  1. I closed the thread because it had become an egotistical chest beating exercise by just a few people. No new points were being raised and no "fresh light" was being thrown on the issue. In addition I was receiving PM's from other posters who thought it offensive and received support from posters when it was closed. No Ivor, I didn't ask the other moderators if I should close it. Firstly if we had a committee meeting every time an issue like this arose nothing would get done and secondly there is no reason the topic can't be discussed in other threads. If you have decided that because of a closed thread Demonland is not for you then fine and well, but I suggest you try and show a little more resilience. And Deebest if you didn't read the thread how can you suggest we are sweeping important issues under the table? The "uh-oh" thread was four pages long for heavens sake, how is that denying people an opportunity to debate important club decisions? I suggest you read the thread and you'll see how silly and petty it had become. It's still there for all to see, it's not hidden in some dark corner so members and supporters can't see it. With love from your happy moderator, Fan!
  2. I think everyone here has had a chance to make their point. Discussion, or at least the thread, is closed.
  3. JJJ and BR, thanks. Did Rivers join full training?
  4. The Best 1. Cale Morton 2. Colin Garland 3. Stef Martin 4. Jack Grimes overcoming a significant injury, playing a game and doing a full PS to Christmas. 5. Dean Bailey's composure under pressure. The Worst 1. Round 19 (Geelong) 2. Round 21 (PA at AAMI) 3. Round 22 (Richmond) Wins and losses mean nothing in a year like 2008. Players are our future and I think we have 4 rippers. I'd nearly include round 20 in the worst (where we beat WC) but the last four games of the season were the most painful I've had to sit through.
  5. Get this thread back on track guys or it will be closed. Fan
  6. Fork and Rhino: Meesen, Bell and Moloney are all contracted for 2010.
  7. Many thanks Alpha for your excelent work on Demonland and the effort you put into your reports. They are very much appreciated.
  8. Thanks Jack, great read as usual. I started off trying to hate Buckley but in the end I had nothing but admiration for him. Emma's book sounds interesting but she didn't take a risk with who she followed did she? All of those blokes went first round. It would have been interesting to see her follow some of the lesser lights like Cheney and McNamara.
  9. DeeTox that is the best Avatar I've ever seen. Well done!!
  10. No he isn't, he didn't play the games and he didn't get the votes. Why you can't allow a player who has only once finished outside the top 10 in his career (his first year) the enjoyment of his victory is beyond me. Well done Cam, a well deserved reward for 9 years of footy for our club.
  11. Bump. I'm on the war path guys, it's time we did better.

  13. I only read a fraction of what is posted but today I've seen a number of posts that ridicule and abuse players and past employees of the club which is totally unnecessary. Everyone is welcome to make their point, but do it respectfully, if not I'll just delete the post with no explanation. It won't be fair because I'm not going to read everything. Some stuff that should be deleted won't be, but that's the way it is. Fan

  16. I thought I'd start a separate thread to thank Barry, his wife Mavis, Barry Junior and Whistler for the years of service keeping Melbourne supporters up to date with what been happening at Sandy. I'm not a huge surfer of footy websites but of the ones I've seen Demonland stands apart because of the efforts of people like Barry who take the time to write reviews and provide information to the forum's members. And it's not only the information that is fantastic, it is the quality and reliability of the delivery which really is at a professional standard. Barry it was in no small part your influence that got me down to Sandy on a regular basis which ultimately led to many good friendships with both Sandy and Melbourne supporters. Many thanks for the hours of work, the good humour and the mountain of information that you have provided, it's been a mighty effort and one you should be very proud of. All the best with your move north. I'm wondering if you'll end up following Southport or maybe the new GC17 team or if you'll leave footy behind and start showing Mavis the attention she so richly deserves. Somehow I think footy is in your blood and we'll be hearing from you on a pretty regular basis. We all look forward to Kevin Charles reports. If he's anything like his father we'll hardly know you've gone!!! Cheers Barry, thanks and all the best in your future endeavours.

  18. I was most fortunate to meet them both and stand with them on the forward flank. This piece reminds me of their welcome to me and their humour. They were greatly missed. Thanks WJ for a fitting tribute at the end of our assocation with Sandy to two great Sandy men and wonderful companions.
  19. How about you make your comments relevent? Whilst I don't always agree with Joeboy's analysis it has been a feature of this site for years now and is one of the few threads I read. The benefits of Joeboys comments is that they have the potential to open a whole range of football discussion issue. Please stick to commenting on footy. If you don't like the thread, simply don't read it. Thanks.
  20. A voice of reason in the wilderness. Sadly those that will appreciate it had probably worked it out already, those that don't never will.
