  1. I hate the whole idea but I am a [censored] when it comes to trading out footballers - having said that - you keep doing the same thing you will keep getting the same result.
  2. feel free ( pay me the royalties)
  3. And i think his suitors will acknowledge that he is trying to do backstroke in a cesspool that is our list.
  4. maybe I am too philosophical. I support the club , I go to game, tip in money but....... I can step back and look at the club objectively. We have positives in Roos and PJ and what seems a stable admin and sub coaching staff. The negative is the players - our list stinks on ice. Looking at it objectively - there may be some attraction for players to play under Roos but there would be no doubt in anyones mind that it is a long way back for us. Given a choice of lots of other clubs to play for - as a professional striving for success - what would your decision be. I dont blame Clark if he went elsewhere and you cant blame Frawley for craving success and seeing it a long way off at our club.
  5. as said elsewhere - form is irrelevant its all about the $$$ and length of contract
  6. Why more than any other week ?
  7. I listened to "The Hack" last night on triple J and they had Christopher Pyne on. He is jumpy obnoxious fellow. He ranted about Fairfax and the ABC and gave Tom Tilly a spray - Tom handled it quite well. It did make me laugh - it was 5:59 and Pyne was about to launch into an answer and Tom said can you make it brief as we coming up to the news. Pyne got agitated and said typical ABC - i get asked a question and you wont let me a.... Before he could finish they went to the news. Tilly apologised after the news and said - we cant stop 6pm happening nor the news coming on. Pyne came off as a petulant DH. You think he would know that Triple J listeners are not his demographic so he would keep his cool to win people over - not act like a 2 year old.
  8. That's the stat that's important. Handballing or kicking backwards is not a problem if it frees up someone/provides an outlet. It is horrible if you miss the target consistently
  9. you have done well - I had zero idea
  10. Don't you think that clubs are wary of picking players who adamantly say that they won't play for you ?
  11. The other aspect that is not being considered is financial. I can sense we have supporters on Demonland who are at the end of their tether. There must be a sizeable proportion who are thinking that the storm is looking like a better proposition to follow. As to attracting new members .... Unless members and prospective members get some hope our membership will plummet and it will be a case of tipping more money in or worse case folding/merging/relocating us
  12. my only issue is this. Do I think Frawley will go. I am almost 100% certain but I stress almost. The same way that Collingwood supporters were almost 100% certain that Cloke was gone. So unless he comes to the club and says I am gone then you cannot be 100% certain. If they want him to go but are uncertain if he is actually committed to going - then drop him- you can then absolutely guarantee he will go. I reflect that when Watts contract situation became protracted there were some on here also saying he was gone and should be dropped. ( maybe if we had our time over again....)
  13. I just hate free agency. If a player is out of contract and a deal cant be done then he can nominate for the draft. Luke Ball did it .Steven of Port Adelaide did it. That's free enough for me. It puts the onus on the club to do a deal or they get nothing and it puts the onus on the club of choice to co-operate or they miss out on the player.
  14. What a very sad post to have to read. ( I wish I could disagree with you)
  15. The old ways don't work because this is new - it is not only the poor clubs ( Franklin ?), but the poor clubs will be hit hardest. The likes of Franklin went for money. Frawley will go for money and success We will be in this position again - all clubs will be in this position - this is free agency - more and more players will delay until seasons end - We have already seen some players delay contract talks - this will continue to happen more and more - some will stay ( Cloke for example ) most will go. I don't think that players will be dropped but I can see more contract negotiations being opened the year before expiry and a player becoming a free agent. If the player has no interest in talking then I can see clubs fielding offers for the player whilst still contracted to maximise the return. Roos has already flagged it.
  16. exactly - his form has been ok - nothing more nothing less. He had a shocker on Sunday but he had lots of mates. Again - people seeing things to suit their argument. I also believe he is gone. And we will move on. Interesting that Frawley said he wanted to see the direction of club and people were howling him down as we playing much better footy. Not hearing too many voices asking why he hasn't signed already, now that we have tapered off so badly. I believe that unless we show improvement and are heading in the right direction we will see other free agents ( and possibly out of contract players - although it is harder for them to leave for a successful club unless we deal with them) jettison us for more successful clubs. (note - I didn't expect miracles in year one and we have improved this year but the tapering off has put a dampener on what was an encouraging year.)
  17. Tell him, he's dreamin' (straight to the poolroom for you Mandee)
  18. Unfortunately we don't get a quick painless death - we get season long agony and we go into remission at seasons end and during the preseason then start the agony all over again in the season proper.
  19. It covers many areas of psychic science including near-death experiences I had one of those watching the game on Sunday
  20. He may have been touted on Demonland as heir apparent but Roos quashed that fairly early in the piece. As to half committed ?? He was taking his time to decide what he wanted to do - I think the noises he made about deciding on coaching were fairly similar to someone else - Paul Roos ?
  21. lordy lordy - when we all learn. Cook was All Australian centre half forward !!!!!
  22. sigh........ Again...... Toumpas was the more highly regarded player at the time of the draft. You can all rewrite history as much as you like but go through every article by TAC watchers and Toumpas was more highly ranked than Wines. That much is fact. The next probability is that Wines is now arguably the best player out of that draft so following the flawed rear vision logic - we should not have been able to draft him because GWS had picks before us and they should have taken him first ! (if you go back through posts at the time - there was even talk of "collusion" that we gave up too much for Hogan but the trade off was that Toumpas would somehow slip through to our pick)
  23. Same was said about Tom Scully if i recall... Same was said about Jack Watts and/or NicNat if I recall. They all look like guns and jets at TAC level. Here's a riddle - how do you turn a jet into a spud - put him in a Melbourne jumper. ( sorry - still in the grieving process after Sunday - I asked an MCC attendant for my membership money back)
  24. Wrong.... We are talking about Petracca/Brayshaw and Wright as being very handy. I recall when at this time of year Scully and Trengove were way ahead of all other potential draftees and we were having the same discussion. Back it in now - no matter who we take - when someone else is better than who we picked at a later pick there will be the same angst as we always see.
  25. Criticism is warranted for his poor form but geez you blokes turn quickly.
