I spoke to a mate of Colin's after the melbourne dockers game in round 24. Apparently a year or so ago he was open to joining his mate Ben McGlynn in Sydney, as the move was good for him. However apparently he's kinda changed his mind and decided he should just concerntrate playing good footy at Melbourne, and thinks he's probably past the age for changing clubs.

Good pick up. A cats mate on mine had this to say By all counts coming out of the Geelong camp he was fit as a fiddle and performing well in the VFL this year, he was an emergency in most games and primarily didn't play AFL because Christensen & Motlop needed developing and were doing well enough to keep their spots... they reckon he has improved his forward pressure this year and was a great leader for the young guys in their VFL team (which won the premiership I might add)...

I'm happy with this signing. Having said that, if we got more players in the 'ageing' bracket i would be worried. We retired Green and got rid of moloney + Rivers may walk. If someone had asked you - who would you prefer Moloney or Byrnes you'd say Moloney in a heartbeat

If this trade did happen, i think it would be a short sighted move BUT perhaps Neeld is only interested in the next 2-3 years. He's trying to build a team that can compete, and Dawes and Wellingham would help us do that next year Still, I hope its a rumour!

The only thing that would make a trade including a first round pick for Dawes worse would be if we gave him #31 because he wears it collingwood....

A year is a long time isn't it? Last year lots wanted us to sign him up, or used his late development / on field results in 2011 to support the 'jack watts is going to be good' theory. A year later he's a spud?! Fwiw I do agree that he's a spud, but it's just funny how quickly he's gone from flavor of the month to a whipping boy.

It supprises me that we havent targetted any of the big names, as i presumed that thats why we fundrasied for a 'warchest' & made room on our list by pushing out Green, Moloney (+ Rivers?).

I hate lynch and his glove throwing antics but would secretly be glad if he finished his career with us. He can play, is as durable as you can get, and comes from a club with a winning culture

Thanks to those that run the site, and those who post. Demonland gives me an outlet for procrastinating at work like nothing else can! And for this I am truly thankful!

Its hard to see us improving more than the teams above us on the ladder, however with any luck we can do a WCE circa 2011, or Crows of 2012 and rise up the ladder and take the AFL comuninty by suprise

Got a twin pack of the team of the century Shiraz in the mail today, will have to put these away until we have some onfield success to celebrate!

Yeah i wouldnt move the earth to get him, but if he was keen and WCE accepted a trade like Bennell or Petterd for him i think we should go for it.
