  1. Whats next Thommo, Rude Boy staged the family fued and violence so that melbourne would delist him and collingwood could pick him up?
  2. Sorry Thomo, but i think being a close friend to Liam makes him a friend of the club. Liam Jurrah wouldnt have played a single game of AFL if it wasnt for Rude Boy and others going above and beyond
  3. another factor is that GWS have a heap of talented, young, pacey mids. If any of our players will be leaving then i'd think Sylvia and Moloney are more likley. If blease does go it wont be to GWS
  4. i was onto that rat Scully early on. Blease is a different situation entirely. The only reason people are even discussing Blease leaving and going to GWS is because he's mates with Scully. Thats it. No preseason 'jungle drums', no drawn out saga's with GWS confirming an approach etc. Basically if Blease wasnt mates with scully then he would fit into the same catogory as Jones and Howe - Talented footy players whom other sides would have shown interest in. MFC signed them up. Blease will stay.
  5. Rivers is a keeper in my book Neeld keeps rabbiting on about how important games experience is so we cant get rid of another bloke with 100+ games up his sleeve! Neeld will be using the number of games experience get out of jail card for year to come at this rate!
  6. Range Rover, i fall somewhere between yourself and Tonatopia in the Neeld-love-spectrum, so i'll try to answer your question about why people might not 'like him'. To sum it up he's the scape goat for a disapointing season. i'll admit straight off the bat that those of us who saw the team under Bailey to be underachieving rather than downright poor will be less sympathetic to Neeld compared to those of you who havent rated half the list for seasons. Surley you can forgive some of us from feeling like our list was in need of a new direction but not a complete overhaul at the time of Neeld's appointment - after all our wins were generally good wins where we were able to dominate sides (albiet the poor sides in the comp..... this year we cant even do that, but thats another story?). The reality that we are a rubbish side is a harsh one and it is somewhat of a natural response to blame Neeld as he is the difference between last year and this year, or at least has driven the differences. Also, blaming Neeld was made easier because of his heavy handed attitude that he had when he first took the job. Telling the list that he would make them 'fitter, stronger and give them a game plan' IMO is a roundabout way of saying that the old coaching group didnt/couldnt allow them to do compete at AFL but he can. I find it hard to hear these types of things from a bloke that to date has only managed 3 wins himself, with a superior footy department and a boom recruit call Mitch Clark.
  7. just got the yearly 100% melbourne email The Melbourne Football Club is poised to take full advantage of the opportunities upon us for the 2012 trade period, leaving no stone unturned. We will be aggressive and uncompromising in the market place, as we focus strongly on securing players who fit within our premiership model. Right now, we are building a war chest – but we need your support. This is your chance to help us recruit the best. We need to be smart, and we need to be calculated about who we target, and at what cost. With early picks in our possession, these decisions are crucial and will not be taken lightly. Significant resources have been invested into our recruiting department to ensure we secure the best talent in the game to proudly wear the red and blue. We now ask you join us in our mission for a 13th premiership, by offering your support to help us recruit the best players in the country. lets hop we raise some good cash and find good players willing to accept it!

    Round 23

I'll be in the stands at subi oval cheering for #18, and hoping for a decent showing from the boys. At least the dockers have a track record of blowing games they can't loose so I have some distant glimmer of hope!
  9. dissapointed that he went to the tigers after beeing delisted. He got drafted from Swans! The bloke can find the ball and generally does good things with it. Could do far worse in the rookie draft
  10. Reflecting on Green's career, it was pretty remarkable how many 1st and 2nd year players came into our side and were valuable contributors from the get go back in~2000. Whats changed? I guess the style of game these days requires much higher levels of fitness and strength which take a few preseasons to obtain?
  11. I like that the coaches office has become a mini Q&A in recent times. The question about the win loss records was a good one, and i must admit i'm only partially sold by Neelds responce. When Neeld got the job i warmed to him because he seemed like he was a no excuses, no nonsence type of coach. Latley he's been finding some pretty obscure stats to somewhat justify the sides plight. I'm sorry, but the games experience excuse doesnt wash for me. How can you justify the losses with a stat like that, when you are in a position which has the ultimate say in selecting a side? If its such a big deal why not pick a more balanced side when it comes to youth and experience, and why let experienced guys like Green retire?
  12. I understand that AFL clubs need to pull rank and keep the lads in check, but a 2 match suspension is hefty if all he did was drink alcohol and rock up to training under the weather. I reckon you expose your match day performace to more risk by letting players go skateboarding or surfing as opposed to allowing them to an occasional drink 4-5 days out from a game. Imagine the outcry if nathan Jones was smashed by a dumper and popped out his shoulder. I reckon theres just as much chance of that happening as tehre is for someone to be effected on match day from a night out 5 days ago...
  13. He'd be a midfielder on our list He's an absolute gun - that 2010 season for Swan Dristricts was unreal
  14. I have no problem with AFL players drinking. It's not illigal and if it doesnt effect their on field form then there is no real problem in my eyes.
  15. I think you'd probably find that a bloke like Dunn and maybe Bate to a less degree (due to his ever changing role in the side, and the sub par results as a mid) have played for the club for so long that they'd prefer to stay than go. It might be the romantic 1 club player ideal but i wouldnt have thought Dunn would get a better run at any other club apart from Port, GCS or GWS and with a young child probably lieks playing in melbourne.
  16. I agree rpfc And it has been covered to death, but i truly believe if Viney doesn’t end up as a demon it will my era's equivalent to the norm smith sacking. It would haunt the club for decades.
  17. Its not Cook's fault we picekd him at 12. But i believe we need to learn that the u18 carnival is not the be all and end all when it comes to the draft. AA CHF from the carnival doesnt mean a great deal if he doesnt play a game in 2 years.
  18. I'd keep Green on for sure. If Demonland's general consensus had any say in our list management we’d end up with a bunch of under 25 year olds + Jamar?! Get rid of Green, get rid of Joel Mac, get rid of Sylvia and his mate Moloney We’d have no one left!
  19. Lads, just becasue viney didnt dominate in the carnival doesnt mean he isnt a top 3-5 selection in the draft IMO. We've picked guys who have had good carnivals before and its clearly not the be all and end all. He has all of the 'un-teachable' attributes which will hold him in good stead for a long career in AFL footy - desire to succeed, he loves the contest, doesnt shy away from body contact =, reads the play well etc I think we take him when we have to, and if thats with pick 4 so be it.
  20. I think we've gotten so used to the media running trash talk about our club that when Hawthorn and the Bulldogs steal the lime light we start to create our own!
  21. Range Rover, do you believe in Aliens? Anyway, little Libba and Buddy have stolen the negative spotlight for the time being!
  22. My comment was in relation to people bagging Schwab, our current ceo. Also, in relation to other CEOs being better than cam, I feel there's a bit of 'grass is greener' involved
  23. I guess my point is that it doesn't achieve anything, why not find the positives in people putting in their best efforts for the club
  24. People bagging out Schwab as a CEO becasue he isnt Brian Cook is like peole bagging out Nathan Jones or Brent Moloney because they arent garry Ablett or Jimmy Bartel. We'd love to have them working for us but they dont, so suck it up and support the guys we do have!
