  1. Welcome aboard American Demon, There's plenty of great games you can order through this mob - http://www.sportsdelivered.com/afl-name-a-game/ As Grun Dee said above the 1994 finals matches against Carlton and Footscray (Western Bulldogs now) show us playing some pretty exciting footy. Another recommendation would be the Elimination Final from 1987, Melbourne v Nth Melbourne. We hadn't played finals in 23 years and just exploded!
  2. spot on Devo at this stage, when i look at the 'staying' and 'going' columns, i'm more than happy with the ledger (love for jurrah notwithstanding) imagine the panic and outrage we'd have on here if jones and howe had not yet resigned
  3. i don't think there's any doubt about this P_Man You only need to look at the first quarter against Adelaide last week to see that we have the ability to move the ball quickly and efficiently. There have been flashes of it throughout the season and I think once the side is fitter and stronger they will be able to sustain this style of play - while fulfilling their defensive duties too - for longer periods.
  4. Didn't the club run a "give robbie flower one last chance to play in the finals" campaign? It worked! Maybe we can rebadge it as: "give Melbourne one last chance to play in the finals".
  5. not surw what you're on about Sdemon53 http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?/topic/30973-jim-stynes-autobiography/page__p__600891__hl__book#entry600891
  6. the orange outfit is most suitable for the witches hat that he is
  7. gee, thanks for sharing..
  8. The man credited with 11 premierships, and someone who played an instrumental role in the development of many a young footballer, has passed away from cancer, according to the 'Hun this morning. Jordan was also a Victorian cricketer who almost made the national team. Nurtured many a Melbourne footballer in his successful u-19 sides, including the late great Jim Stynes when he first arrived from Ireland. Slug's last call
  9. Loved the sacrificial tap forward running back with the flight of the ball in the final quarter which resulted in a goal, very courageous when he knew it was going to hurt.
  10. Boy we really missed Clark today, there were periods where we really controlled play but just didn't have a target up forward. Throw in Watts, Frawley et al and the imminent influx of players from trading, the draft and FA and I maintain we're not too far away.
  11. good call mr twister.. mentioned it (at least) three times ..."but you have to have everyone buy in..." "the club has to stand up and buy into where neeldy wants to take it" - haven't they done so already?! anyway, maybe this can be taken to another thread, so as not to spoil what are richly-deserved plaudits for a great clubman
  12. You can have a kick on the ground after the siren today too, if that appeals
  13. I saw Colin Sylvia start training when everyone else was warming down and getting ready to go home
  14. 6. Jones 5. Frawley 4. Green 3. McDonald 2. Grimes 1. Nicholson
  15. Green can certainly hold his head high today - worked really hard and glad that he got to slot a few goals in his 250. Aside from Jones, there was little else to smile about. Felt pretty lonely there, MFC supporters were few and far between
  16. Will be interesting to see if Penguin have some sort of deal where part of the proceeds of sales go to Reach Foundation. I hope so.
  17. This is going to be on the reading list for many, many people - from all walks of life
  18. my only other lasting memory of the day is that the rain caused my red and blue face paint to run which thankfully made it very difficult to see that was happening out on the field
  19. I remember when the 100m sprint final - won by a doped-up Ben Johnson - took place just before the '88 GF. They broadcast it on the scoreboard but it was slightly delayed and a Melbourne supporter near me - actually a very senior Demonland official - who was listening live on radio took advantage of it by predicting to everyone within earshot the winner and the time to 1/100th of a second.
  20. a "large" number of north fans in one place ? you must work at the club )
  21. I and Love and You - The Avett Brothers Have loved it ever since I saw the highlights clips it accompanies on YouTube
  22. Full marks for dedication ... and you do get to see Greeny play his 250th, so it's not a completely wasted trip
  23. As someone mentioned earlier in the thread, would be great if we could put him on ice for a week and have him notch up the 250 at the 'G in front of the faithful. Unfortunately, I think the state of the team with injuries etc means we actually need him to play this week.. many MFC supporters won't be there to pay their respects. Well done BG >>>
