  1. Dunn not in our best 22? Please.
  2. Like red heads are callwd bluey maybe tiptoes is brayshaw?
  3. An important element in this play was getting the melk. Some on dl think we paid covers and some said we went to early and should have waited to drive the price up. But getting it done early was critical as it didn't hold up other trades and indeed it gave ESS some currency to get their trades moving. In the end it mattered little if we gave up 25 or 29. Also we needed to ensure if we were going to angle for high draft picks that we got a player with approx the same number of games and age as howe lest we unbalance the list. In an ideal world we would also get a player who could slot into the back line to replace howe. And we wanted a tough, hard running competitor. Given all that clearly it was not overs after all. The melk perfectly fitted the bill and as required we got it done early and without fuss. Well played A+ for mine
  4. That's a nonsense. Over is over. He was impaired. If he had been involved in an traffic incident that required him to react his impairment might have caused an accident. If there was a fatality he would likely go to jail for manslaughter - even if the accident wasn't his fault. Assuming Carlisle didn't drive - and there is no suggestion he did - who did he put at risk other than himself?
  5. Do we need more mids? Absolutely. In fact it remains our biggest need. The top teams have 10 a or b grade mids. How many do we have?
  6. Kudos. In a bare season for rumours you nailed a good one
  7. I know nothing about future players but i have to say i would be concerned about picking up Weideman given the fact that he suffered this year from a foot fracture. Even though Jetts and Garland overcame foot fractures we have first hand experience of how difficult it can be to get back from one with Clark and Trenners. That said i have no idea what the actual fracture was and it may not have been a navicular. Still any foot issue is a worry.
  8. Fair point. I agree with you on the point about how he could have arrived at the brilliant idea of sending a video of himself to anyone doing a line. What a fuckknuckle. Also did i hear right that he did the line in the US? If so he's taking a pretty big risk career and life wise. A drug charge in the states would mean he might end up in jail and most certainly would never be able to travel there again.
  9. And nor should it. Said it before and say it again the players were insane to agree to including use of illicit drugs outside of match day testing. In any case he hasn't tested positive and for all Jake and anyone else knows what he thought was coke might have been talc
  10. It's nice to be cryptic but what does this mean? Who the hell is Shaun Smith's son?
  11. Love this quote: 'Parish tested at the combine but didn't stand out in any of the events. That shouldn't be a surprise or a worry. He's a natural footballer and one who steps up a level when the ball is there to get and offers plenty of dash.' In case anyone missed it Roos, PJ and Mahoney have been crystal clear who they want at the club - competitors. Parish sounds like one. The Melk and Kennedy both appear to be competitors. Add these pick ups to recent pick ups like Petracca, Brayshaw, Viney and Vandenburg and we have a core of hard at it fierce players. I love that the club has a clear, publicly stated plan for building their list and they have gone about getting the type of players who fit that plan. I watched the GWS replay for the first time last night (withdrawal pains) and what stood out is how fierce the players were. Salem taking down Cameron and competing with much bigger players, his niggle and refusal to back down, the attack on the ball by Harmes (and his niggle with McCartney), Vineys manic tackling, Michies attack on the ball, Gawndogs energy and Hogans ferocity both in the air but also on the ground. Terrific to watch and exactly what Roos wants. I have no doubt Watts was dropped for that game to send him a clear message that you get with the program or see ya round. He said as much a couple of weeks later when making a public statement that he was super keen to stay with the dees but knew he needed to get more competitive. Players who we want (ie competitors) will want to come to our club. Bring on 2016. Oh and well done Josh.
  12. Some of the angst on this thread about our deals thus far is ridiculous. We got what the market determined, nothing more nothing less. I had a bit of time for Howe but certainly recognised his limitations. People commented on his turnover in the last game following his specy. I thought more typical was that the kick did not lead to the resulting goal, his decision to drag the ball in and get pinged in front of goal did. I just reckon he is not that smart a player. Most on DL don't rate Howe that highly yet some think a professional football club will rate him more highly and offer up a top 20 pick? The whole GC is a furphy, not least because we don't actually know what we would have ended up getting. The Melk? Are people seriously worried about the difference between pick 25 and 29? The Toump? Fact is he had his opportunity to cement his future at the dees and as much as i always maintained it was too early to say if he was a bust as player (and to an extent still in that he might still go up a level) it's not too early to say he was a bust for us. Again most of DL did not rate him yet somehow we were going to get an early second round? If we get bugg for pick 50 then we are on top. As for the fact that he was a pick 4 again it is a furphy and the reality busts happen and clubs also don't always get great deals to happen. Many here seem to laud Collingwood for their shrewd negotiating yet the best they got for Freeman (who didn't even play a game for them), a pick 10, was a swap of picks in the sixties and the saints second rounder next year. If that was us people would be gnashing and wailing. Edit: just watched the replay of the GWS as i had had yet to watch the replay. I remember at the game being annoyed with Howe for his stupidity costing us a goal. He didn't drag the ball in after all. He bloody tapped it out when he should have held it under him. There's no way he would have been pinged as he never really took the ball , just ended up on the bottom of the pack. Broke rule 101 and tapped it out in the back line and they scored. Dim wit.
  13. Like melb with melksham? Yet when we do it we are weak according to some posters
  14. The thread title would suggest so
  15. i know we need mids but would Carlisle be of interest? I'm guessing Essendon would ask for pick 6 but perhaps we could give them pick 6 and they could give back the pick 25. to be honest i'm not convinced about Carlisle but despite having some decent backs i reckon another quality backmen to take the the power forwards would help TMac and Dunn
  16. We don't have nearly enough scapegoats to kick so i'm pleased the Melk (a Melbourne Elk) is on board.
  17. All the comments in this thread about MFC being anally raped are quite frankly bizarre and a disturbing insight into the minds of some posters (all men i assume).
  18. There has been very little use of future picks in this trade period thus far. Hypothetically if gc were open ti trading would our pick 6 and first rounder next year (likely 9-12) get it done?
  19. Or Taylor or viney? Never ceases to amaze me some on DL think they no more about trade value than footy pros
