  1. I was thinking a bit from Geelong's point if view really. (Not that I care a lot really.)
  2. ??? more fodder for Caro ???
  3. It is interesting that Eddie's knifing of Malthouse and his anointing his love child seems to be causing a few rifts. Long may it continue.
  4. I haven't seen him play, but some have likened him to Rivers, which interests me: why would Geelong get rid of a "young Rivers" essentially for an old one? And vice versa for us?
  5. Initial post update would be great - thanks for your efforts.
  6. To answer your first question, anyone who reads this is a MFC tragic, therefore is by necessity a masochist :-)) Just put it all behind you and look forward to a massive improvement in 2013, now that Neeld, Missen and Craig have had a year to stamp their authority, purge the list and bring in people of character with strong bodies and minds.
  7. The problem is that many here will see the second glass as half empty, not half full.
  8. I guess to me that just reinforces the limitations of relying too much on the physical measurements. Long was a whippet - were he any heavier the [censored] would have broken Troy Simmonds' neck - whilst Cyril is much more stocky. Yet same height and weight. IMO Barry looks far more the whippet than a Cyril clone.
  9. Except Libba and Fev said they (CFC) did, and young Einstein McLean said we didn't !!Wallace said RFC did. We led at the final siren. And we, as far as I know, are the only team to have won, so failed, that vital fifth game, and furthermore did it twice!! Am I paranoid, or are we actually being treated differently??
  10. Gawd...I forgot about him He made Dom Barry look like a bloody gorilla
  11. A nice perspective on what we have gained and lost. And I hadn't though of the Chri$$$$ Judd / Chris Dawes aspects that you mentioned. If even half of the gains turn out to be good, very good or even better players, the lying, avaricious little [censored] has done us a great service.
  12. Looking at some of the responses here, I suspect that they may have missed what I have assumed: that the post was actually tongue in cheek. Still, until it is outlawed specifically, it may be fun to try for the first time, just to see what it is like. :-)
  13. And it just might limit Cloke's ability to kick bags of goals against us. Thats a bit harsh - Rivers should never have been left one on one with him. Coaching error.
  14. Agree totally - but the AFL / Dumbitriou seem intent on turning our fabulous game into another Americanized pop show......without asking those who pay at the gate to be there. And to your list of annoyances, I would throw in those useless meaningless interviews with fans whose opinions are generally of even lower quality than the mean on this and other club fan sites.
  15. Very interesting stats, and I am sure that I am not the only one who has missed this. IF he can keep his head, he certainly provided versatility in defence who can match up on a small or a medium, and provide good rebound options. It is up to Lynden if he becomes a regular and valuable member of our team. Good midfield support has several positives: fewer total and fewer non-pressured incursions by the enemy, and perhaps even more important more options for escape. For too long we put up with what appeared to be a lazy (but maybe just inept, unfit and poorly drilled) midfield, and forwards for that matter, leaving the poor over pressured defenders without any way out, making them look stupid. It looks as if this will be no longer tolerated. Bring it on.
  16. 5 of the 13 listed left standing. Frawley and Jones are the standouts, and ......... again ....... "Col has the potential" to be anything. Maybe this is his year :-((((
  17. Roll over and be screwed, on what charge?? We merely changed our priorities from winning at all costs (which we never seemed to do very well anyway around that time) to development of youth and of team placements, with a view to the future. It would seem incredibly stupid to do otherwise. But please punish us gently for doing nothing out of the norm. THAT is something that we should never consider. PS - MODS: I have rasied this before. We have a "like this" button but we really need a "really don't like this" button too!
  18. Lets hope it is, at least in part, Flash lighting up again
  19. I has put this in the Jimmy thread, but it fits better here. Having development and experimentation as a priority over winning games is NOT the same as deliberately losing games. Deliberately losing games (as in CFC and Kruzer Cup) was and would be IMO seriously bringing the game into disrepute: there is nothing to say that we did this, in fact we won that particular game and lost by doing so. Winning was just not the number 1 aim of meaningless games late in those seasons.
  20. It is obscene because he specifically and categorically denied in his book (that was in essence a dying deposition) that the team were never ever asked to not win games. He is dead, and cannot be cross examined. So those who implicate him are basically calling him, unable to defend himself, a liar. That is the obscenity here.
  21. 14 possessions a game average wouldn't be bad if the majority were as the sub.
  22. Assuming that they were all selected any one week and were all on the ground at once, that amounts to HALF being leaders: should we name the other half as the FOLLOWERS GROUP?
