  1. Didnt notice alot of him to be honest mate
  2. need to put games into Gysberts, Bennell, Blease, Strauss, Tapscott, McDonald i reckon keep the team the same +/- 1 or 2 players for the rest of the year, let them learn the game plan with a settled 22
  3. Whilst the result on the weekend was worse than the previous year (in terms of margin), I couldn’t help but feel more optimistic after this year’s loss to West Coast. Last year I left the ground disappointed with the players effort and skill level; this time around I left feeling like we had some positives to build on, which helped me cope with the barrage of abuse that was dished out in my direction at the Subi hotel! I’m not sure how it looked on TV, but at Half time the scoreboard looked ugly, but we were matching it with them in general play IMO. If it wasn’t for some dubious free kicks we would have been in touch (that was how it looked from my perspective, without any TV or Radio commentary swaying my opinion). Our forward line got hardly any opportunities but Mitch Clark was able to kick 5 goals from five ½ chances & Lynden Dunn played well enough. Our backline fought hard all day and I think that we have enough talent back there for long term planning. In the Midfield we weren’t able to get our hands on the ball – simple as that. But as a general rule when we did have the ball we did ok. As much as I hate the Eagles they are a league above us for now. If anything we should take heart from their improvement . Scott Selwood was a very limited footballer a few seasons ago and he’s now racking up the possessions and kicking goals from 50 on acute angles. 2 seasons ago I would have said he was a tagger at best. Whilst the eagles might have “tanked” to pick up Gaff, and spread rumours about discipline and alcohol to secure Darling, the Eagles were a very average team only a few seasons ago and 2 players can change the fortunes of an entire side. Glass, Cox and Kerr are champion players which we don’t have the likes of, but if Neeld and Co play their cards right over the next few years we can be a good side too. Interested to see how we go against the Tigers who we have seemed to have the wood over for a couple of seasons now.
  4. Righto. I dont have a problem with them overlooking a defender like Talia when we had Frawley, Garland, Rivers, Warnock & Grimes. Warnock looked the goods back then. I still dont think we necessarily need more defenders
  5. Im a gysberts fan Out of all of the "should have drafted him" scenario's its the gysberts one I have no issues with. IMO where we got it wrong was back when we took the guys like Dunn, Bate, etc. Guys in this age group should be walk up starts in the 22 but they're not. Even Strauss/Blease are much more iffy than Gysberts IMO
  6. Cam Schwab “When this great club was foundered back in 1858, we played with no jumper sponsors. The recent termination of our energy watch sponsorship allows us to embrace this tradition once again” .
  7. Winner - Demonland quote of the week! Is there nothing else happening in the world of sport?
  8. i think we could have had Shuey, Gaff, Selwood and any one else and they wouldnt be the players that they are at West Coast. Sad but true. They've learnt of Premiership players who know what it takes.
  9. Reading through that team list i can help but think of old dee's 100+ posts about lepoards not changing their spots.... its basically the same team as rge last time they met although they've gotten better!
  10. love the enthusiasm but we'll get pumped
  11. wonder if Aaron will be omitted on form alone this week?
  12. yeah im gutted about this injury - Gysberts is a point of difference in an otherwise very similar group of midfielders IMO Same with Jetta
  13. When he played for brisbane i wasnt worried about the impact he was going to have against us.....
  14. mate, its one of only a few times each year i get the chance to see the boys play live. I've also flights and accomodation to go and see them get obliterated against the Hawks in round 7! what did RPFC say in the other thread? Being a Dee's supporter is character building!!
  15. We've played one game mate. And frankly those stats dont mean alot if you cant get your hands on the easy uncontested posessions to go along with the "hard ball".
  16. i think i'm going to have to get to the subi hotel at opens, that way i may be numb to all emotion by the time the game is over
  17. Neeld could have been rubbish and it wouldnt change a thing in my eyes. Actions on field is the only yard stick that i'll measure him on. At this stage his still all talk
  18. Sorry mate, that title belongs to an elder statesman of this forum - old dee is #7's #1 critic!
  19. One advantage of being soundly beaten by the lions is that our expectations of the year will be more realistic than they were prior to Saturday
  20. Thats what i thought. Its not like he was played on the ball and struggled to find it.
  21. Well argued but i dont buy it. These guys are listed at AFL clubs. They arent a bunch of rugby league converts learning the game for the first time. They shouldnt need to learn to suck eggs. For all of the talk about game plans and the like, i dont believe it makes that much difference. Yes it might make the difference between a premiership and a finals berth, but not winning and loosing against a less fancied opponent.
  22. One bad game, and he's on the scrap heap? Give Beamer a break
  23. Was Davey really that bad?
  24. <p style="margin-left: 40px"><strong>We need</strong>; Reality Check - we wont win a flag with this list</p> <p style="margin-left: 40px"> </p>
  25. Its been a while since i've seen the lads win a game at Subi thats for sure.
