I'm attempting to keep my expectations under wraps. If i look back to this time last year, we were all discussing how much depth we seemed to have and how 2012 was going to be a good year. These signings are great, but i dont want to go into 2013 expecting too much, however they seem to be ticking off all the right boxes for now.

Theres a few guys on our list who will be 'unlucky' to be delisted. Bail, Bartram, Jetta, MacDonald are the types of players who could count themselves unlucky if they were to find that their careers had come to an end. Having said that, if they do, our list is likely to be in a much better position than it has been to date, so its not all bad news!

I think Wines and Viney aren't as similar as people are worried about. Yes they're both tough competitors, but what's wrong with that? I'd prefer to pick a safe mid like wines who is going to compete with the big boys from day dot with pick 4, rather than draft a skinny skillful bloke who might end up being the best available. Not saying this needs to be the way we draft every year, but doesn't hurt to get some safer, ready made types this year after 3-4 years of punting on talent alone.

I think Dawes gives us somthing that probably only Jamar on our list could, which is a strong body who could wrestle under a high ball with the likes of Glass etc. However i Feel that Jack Fitzpatrick isnt far away from coming of age and holding down a spot

If we use pick 20 for Dawes, i'll be a little disapointed but i'll bite my tounge until mid 2013. I thought pick 12 for Clark was overs but turned out to be a master stroke. Perhaps we have the same scenario here. I hope we dont use pick 20 + a pig pay day to lure Dawes though....

I'd agree, unless Neeld believes that "the hardest team to play against' is made up of 190cm+ monsters, and a handful of mids!

the only people who are disapointed about this trade are those who want to wait until 2020 for us to be any good. I think MFC have got the balance absolutley right this time. Going into this period any of us would have been happy with Viney @ 3, swap pick 4 for Hogan & another good mid at 13. Now we have Viney, Hogan PLUS pick 4 (which sould secure us a long term gun player). I suspect we will chase Dawes too with 20. This will give us a good mix of players who will make a differnce in 2013 and players who will be neck deep when we are pushing for finals. Bravo MFC PS. GWS are stockpiling young talent becasue they know 1/4 of them will get homesick and request to leave anyway.

Im not sure if Wines and Viney are best mates like the media make them out to be, but i def think theres an upside in picking players who know each other and have played together before.
