  1. Junior Mc Donald says hi too.
  2. He wouldn't accept the pay cut...........though.......... maybe a union slush fund by some other name????
  3. Right on track re Quayle. Positive factual well researched stuff. And I love your description of the sad, bitter, malicious Ms Wilson - I have been trying to find a way of describing her countenance without appearing sexist of misogynist (conventional definition) and that is just spot on.
  4. It is refreshing that The Age still does have one true journalist, one that does not choose to hang any personal dirty washing that she may have out in public. Well done Emma.
  5. Thanks Pearl. My thoughts too on the altitude stuff was that it was not long-lasting - OK for Le Tour de Drug, but maybe not for a 6 month footy season. Your comments re training for thermoregulation were interesting - I guess that could be better maintained during a season by "hot box" training rooms.
  6. Should these be on the Dayle Garlett thread? :-)
  7. Not so sure about the high temperatures though. Currently Tucson, which I presume is lower than the training camps, is running just above zero nights and low 20s days.
  8. I guess, in the (hopefully very rare) event that he has an off day, it just invites the opposition to rejoin with "TOOUUMMP......ASS"
  9. The altitude training is actually about blood thickening I believe I am unsure of the physiological benefits of heat / humidity training, and whether they are long term or not, but I guess it may be a more realistic simulation of running around and getting exhausted on game day than the altitude stuff. Possibly the 'blood thickening' effects of altitude ie increased oxygen carrying capacity (short lived I believe anyway, not a full season for certain) could even be a negative for burst type sports. Our game is an interesting mixture of both. Does anyone know if sprinters do the altitude thing or just endurance athletes??
  10. I don't know just where i Colorado the others go, but Denver is at 5280 feet, lower than Kosiuszko, and I think that Falls Creek is about the same. Good on our guys for trying something different - Missen is "an expert" and I would trust his judgement. There was at one stage talk of using Guangzhou or somewhere nearby for "altitude training" but that seems to have been put aside in favour of "heat and humidity".
  11. Please answer this simple question: who took the mark on the siren and kicked a very difficult long goal? Bailey? Connolly? Schwab?Had we really wanted to make sure of losing at that time, surely Brock would have been instructed to 'do a Jimmy' and step over the mark to ensure the goal.
  12. Does anyone have the link to the podcast? What time was it. Thanks for the info Lace Out I searched SEN - couldn't find a podcast. Anyone found one?
  13. I did now - test again bold italic underline
  14. Great footballer, or even better, Super man?
  15. Macbook - testing bold, testing italic All buttons are 'greyed out'
  16. One can never ever have enough back up mids. To any who said pre-draft why get more - here is one answer.
  17. One look at her and one can see that she is just a bitter, miserable person with a huge chip on her shoulder who likes to stir up trouble just for the sake of it. Pity it wasn't she who resigned.
  18. mordja - I must say whilst I would normally agree with your sentiments regarding olislk's gloomy outlook on life, for once I tend to share at le sst some of his 'reservations' on Pedersen. Look, he may well turn out to be a good find but has yet to prove his worth. So whilst I remain optimistic as I always am at this time of year,, I aren't quite as excited, as yet, as are some.
  19. My sentiments exactly. A power forward is such a rare commodity, especially in our recent history, and for one with any sort of dicky foot surely just let him play forward...as well we do have other ruck back up options.
  20. Maybe you shouldn't have mentioned that: I can envisage opponents covering themselves with board wax, and maybe surreptitiously slipping some on to the ball :-)
  21. On my Macbook Air the formatting buttons don't appear. Any advice?
  22. The head matches the top pretty well ;-)But on a serious note I am sure the vast majority of Demonlanders and Demonologists etc wish Matty well should he get another chance at AFL. Never stopped trying, just didn't quite make it.
  23. Many thanks to all involved - very much appreciated (though I still can't get the BOLD ITALIC etc on my Macbook)
