  1. Thats a good point, in his position at the club i'd expect him to stand up and drive some sort of plan if there was no plan coming from elsewhere. Damned if you do, damned if you dont! Having said that, that's why Neeld is worth his pay cheque even though our win loss record is abysmal. At least the footy dept is united and clear on what they are trying to achieve now.
  2. Fyfe is a freak, Gysberts is not. Doesnt mean he cant be a great player for us. Not a Star of the comp like Fyfe is likley to be, but Gysberts will make it
  3. Please elaborate on the evidence, bacasue as per my first post in the topic, i have never seen hard facts that say X problem is down to Scwhab and Scwab only.
  4. I'm interested to hear why people say he didn’t do a good job at Freo? Fremantle are in a better position than ever right now, probably with little to do with Schwab, but before Schwab/Connelly Freo were an absolute joke. When I hear Freo supporters bag the Schwab/Connelly years I never quite understand what reasons they have for the bad mouthing. Didnt they clear the clubs debt and make finals for the first time under those guys?
  5. Its only rumours and speculation that lead me to have any negative feelings towards Cameron Schwab. On the flip side, he speaks well to the media, has obvious passion for the Melbourne football club and it's history. Whilst i'll admit the Blazers were a little cheesy, i generally like the way he romanticises our past. Also, getting too involved in Footy matters only shows to me that he is passionate about the club. He's stepped back now, and if things are running well i see no reason not to keep him on.
  6. He's got plenty of traits that make him appealing in a trade, got some decent pace and kicks goals from the mid field. Having said that, non demons fasn would probably rate ricky petterd alot higher than we do becasue they'd only remember his good marks, goals and 15 tackles insdie 50. You deffinatley get a different slant on players when they're in your side
  7. It's funny, when i first joined Demonland i did think once or twice that you could have been a club official trying to sway the opinion of the masses towards the clubs point of view! But Powerbroker? Thats is overstating it!
  8. another point RE cook, is perhaps by not giving him a game we are able to negotiate a contract value which reflects this? I'm guessing the club would be pretty keen to keep these types of player on pretty low contracts where possible to keep room for the end of season raid on free agents etc
  9. I like the in's to be honest Gysberts, Strauss and Tapscott need to deliver on glimpses of promise and the sooner the better. I'm a Fitzpatrick fan, although admit that to date he looks bad at AFL level. He looks a different player at VFL where he plays with confidence
  10. Range Rover take a few days away from this site, your borderline hysterical lately! If anything Demetrious comments reinforced that we weren’t tanking, because he doesnt believe “"experimention or, list management, whatever you want to call it” is tanking. I think he defines tanking as deliberately trying to loose a game, which we didnt do. We were aherad againt Richmond until after the siren? We were managing our list for future years. We didn’t have the mentality that we wanted to loose the games, we put more emphasis on playing the kids and seeing what our players have got when played in other positions because we understood that success was a few years away.
  11. interesting poll rpfc I agree with those who say that the only way to rid the AFL of tanking once and for all is to make the draft a lottery. As long as there is a 'reward' for coming last clubs will always put the cue in the rack and play the young blokes, experiment with positions and put injured players into surgery ahead of time, becasue only a fool wouldnt stat planning for the next season. But after seeing the blatant tanking that went on in the olympic badminton the AFL seems pretty discreet! We didnt deliberatley try to loose in '09, but retiring Yze, Robbo, White, Wheatley etc didnt allow us to compete as well as we might have in the short term. If that is tanking in a punishable form then every club is guilty
  12. the depressing thing about cmparing 2009 and 2012 is that both years we have been garbage, and both years we have pinned our future on the upcoming draft. 2nd time lucky?
  13. Range Rover, i generally enjoy your topics and agree with your angle on things around the MFC but i think your clutching at straws here mate
  14. If anything this thread proves why we should hold onto plenty of our young players. 2 seasons ago Jones was a whipping boy around here... Keep the faith
  15. What about Liar by Megadeth for next home game vrs GWS?
  16. That would be sweeeeet Not a big LoG fan but thats a great intro, would be epic to see a footy team run out to a song like that
  17. I'd love to see them run out to End of the Line Awesome intro
  18. Give mission some time and hopefully our boys will have Strength beyond strength We've grown into a monster. An arrogant, explosive motherf**k.!.
  19. i remember watching the come from behind win against freo in 2008 whilst listening to the album Watershed by Opeth. Early on we were getting pumped, so i turned off the commentary and put on Watershed. No single song from the album reminds me of the game, but vividly remember watching us come back from the dead whilst listening to the album! If we're talking about song titles that reflect my various feelings being a demons fan in recent years; Lost to Apathy - Dark Tranquility Angry Again - Megadeth Blind Faith - Dream Theater and if i had to pick a Pantera song title i'd go for Shattered, they way i feel after every game these days!
  20. We carry people on our list every year. Why not carry Jurrah (Reward>Risk IMO)
  21. The devil (demon) you know....... Carlton have put off talks until the end of the season. If Neeld wants experienced mature bodies i'd prefer to get Brock back than give a chance to someone who cant get a game in a good AFL list. Spin it which ever way you want, Mclean is a good AFL player. Not the best, but better than many on our list (based on current age/form)
  22. fair call, although in 2010 i would have told you that we'd have a midfield in 2012 that would be far more effective than the one we run out with currently
  23. looking back i find it funny how attitudes have changed. We dumped bailey and said 'a new coach with a sembilence of a game plan is all we need, our list is ready to take the next step, its talented, it just needs direction' 2012 Preseason and first few games 'Neeld is a hard case, he'll turn these spoilt brats into a good diciplined side, might take time but we have the footy department to turn this talented list into a decent AFL team' and now 'Dont judge Neeld on 2012 because he's only had the team for 5 mins. The list is garbage and we need to make wholesale changes to the list in order for Neeld's master plan to take shape, we'll be good in another 2 years....' I fear that a more experienced coach would have been able to implement a game style that allowed us to beat the teams we could beat under bailey, and get us to be more competative against the power clubs. We have Neeld for 3 years and he has a plan which is something we havent seemed to have for a while, but theres plenty of ways to get from A - B. I think we could have gotten to B in a less drastic manner and saved us all alot of pain! Getting back to the start of my post i hope that 2013 is the start of some on field success becasue i'm sick of revising my expectations on when we might be any good
  24. belzebub, i understand your sentiment but surley you need to look at this scenario with a bit of perspective? Sylvia running away after crashing his car on a night of poker and booze is DUMB Beamer going out and getting plastered and pi$sing on a bar is DUMB Jurrah being granted compasionate leave by the club and getting invloved in a family fued is COMPLICATED they're probably all dumb, to different degrees but surley a bit of empathy is required in such a scenario?
  25. i think the club will continue to stand by him. If the club were going to walk away from him they could have done so after the initial trip when the incident took place. I'm confident that they will be in contact with the AFL to talk through a range of scenarios, and make a decision on his future based on that.
