I think we will be 2-9 after 11 rounds. Should be able to muster up a win against the Bulldogs, Saints, or Bombers, and I have a good feeling about the Pies. That being said, I'm an optimist. When an optimist picks 2 wins from 9 games you know you're in trouble...

Head high tackles...."drawing frees"
Good Times Grimes replied to Jumping Jack Clennett's topic in Melbourne Demons
I do agree with you, and while I think there will always be a grey area as to what constitutes a staging a free kick and what doesn't, I think that there should be some sort of repercussion for players who approach the game recklessly. A possible option is for a MRP to review games and warn players who are going in head first with the intent of earning a free kick that if they continue to do so they will be subject to a fine/suspension. They can have a 3 strike system where the first two times is a warning, and the third is a fine. After the third time the fine would increase, suspensions would be handed out, or both. -
Head high tackles...."drawing frees"

They could potentially introduce a penalty for staging free kicks. For example, in the NHL, if a player attempts to draw a penalty for tripping by 'diving' after contact with the opposition, they are subject to a 2 minute stint in the penalty box. If they are a repeat offender, the incidents are reviewed by the league and appropriate suspensions are given out. -
Crawford's comments on the Demons
Good Times Grimes replied to Norm Smith's Curse's topic in Melbourne Demons
As bad as we've looked so far, there have been a few passages in the past few weeks where we've actually looked quite good. You can tell that some of the players are struggling with playing along the boundary rather than going straight through the corridor, though. I have seen it several times where a player has motioned to kick into the centre but then second guessed themselves, rushed the kick along the boundary, and ruined the play. If we can get the game plan to become second nature I think we will be alright. I just hope it doesn't take too long... -
Always thought we'd lose the match against Richmond. Perhaps not by as much as we did, and I definitely hoped we wouldn't, but I knew it would be a big ask to beat them. I have a better feeling about this week, especially after WB were demolished by the 'Aints.

Jack Watts: Marked development
Good Times Grimes replied to Adam The God's topic in Melbourne Demons
I've always had faith in Watts...even got the #4 on the back of my guernsey 2 years ago. He's looked pretty good so far this season, but there is still plenty of room for improvement. I can't wait to see him tear a game apart, be it with 30+ possessions, or 6+ goals. I think it's only a matter of time. -
DEMONLAND PLAYER OF THE YEAR - Round 3
Good Times Grimes replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Very difficult this week. There's a few who stood up and played well, and then there's daylight between everyone else. 6: Howe 5: Watts 4: Jones 3: Clark 2: McDonald 1. Frawley -
IN: Petterd, Moloney, Couch, Tynan OUT: Bate, Martin, Garland, McKenzie
-
That's not true. We beat the Bombers by over 40 points in Broadbridge's memorial match. http://demonwiki.org/Round+1+2005

Howe is our best player.
-
Oh well....the upside of Miller kicking another goal is getting to see a shot of Pia.
-
I agree with you, but I think it comes from some of his off field behaviour...
-
I'm very impressed with Davey so far. Watts has also been very good. Trengove needs to lift. Jamar needs to think before he disposes of the footy. Bate's been alright. Howe's been good. If Clark hadn't had some crucial brain fades in the first quarter he'd be close to our best.
-
Looked more promising towards the end of that quarter.Nice seeing Davey show a bit of passion.

Webjet is on the jumpers. Confirmed.
-
Awesome! I'm going to watch Rd 14, 2008 right now. Thanks, FYD!
-
32, 595. Not much growth in the last couple of weeks...for obvious reasons. Hopefully a win over Richmond today and the addition of Webjet will help the number continue to increase.

Who's this Addam Maric guy? Sounds like a gun. I hope Neeld assigns a heavy tag to him.
-
I liked Luke Tapscott's confidence in this one: "Excited to get back on the G!! Can't wait to take the tiges down and get a win on the board! Hope to see you all there! #afltigersdees #AFL" Can't wait to see him steamroll a couple of Tigers.
-
It's so nice to finally have some good news going around about the MFC. Here's to hoping there's more to come over the next couple of days, including a WIN over Richmond!
-
Tanking doesn't exist. Andrew Demetriou told me so.
-
I really hope he can play a good game, but I'm not holding my breath. Show some hunger and desire, Aaron...please!

Another Father/Son on the horizon.
Good Times Grimes replied to gsmith12's topic in Melbourne Demons
Referring to Morton? Don't think I've seen him take a hanger in my life. He is lightly framed though-- won't disagree with you there. -
And the potential IN(S) are: Clark, Tynan, Magner, Couch. Sylvia was BOG in a losing effort and usually seems to play well against the Tiges. Hopefully Magner can make up for his loss, though I'd say it's unlikely. It will be very interesting to see who is selected this week and see how it differs from last year.

I sure hope we can beat them, and I love the optimism. I'm not so confident though. Prove me wrong, Demons!
