2011 Player Review - # 34 Stefan Martin
Jordie_tackles replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I agree, he isnt at the same level but his basketball background makes him the closest thing to NN their is apart from NN. He is athletic, often pushes forward from the center and has that ability to shimmy a few tackles and take the ball clean from a clearance. This is what makes him such a good 2nd ruck, he often acts like another rover once the ball hits the deck. But isnt perfect and has a bit to still learn/consistency -
All sounds like good news, we all know the story with Cale, if he plays up to his potential he could be anything, until then lets hope

How many goals Mitch Clark in 2012
Jordie_tackles replied to Sir Why You Little's topic in Melbourne Demons
Do you really miss the point of having Clark by that much? -
You were similarly upset when i said he might be slow, have average skills and lack upside....he gets the ball though thats for sure, works hard ect but lacks the real polish imo I have heard from a number of people who have worked closely with Myles since he played juniors that these are reasons why he has never been drafted, and what will continue to stop him. in a weak draft this may give him an opportunity but every club has had 3-4 years to do so, why now? What do you think Myles can add to and AFL list?
-
Gawn did his knee prior to the draft, alot of clubs would have been put off using their first pick for this reason, and im not saying Gawn is or was a first round talent. But two years is a long time, and if he can start getting games and putting on the weight his size alone means he will be one of the biggest weapons around
-
If we dont make Gawns options clear to him at the Dees, as mentioned we will lose him ala Mumford. There will barley be a club out there that wouldnt look at him. HE will get offered far and above what Mumford got next time he is out of contract, that is for sure, this is the issue, no Clark or Martin Jamar and Gawn both being worthy 1st rucks by the time Gawn is out of contract next. Gawn having another 8 years in the system minimum.

Brett has been said to only want to coach part-time, not 100% but that may rule him out

Why pay when they may become free, especially when they are out of contract, similar to what North look like doing with Maric

Steph Martin & Mitch Clark...
Jordie_tackles replied to Sir Why You Little's topic in Melbourne Demons
Maybe everyone should check out Rivers disposal efficiency....83+ percent number one in our team for all the haters out there! Stats are stats but you cant be that bad at disposing the ball when you do it at 83% i understand this includes handballs as well but so does everybodies http://www.melbournefc.com.au/2011%20stats/tabid/7429/default.aspx -
Seems that they really needed to get rid of some cap space last week and didnt.....Only player i would be interested in is Gram but he is contracted atm so dont see how it can happen, they obviously cant pay him out either. farren Ray is the other one but is said to go missing at times, would be an experienced big body in the midfield, we obviously have the cap room and who says he gets a game unless warranted? could be worth looking at. Also Dempster, Dawson, Peake Blake, and Polo all of whom i wouldnt consider at this stage http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/st-kilda-fails-to-make-salary-cap-room-and-now-must-deal-with-it/story-fn69a32t-1226169144410

Off twitter, not all scwabb but i didnt know what other thread it may be relevant to. Big improvement increasing organisational turnover by 50% in 2 years....HUGE I think collingwood are atleast 70Million though
-
I agree with this but if Jim has offered, it would nearly be rude to say no. Not that it would be anything against Jim in anyway, but its probably the most important number at MFC atm

Jordie_tackles replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I couldnt get to that game because i worked the evening..... pretty sure that was at about the most critical moment in the whole game. I got so so angry/upset... this could be me 100%: It is all part of the ride though, imagine if he took his chances, CAREY like I nearly hope he manages to convince Neeld he has all the talent haha good times- 101 replies

Steph Martin & Mitch Clark...
Jordie_tackles replied to Sir Why You Little's topic in Melbourne Demons
Such an impressive spine... All under 23!!! Clarke turning 24 in less than a week however Watts going back or forward tbh it depends on where Martin may be best suited, because watts is talented enough to make both ends of the ground his own People are right that Gawn wont get many games next year imo, but all it takes is one injury. and in 2013 is where it gets complicated..... Jamar will be 29 or 30 though so depends when they see him playing until. damn we will trade one of our rucks for a first round pick, we spent 2 rookie spots and pick 53 on them!!!! -
It is from SNF but still a good quote at the end, i think he he would have taken a bit of enjoyment out of snaring Mitch, obviously... Fremantle supporters hate him haha but i see only good things personally
-
Hats off to Harrington and Barry Prendergast and Co. Great effort landing Clark, i think pick 12 is value in this regard, he would go super high in the ND if available This is ontop of previous dealings such as Mclean and Trapper havnt dont badly lately, they dont play a losing hand imo Playing hardball on Bate, even though it is just Bate it shows that if you want one of our players then you pay for them, no freebie types, but also showed that we will pay the price to get the Clark types not waste other clubs time like Fremantle did. And gets value form picks, not paying overs for the likes of O'Meara and Crouch

2011 Player Review - # 21 Lucas Cook
Jordie_tackles replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I look forward to Cook getting games when his form warrants it, simple really, no reason he cant play next season if he adds value to the team, that is the only deciding factor imo. But yes most likely this will be 2013 imo- 71 replies

This might come down to a long hard talk between Wonna and Mark Neeld to see where he is at, is it fair to keep Wonna at the expense of his teammates if he may never realistically play again? This is the big question will he play AFL again?
-
Its nearly worth starting a thread about, but Mark Neeld and 2012 will hold alot of surprises. Players like Bate may be reinvented our game plan will be different, alot of players get that extra preseason which when you have only done 2 is huge. writing players off like Bate may be a bit (alot) premature when we consider the massive changes which have already occurred this off season, the Grand final was only 2 weeks ago....crazy busy so far Another is Dunn, was nowhere last year but i remember his finish to 2010, it was epic
-
Collingwood? may be the only 1 who dont?
-
I have alot of appreciation and respect for Schwab he copped it hard mid year. Without him we may still be in debt Wouldnt have a great major sponsor May not have Mitch Clark ect He has reinvented the Clubs image Alot of good things have come from this man

We got 52 from Brisbane in a 3 way deal including GC for Warnock, dont think it is up yet http://www.afl.com.au/trade%20tracker/tabid/10490/default.aspx

Will now be a 5th Tall at best, that would suit alot of players being behind Clark,Watts, Jurrah, Martin, Jamar ect might expose a weak defender Neeld may see something in the guy, did play some good footy 2-3 years ago
