I seriously hate that joint

You can argue the merits of the carbon price all you like. You can also argue the merits of the average punter that cares little about anything else except their own hip pocket. ( had you said that it is a benefit with the tax coming off for businesses and the economy or the general populace - then cudo's, but arguing policy because its more money for me ..hmmm)

Terlich is interesting to me. His decision making on went to defend and when to peel off or when to go 3rd up is excellent. Then he gets the ball in his hand and decision making goes right out the window.
-
So what are your thoughts on Petracca - if he is available at number two just pass on him ? His junior form has been outstanding ?
-
Of course that is part of it - yet people are bemoaning us not picking Dustin Martin ??? And we can throw the poop at Scully ( deservedly so) but as a junior his work ethic was legendary, his will to succeed immense and gulp - was considered an excellent leader at the Stingrays. Unless they have a VERY suspect character ( Dale Gartlett) I believe the vast majority of footballers will fall into the category of being psychologically sound to play AFL ( and have the necessary attributes to succeed) Equally important ? nope. The Hawks who are most successful club had taken a risk with both Franklin and Gartlett . Edit - for the record - the way juniors are ranked by recruiters and experts are not only by "possessions" - it is by a raft of considerations. If not - please explain why Darling slipped so badly - ( WCE played it up but there were definite knocks on his work ethic) - Daniel Rich slipped because he was considered to have limited upside.
-
Just wow. Of course recruiters will look at how far certain players have developed in terms of TAC/ASC and other junior leagues and make some assessments on their future development ( skinny beanpole ruckman for example) But to dismiss their junior form ? Pray tell - am I missing something - what else can you actually judge them on ?????
-
Show me after season one who thought that ????? His first season was good. Revisionism ( happy for you to prove me wrong by backing up your statement)
-
Hmmm... well at least you are acknowledging that much of recruiting is fortune telling - trying to predict who will be a 10 year player Could you also advise recruiters the "secret" of how to figure out who will be the best player in future without taking into account who is playing the good football at junior level ???? Of course you will hear expert talk about players upside. That is also fortune telling. The thrust of your argument is basically - "guess"

people feeling sorry for me ...grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

When I tell people I barrack for Melbourne - they slowly shake their heads and say " sad really" - Geez I hate that.

22. You suggest to the club that a fabulous marketing idea is to introduce a 22 home and away half game membership - (you only get to watch games up to half time which is about all most of us can stomach anyway)

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
nutbean replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
I keep seeing lots with this view on the likely outcome but I am not so sure. There is a huge difference between what should happen and what we want to happen and what will actually happen. I have to hand it to Essendon - they have turned what should really be an easy matter of done wrong and convict into a smelly confused muddlefest where they are determined that if they are going down they are going take as many down with them as possible. -
correct - connecting a free agent compensation pick with a priority pick is a nonsense. We will get whatever pick we get for Frawley because the market has determined his worth. If we get pick 3 for Frawley then by the AFL's own formula it has been determined that we are losing a top 10 pick footballer. We are not being gifted a pick for nothing - we are losing a valuable footballer. Whether you want to keep or are happy to see him go - we are losing a footballer that has taken the 4th most marks in the league. What needs to be factored into compensation for a free agency pick is that unless you can trade it for a ready made footballer - ( not always the case) - you are usually trading a footballer that can make an immediate impact ( Frawley/Franklin/Thomas etc) for a draft pick that in most cases will need 3 seasons plus to be playing consistent top level football. You are losing a known for a series of unknowns.

Or they could be Luke Tapscott
-
All our players look composed during training...alas.. when they play a game proper.......
-
How the hell's that going to help ? OPSM sponsor the umpires and look what its done for their eyesight.
-
can we rookie him next year ?
-
That would explain a lot this year
-
When you can factor in "what might happen" as they did last year - then the answer will always be no
-
Heres one for you - who's first season was this ? games 12 disposals 100 marks 13 goals 10 not too dissimilar
-
and I can't believe that after what every knowledgeable expert ( and some dimwits) and coaches write about 18 /19 year olds - don't judge them until they get 30-40 games under their belts you would post this. Sink the boots into Watts/Frawley/Dawes all you like - this kid has played 12 games.
-
The trouble is that it will be a forever re-adjustment. Because it is not one year that the pick order doesnt match the output. It is every year - i will say though -we will have a fair share of "credits". The issue you will have with other clubs is ( and goes to my point) - " you get the talent and just dont develop it"

Melbourne biggest issue (from an outsider)

I will support this club to my dying breath (if they keep up the current crud it could be sooner than expected). I get fiercely depressed after bad losses and I dont clap opposition goals against - but like you - I do marvel sometimes at quality play of opposition players. I am not talking about run of the mill play - but when a Riolo turns a player inside out - you do marvel and wish he was in our jumper. -
true - but the likes of Hill and Langford took and are are taking a few seasons to come through. The strong teams don't need to hurry their juniors through - we do.
