  1. Melbourne has not made the finals since 2006 and has won just 10 games in three seasons. It kicked three goals against the second worst points against team for 2014, managing to kick five goals or fewer for the sixth time this season. If ever a team had a case for a priority pick it is the Demons. If they don't receive one, which they probably won't given the problems seem bigger than one extra pick could solve, then the priority pick is effectively dead. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-08-17/five-talking-points-melbourne-v-gws
  2. He was pretty measured. Basically said not up to AFL standard and couldn't believe the poor quality of disposal. Agreed with the assessment that the players looked like they had put the cue in the rack for the season and were satisfied with 4 wins. Would change the game plan if it was that simple. They evaluate players on a weekly basic to determine who is up to AFL standard. 3-5 year project to rebuild the club. Chose not to speak to the players after the game as there were no positives to discuss.
  3. Really liked the reference to the Houston Rockets who I used to followed fervently as a kid. I just watched the video of their second championship for the first time and their ability to used failure to galvanise them to victory is a great lesson for the Dees. Also helped they had one of the best players (Hakeem Olajuwon) in the league at time! Love the way Olajuwon used the fact David Robinson won the 94-95 MVP as motivation to smash him in the playoffs too. Was a shame they couldn't keep it together for the following year. Would have been great to see Olajuwon, Drexler and Barkley face off agianst Jordan and the Bulls in the playoffs.
  4. All I can say is that it's the only live game I'll be able to see in 2 years (overseas the last 12 months and heading back again shortly) so mightily dissappointed with what was dished up today. Was expecting at least a good contest but was bored shitless for most of it. Let's hope when I'm back in a years time things will be on the up!
  5. Speaks well on camera and certainly comes across as being quite mature and confident for a young fella. Great stuff!
  6. Also a few trees to dodge!
  7. Nice pics. DRC must have been pretty minded blowing. Were you based in Kinshasa? Definitely a place I'd like to visit when I'm back in Ethiopia. Here's something random I saw not far from Addis Ababa just before coming home, make of it what you will!
  8. Hmm, I've got a long list of stuff I want to take back with me already! But will have to consider that. I think there is some promo work happening in Kenya at the moment so who knows maybe they'll be able to ship something over.
  9. Bit hard at the moment with the World Cup going on But on a side note, there are high altitude training facilities here that would surely be far cheaper to use than the ones in the US!
  10. For the last 12 months: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Currently back in Victoria for a month before heading back for another stint in Addis, so looking forward to actually seeing us play live against the cats with my old man (Geelong supporter). Been a long time since we played them at the G!
  11. Roos summed it up in his presser: "I don't know the rules" - This coming from a legend of the game...
  12. I am sure Richmond fans felt the same way about us beating them twice in 2010...similar situation this time around where dogs are about a year ahead of us in terms of development and skill
  13. I wonder if they brought Dom in this week to give him a taste so they can give him a full game next week in Darwin?
  14. But still butchered one of our best forays forward in the last with a poor inside 50...but I'll forgive him given he was hardly alone there.
  15. First full game I have watched for a year after being overseas since last July. Incredibly frustrating, more than anything because I am sicking of watching us lose. Nothing much has changed but I guess at least we are competitive now and can fight out way back into games. The next step will be learning to win the close ones, and lets face it. The boys haven't had much practice in that regards over the last few years. Gotta keep reminding myself of where we have come from and there are definitely glimpses of talent and a solid game plan. I still bloody hate losing to the doggies(twice!) though!!
  16. Could this be part of a plan to attract more supporters to the games so as to earn more gate revenue?
  17. Any chance we can double out score in the last quarter?
  18. I would certainly be very surprised if the MFC and Mitch hadn't put plans in place for a possible return to the club. I mean from the perspective of both parties, not having such a contingency in place would have put even more pressure on what was already a very difficult decision, especially for Mitch. That doesn't mean it will happen of course, but I strongly believe the club would have made arrangements with the AFL to ensure he could return to the list next year.
  19. Wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube men!
  20. For a second there I thought you were talking to yourself!
  21. Was awesome to wake up to the great news on another continent! BTW when's the last time we won in front of a 50,000+ crowd?
  22. From memory this echoes comments made by other players during the preseason. It sounds like Neelds 'football university' was actually more of a primary school...the players apparently treated as such and therefore played accordingly.
  23. Paul Roos signed up for another 3 years?
  24. How's the attendance numbers looking?
  25. Still better than the Fuschias...
