Maybe you are right, but I have lasting memories of my mixture of emotions in that minute or so - firstly anger at an umpire being so out of touch with "the feel of the game" that he could consider that anyone would be thinking what I think you are thinking, then the unbridled joy at the OOB on the full and the 50 m penalty, Jake's calmness and Max's brilliant mark and goal. Almost, just almost, more satisfying was the finger pointing between the Cat defenders who allowed Max to slip away. The overwhelming joy of the moment is still with me.

Still it seems that some count disposals and judge players by that alone. Rôles are as important as raw numbers. Gus has been gap filling in defence and does it well. I believe most would agree that the VR was absurdly rushed in this case. Probably the fastest one in history because whoever the anonymous adjudicator wanted to get home or down for a drink. Haven’t seen Jefferson much, but if JVR’s development is an example I would think he would be most unlikely to play this season. JVR was held back ever when we were in desperate plight. Maybe, given the state of the game, it was a learning opportunity?

I agree 100%. The back of the padding is totally irrelevant. We, and Frittata, were robbed of a goal. The most relaxed and enjoyable TV commentary that I can remember. None of this blokey “wodya think BT, Richo etc” nonsense.

Another very sound game today - he certainly has a look of confidence and even though he only had 3 kicks and 6 hand passes he was always involved and a threat when the ball was in the vicinity.

Petty today was imo the best back up ruck man … I would as others have said persist with him forward / ruck for another couple of weeks (always dependent on opposition match ups of course) though Lever could have benefited with him being alongside at Allen seemed to have the better of Jake.

So of course nothing will happen. The one clip they did show had it very clearly across what I could see as the goal line.
