Thanks guys for all your hard work in getting these fabulous podcasts together. I just love them after a win, of course; less so after a loss. However I am really looking forward to this one - why does Freo seem to have our number, even previously when we have been playing well? Is it just their pace, run and link that mesmerises our midfield, and completely destroys our usually solid team defence. They seemed to just run it out with someone going past then a forward running well deep of our zone, over and over again. Is their coach some sort of wizard who takes our game plan apart, on a regular basis? Or, perhaps we are just not as good as we have beleived? The past fortnight we did seem to be getting it together and I was starting to subscribe to the loading, training, planning for the July, August, September surge, but it now looks more and more despite my usual optimism that the September part will be irrelevant. When and if September becomes a mathematical impossibility, will we change our plans and drop those who aren't by then committed to 2025 and beyond, and bring in even more young blood? Kynan Brown had an unbelievable number of tackles at VFL and needs time on ground at AFL level. All the youngsters we blooded this year have been more than serviceable. Windsor of course the standout, Howes looks as if he will make it, Kolt was IMO unlucky to be subbed out and has added just so much energy to the forward line, AMW just fits right in. Sestan? Verrall? Not sure about McAdam and Fullarton though. Here endeth my ramble.

He almost certainly will have to do some ruck duties this year. IF TMc stays, then Harrison may remain a swing man. So much depends on how Turner and Jefferson develop as tall forwards as well. But medium to long term he is likely to become our key defender.

Wal - the pose is more like what I would expect from Hemingway - I must say I haven't noticed any of his postings recently. Tholstrup, with his aggression and energy looks pretty safe for at least a few games. He, with Melk, has invigorated the HF area. Dingo - just what do they get right 99% of the time is the big question? Sunrise and sunset times usually pretty close. But up until the last week they have called a lot of rain that failed to deliver. Wind they tend to get close. Temperatures usually within 5 or so.

Wasn't it the pre preseason learning running with his grandad at Geraldton that he attributes to his sudden development? He certainly became an immediate lock in selection - great pick up, and great self dedication to his craft. I would an agree a high quality half back who can think his way through and deliver with precision is absolutely essential. Unless AMV (smaller) or Blake Howes cements that spot, or Bowey returns to his best, I would leave him to become a backline leader especially as May and Lever inevitably slow down and move on over the next half decade. I realise he will not replace them as positional players, but he oozes leadership.

Depends on how one actually defines ego. I am sure every successful AFL player has enormous self belief and thinks that they are the or among the best in their rôle. In some it transfers to arrogance which does not appear to be the case in Max. Self esteem vs self importance.

I presume he is playing a role - binman, do you have access to his pressure ratings? Is that what he is doing? Not every player is going to need 30 disposals and a few goals.
