Agree PD on both these points. Great golas kicking instincts and can kick with both feet, which is unusual for a lefty (and i love the fact he is a lefty - we have quite crew of lefties now, something i have no doubt was a delibertate focus in recruiting). I think the long kick in the first quarter that set up Garlett's first goal was right foot. I have watched the two interviews he has done with Burgan and he seems a really switched on, smart fella. It's great to have a good smattering of such players at the club. Also comes across as very level headed. A really interesting selection.

Treloar wasn't their best mid. At least i don't think so. I would have had Greene, Cognilio and Shiel all ahead of him.

Not sure i agree. It was instructive they did nor chase a tall defender last trade period. They obviously are confident the omac boys will do the job. Risky also as a tall key back who is actually any good will cost an arm and a leg. And if they then dont perform you have a lot of broken eggs in one basket. Early days for carlisle but he could not keep up with hogan and was almost a liabilty. An exspensive gamble by the saints. They might have been better trading in a couple of decent mid sized, mobile half backs like we did with hibberd and melksham. There is also less need for stay a5 home gorilla keepers as there are less stay at home gorillas. Hogan is the proto type forward. Strong, can clunk marks but huge tank and gets around the ground - can even go into the midfield. Look at what hawkins has done wirh his physique and where/how he played against freo. A key back has to be able to run with the forwards now.

You're kiddind aren't you? Do you honestly think they only plan for the next match?

Jones said on SEN (he is on Tuesday mornings at about 7am on a segment called The Inner Sanctum) that having a stronger midfield has enabled him to play less time as a mid and more time on the wing and HB. He said it makes a huge difference in terms of post game recovery not getting smashed from pillar to post all game. Has to help during games, both in terms of being fresher for games but also less physically worn during games

The thread title implies some degree of competitiveness between Gawn and Kruezer, but they are in two different leagues. Gawn vs Kruezer is like: Winx vs Prized Icon Real Madrid vs Perth Glory Ali v Bugner Spurs v Melburne United Bolt vs anyone Dees vs Bliues You get the idea.

Agree but also let give jack the credit for getting front position. On on the couch they were talking about the likelihood of teams only having the one ruck man and Jackson Trengove being the new model of the second ruck - a mobile, versatile player who plays forward but can be an on baller as well. Funny because Jack was really the first to play that role last year (a Goodwin innovation?)

No im certainly not. Of course he still needs to develop and improve. Jones makes that point in this excellent piece from radio tgis morning when responding to a question from jimmy bartel about how well the mac bros work together He also makes the point that he and his brother are the twin pillars down back and work togeher very well. If you dont likw omac you better get used to seeing him week in and week out https://embeds.audioboom.com/publishing/playlist/v4?bg_fill_col=%23ecefef&boo_content_type=channel&data_for_content_type=3381427&image_option=small&link_color=%2358d1eb&player_theme=light&src=https%3A%2F%2Fapi.audioboom.com%2Fchannels%2F3381427%2Faudio_clips%3Finclude_child_channels%3D1#Nathan Jones - Inner Sanctum Tuesday 27th March 2017

What is FACT is that you stated that Omac is not up to the required standard. For the sake of the argument lets say Goodwin agrees with your assessment of OMac. If that were the case goodwin could have instead selected either keilty (who played Omac's role very successfully for much of last year) or pederson, who has lost 10kgs in order, in his words, to be come more mobile. Pederson is an experienced AFL player who is fit and has played CHB before. This was must win game - as both Bernie and Lewis (and any number of commentators) said post game a potential 8 point game that could well set up our season. Are you honestly saying Goodwin would, in these circumstances, pick a player not up to AFL standard? What is fact is that since being first selected by Roos (and Goodwin who would have had a major say in selection last year) OMac has not been dropped once. What is also fact is that he was selected in all 3 of the JLT games, games in which Goodwin made it clear he was picking his best 22. Goodwin had the the opoportunity to give someone else a chance in the JLT and didn't. What was interesting in this regard is that he elected to bring in Hannan and jetta, who didn't play JLT, showing he was prepared to drop players. And he didn't drop OMac. What is fact is Omac continues to be selected every week, suggesting he is a lock for best 22. it also suggests Goodwin does not agree with your assessment that Omac is not up to the required standard. To be honest STMJ i think you are confusing FACT and SUPPOSITION.

Agree, sort of. i think he has really enhanced his ability to move laterally and side step. And perhaps is more explosive from a standing start. He is also an excellent left foot kick now. Full respect to him as he has continuously improved his game through his career, something few players do really (at least as much as he has). Some credit must go to roosy in this regard as he challenged jonesy a couple of years ago to go to another level - something Jonesy initially resented i think but then took on board. I always rated Jones as a solid B grade player but he is really pushing A grade level now i reckon.

Spot on. There is absolutely no chance omac will be dropped. What does that tell you? It tells me Goodwin does not share the view of some DL posters about his ability and form. Similarly it was not surprise to see Goodwin contradict the views of a number of DL posters who suggested Jetta might struggle to get back into the side. As if you leave our most consistent and reliable defender out of the side. He is smart, predictable, does not waste possessions, rarely tuns the ball over, understands his role (and his limitations) and as roos pointed out after he completely out marked a saints forward one on one hardly ever beaten in a one on one duel.

Then last week was an aberration as they only put segments up on fox sports not whole episodes - which makes sense given they want people who actually pay to get some benefit

I have to say picture is not great for me when i use chromecast. But it's ok. As you say it does often seem to start crap but then gets better. But it is a long way from HD for me.

Completely disagree about your hypothesis as to why he gets selected and that he 'nowhere near the required standard'. In regard to the latter, with respect, it is complete nonsense to say 'its the fact of the matter'. Clearly Goodwin shares my opinion as there is no way on god's good earth he would select a player who was 'nowhere near the required standard'. No way. Winning this game was critical. As if they would have selected a player who they thought was not up to AFL standard. Sheesh. Goodwin selects OMac because he believes he fully deserves his spot. The time has (largely) passed for selecting for the future. The one exception to that rule in my book is Weideman, who is good structurally but is borderline in terms of being a better selection that Pederson. By the by i'm happy for weeds to be in the side. Omac can play the zone defense properly and i have no doubt Goodwin was behind his early inclusion last year at the expense of Dunn.

You would think so but it was 15 hors today

Long and frustrating story. Short version is you are supposed to be able to use your live pass on multiple devices (which means access to replays on your pc) but due to 'technical issues' atm you can only use afl live pass on the device you used firts to subscribe. Telstra advised via crowd support portal (which ridiculosy how they manage all communication about live pass) months ago issued would be resolved by the begginning of season. It isnt and they have not answered my query as to when it will be. Hopeless But i use chromecast to mirror to tv and it works super well. Apple tv works as well apparently for iphones, ipads etc

I'm in as The Phoenix. Who won last year?

Yes, they are. Apple to Chromecast isn't

You're right. The wrong turn of words on my part. However a loss in this game could (i stress could) mean the diffetence between making the 8 or not. How about season shaping
