over the course of the playoffs. This year there have been 8 in the first 7 days!
  9. I never said that, I think you've misinterpreted what I was saying. It would be good to see him play well in the VFL this season because by now a 1 round draft pick from 2010 should be making a push for senior selection if they aren't already playing AFL.
  10. Possibly, but his strength might not be there. It's a bit difficult to lift weights with a bad wrist. I had a broken wrist with it in plaster for 4 weeks. After that time it was significantly smaller than my other. It takes time to build the muscles back up.
  11. I think this was addressed by informing him that any player who refused to play for the club they were drafted to would be suspended for X number of seasons.
  12. Haha that does seem to be the case, OD. I've looked up the stats from the game, and the players who have either moved on have not played this season due to injuries are: Cameron Bruce Paul Johnson Liam Jurrah Addam Maric Tom "Scum of the Earth" $cully Colin Sylvia Austin Wonaeamirri The only players from that list that would currently be in my best 22 are Sylvia, Jurrah and Scully. Sylvia was BOG with 28 disposals, but Jurrah and Scully were both ordinary with 9 and 14 disposals apiece. Davey had 25 disposals and received 2 votes for his performance, but has since fallen off the face of the earth. Our current 'fringe' players also played quite well (Morton, Bartram, MacDonald, Bail, McKenzie, Dunn). So, perhaps the change is a result of our 'fringe' players regressing rather than progressing? Everybody on our list seemed to be switched on that day. I would love to know what happened before the game to get them to do this so that MN can implement it from here on out.
  13. Supporters want to know what is happening with our former #12 pick. Not unreasonable to include him in the story, IMO. It would be nice to see him play a few good games in the VFL this season to show us that our recruiting wasn't COMPLETELY off the mark.
  14. When we gave Sydney a drubbing in 2010 we seemed to have speed in almost all aspects. What has happened since this game?
  15. My guess is that no matter the numerical figure given to how long Cook is injured for, a new injury will sprout up just as this one has healed making it pointless to be firm with time frames.
  16. Missing Moloney as well (don't really count round 1 because he was apparently injured).
  17. Lucas Cook (groin) - 1 week Michael Evans (back) - indefinite Max Gawn (knee) - season Jordan Gysberts (ankle) - 3 weeks Neville Jetta (ankle) - indefinite Liam Jurrah (wrist) - 2 weeks Brent Moloney (groin) - test James Strauss (leg) - 1 week Col Sylvia (back) - 2 weeks Rory Taggert (back) - 2 weeks
  18. Wow...just watched the MRP video. I'd have to say that while I'm upset with the Grimes suspension, it is understandable. The Jones fine on the other hand...
  19. I believe it is Melbourne Football Club Supporter Syndrome. There is no second F in the acronym, if I'm not mistaken.
  20. The Pittsburgh/Philadelphia series has been insane in terms of fights, hits, outrageous scores and unpredictability. I'd be more than happy to see the Penguins ousted from the playoffs tomorrow. I'm also very anti-Vancouver, and happy to see them down 3-0 (Sorry Macca). It would be a great upset if LA could sweep them. It's going to be very interesting to see who takes out the cup this year. My early pick is the Flyers, but they'll need Bryzgalov or Bobrovsky to give them some stability in goal. This is such a great time of year for sports: NHL playoffs, NBA playoffs in a couple of weeks, MLB season has just begun, the Masters, and of course AFL. Pantaloons- Who were the Leafs playing when you went recently? I was also at a game in early 2011 against Calgary in which they came back in the final seconds, but I can't remember which month it was in. I think they ended up losing it 2-1. I really hope the Leafs come good some time soon, they are the only team to have missed the playoffs every year since the 2004-2005 lockout.
  21. From all reports I've heard, Green did not play well on the weekend in the VFL. Can someone please explain to me how this puts him in the mix?
  22. I'm surprised I haven't seen it either, I thought we were having a pretty good start to the season...
  23. Now THAT is someone I would love to see play again. If only...
