  1. I only look at his 2010 when he wasn't injured. His main strength (when fit) is his massive tank and massive work ethic.
  2. Firstly - his efforts both in his desire to win the ball and without ball in hand are remarkable. ( please please please stay healthy). He is really frank about the team - "for too much of the game we played like a second rate team" What really impressed me was his own analysis of his game on the weekend ( see his interview) - second week back and underdone - you could somewhat forgive his rustiness - nope - there is no need for Roos to slam his wastefulness - he does quite a job on himself. "I had my colours lowered - I had opportunities and I stuffed them up".
  3. I don't care if he doesn't put his body on the line -as long as his work rate is good and has a desire to win the loose ball - both these are sadly lacking.
  4. Watching the game - its the context of the clangers . Quick kicks under pressure to the opposition are still clangers. Unfortunately Terlich's disposal and decision making under little pressure IMO are suspect.
  5. Can't hold him - he is so freakin strong. trying to make a tackle stick on him is nigh on impossible. ( he is such a champion and then some)
  6. It's not even that that bothered me on the weekend. I didn't care that he didn't get physical. But if you are not going to be a physical impact player then be a gut runner and keep providing options in space on the outside. He didn't do that either. Danyle Pearce is hardly what I would call a physical footballer but at least ( when he is on song) keeps running and running. Watts looks so good with ball in hand - he just is not presenting himself enough to get touches. Dawes is crash and bash but a lot of his ball comes from presenting and then presenting again...and then if ignored...present again - you don't have to be crash and bash to do that.
  7. agreed - Nathan Jones also hits the packs and handball receives at pace so he looks quicker than he is. ( Davey pre soft tissue injuries was seriously quick though)
  8. and the pies are cold and the beer is warm
  9. I like that Dawes got into him. It was low percentage kick that came off. "great goal son but next time pass it off to someone in a much better position". I agree with the scribes on JKH's pace - not particularly quick. I do not agree with them on agility - look at the highlight reel and from what we have seen on game days - he has wonderful dancing feet. You don't have to be rocket powered if you have good evasive skills and lateral movement - JKH has that.
  10. It completely ruined mine - I was on track to be the next Cale Morton.
  11. I can claim my mancrush on Dawes even from his Collingwood days. I love him off-field - speaks common sense. On field - his big attribute is his willingness to do everything right. I have never seen a player influence a game and players like he does whilst not registering stats - blocks, shepherds, knock ons to advantage, open up avenues for smalls, spoiling, chasing, tackling, multiple leads up and back and a willingness to play in front, running to good spaces. My only knock on him is his injuries - if he can stay on the park we have a gem
  12. The key for me is to see improvement again. We were OK last week and we won. Tyson and Vince both had quiet games last week ( pleasing to me though is they both were quiet but still contributed) - Viney will be better for the run as will Dawes. Howe got better as the game went on and is playing in unfamiliar territory - I hope to see him play much better as well. If we can lift again we should be in this game. ( I don't want to see one step forward last week and three steps back this week) I did see the first half GC versus hawks and GC has some serious talent in that side. They were just smashed in the second half by a sublime outfit.
  13. what a jidiotic way of spelling it .
  14. You want exactness, certainty and definite answers when it comes to human body - good luck with that. Injuries sometimes follow timelines and then sometimes they don't. Some players have a plan to follow and recover , some have relapses. Look at the other clubs injury lists - some a little better than our - lots of clubs a lot worse. I don't give a rats about other clubs but there is a common theme running through all clubs - its called injuries.
  15. Ok - so we should have got Dylan Grimes because his brother plays for us ... and we should have got Wines because he is best mates with Jack Viney...but getting Riley because he is boinking Bernies sister - where will it end ( boinking got through the filter !)
  16. You may well be right but for all players I am completely discounting the last 4 years and will judge them on any glimmers of talent or progress this year and this year only..
  17. and then there are the others......
  18. Well reasoned and the thrust of your argument is that the medico's discussed and in absence of anything concrete and on evidence at the time made judgement calls. The only part I dont agree is there are people who don't think the staff are up to it.
  19. Because that's what 50% of footballers do. That fine line of playing with acceptable level of discomfort against playing when there is an injury that can result in further damage. (note - before i get jumped on - the percentage is MUCTITDF ( made up crap to impress the Demonland faithful)
  20. So what you are saying is that we draft a player who has reasonable foot speed for his first two seasons - for the next two seasons he can hardly raise a gallop and the medical staff either didn't notice or chose to ignore. If this is the case I am with you - sack the lot of them - fancy trained medical professionals knowing less than us on Demonland. I am suggesting that absolutely it would have been topic of discussion and some form of ongoing investigation/monitoring was happening. The same as they would do with Dawes knee. Since neither of us know we'll just have to both live with our opinions. (as an aside - look at every club and the operations players go through in the off season to repair problems that we the supporters had no idea about. Players continually play carrying all sorts of ailments that only come to light in the off season when they go under the knife)
  21. the rather large assumption you are making is that the medico's weren't trying to figure out why.
  22. Buddy Franklin had 3/4 of a season where he couldn't mark overhead ( not that he is much better now) because of shoulder complaint restricting his movement - he kpet playing but didnt raise his arm over his head. I recall Chris Judd having a knee soreness that restricted his explosiveness but kept playing as it was assessed that playing on it wouldnt aggravate his condition any further ( he did have a scrape post season). The foot problem has certainly slowed Trengove - but he was dropped to Casey due to form not because he was slow. Trengove has a fracture that requires surgery - who knows if it was caused and further exacerbated by playing with a pre-existing injury. The underlying problem that was not revealing itself to a scan may not have healed naturally with rest so you could have given him a month off and the problem still may have been there one he resumed. Further to this - he complained of soreness after the casey game and they did a scan that revealed the fracture. Are we therefore assuming that he didnt complain of soreness previously ? Or he did complain of soreness and was ignored and no scans were done ? The problem is that there is so much second guessing of the medical staff without knowledge.
  23. And you think the professionals have not picked up the difference between what he was like at U18 and his running power is like now but all at Demonland have. Interesting.
