No doubt a superstar. A loyal one at that. In the time i have followed the dees (i started regularly going to games by myself in 1977) he has been our only superstar (Schwarz pre knee injury was oh so close). I really believe he is the most underrated player in my time following football. He wasn't as dynamic (in the crash and bash sense) as a player like Carey or Matthews but was every bit as influential. Funnily enough i see a lot of Flower in Fyfe.

What was more ironic was that i initially misspelt ironically ... and changed it before you could point it out (note: misspelt comes a spell check error, whic is an error by spellcheck i believe)
-
And ironically didn't fix them all !
-
Are you implying he doesn't? On second thoughts i've got no idea what you are saying.

Great minds and all that.

Very easy to mistake opinion for truth. A mistake many people make, especially here on DL.

[censored]. utter [censored]. And i don't say that lightly. I can't believe the hate for Col. Bizarre. 150 games for our club. 150 games. More than 10 seasons playing in the red and blue and he deserves vitriol because he didn't reach his potential and was a party boy? he cheapens life membership? Really? Adam Yze, Russel Robertson and Travis Johnston. All life members. All players who it has been argued could have got more out of their talent if they worked harder. All party boys apparently. Do they cheapen the life membership?

Training, Friday 18th December, 2015 (and BBQ)

I had to laugh when i watched the video where he nominated himself as the surprise packet for 2016. I wondered if he was poking fun at himself and his reputation or he was actually being sincere. Either way if he does go up a few level from last year could be an important factor in an improved season for the dees. -
Which player would we be discussing if we were?

Because it rhymes with Wagner?

Interesting predictions. Players out till August 2017 would end some careers - how old is Jobe Watson? Hopefully we'll know soon enough

Correct me if i'm wrong but haven't your 'sources' indicated the book will be thrown at them, that WADA will go after Hird and other high ups and that the players will get long sentences (two years IIRC)? You seem to be softening your predictions. To avoid post announcement spin perhaps you can provide succinct answers to the following questions , based of course on your intel from sources. Note that i am assuming they will be found guilty. How long will the penalties be for the players? How many games will the players actually miss after backdating and other considerations are taken into account? Will WADA go after Hird, the board etc as you have previously forecast? If your answer is to number 3 yes (and i'd be surprised if it wasn't) will they announce their intention to do so when handing down the findings on players (which would seem the logical time)? For balance my answers to these questions are as follows: 18 months 10 (available to play from round 11) No Thye will be asked their intentions, suggest they will look into it and drop it thereafter

One of my rules for life. Always get photographed front on. A related one is to always back away from a mirror -
He looks like bloody superman. A terrific player who reads the play so well. I'm positive they will play him as an inside mid, which is where he has always been best suited. If he comes back it will be like getting a free top ten draft pick (to offset the ones we have lost)

Have just watched the replay of this match. For me the highlight was that on a couple of occasions, most notably in the first quarter, Geelong pushed hard and looked like tting on top but we fought back. Brayshaw was a highlight also, so fierce. Was a pretty good game by Watts and watching the game again reminded me how often he is involved in our scoring chains.

I watched some youtube clips on the weekend (there is a bunch of good stuff here https://www.youtube.com/user/Jackhammer1796) and was reminded of how good Brayshaw was last season. Some of his tackling is ferocious - the Geelong game has some terrific examples. But the thing that jumped out was the number of goals he set up intercepting or linking up at half back, running and carrying and kicking long into our forward line. Gartlett got at least 3 goals as a result and Spencer got a crucial one against Geelong. Deceptively pentrating and accurate kick (of both legs) who will only get longer as he gets stronger.

I thought so too. Hence my new(ish) avatar. -
That's funny you should say that. I was saying to a mate on Friday that several of the top draft picks were being compared to Jake Stringer when in fact I reckon Jake Stringer should be compared to the track ie Stringer is the trac mark 2. I'm not sure he'll make the same impact as Hogan but there is a few similarities. One is that the Trac has sat out a season, another is that he now has an AFL ready body. Another is he has an X factor and also shares the Hogan swagger. A gun. I suspect he will play half forward and be a very hard match up given the best back will have to go to Jessie, a decent player will have to cover Gartlett and if fit Kent will pose some problems in terms of match ups. Looking at photos the track is a beast, almost too big. Big in the legs he'll be hard to move off the ball in the way that Leigh Matthews was and he will be a real handful. I reckon 25 goals is a possibility. If he stays fit he is likely to play all games and is great vale for the Rising Star at $6.50
