  1. Spot on. We need the extra tall and Tomlinson, while not ideal understands the role and the surrounding team members. Not perfect but no option now IMO to shore up defence. I'm expecting another good decision-making performance by Salem this week which should help.

Fair point and we'll know in a few weeks. My Saints friends are now off their high and see it your way.
  3. You judge the issue noting the first line without any inside information I assume. Your statement can't hold either. None of us know if it isn't "..essentially there..." do we. A court can choose to believe one side over another in a ' he said, she said'. The Inquiry heard the complainants, but not the Hawks heirachy at the time, and Gil has decided to close it down using common weezel words. Of course there's now nothing to see. Cyril voted with his feet and walked away. Why on earth would he trust the court system or the social commentary he and his partner would endure. Clarko and Fagan have the benefit of being on the 'inside' and will move on. Robbo interestingly last night did not accept the issue is dealt with. He gets it I suspect. Gil's never recovered from thr Adam Goodes episode IMO in this space.

Not with Ross Lyon at the helm they aren't, and with Max King a true forward in form.

Maybe, but only if Petty is back to defence and another solution for forwards found. That's Goody's job, not emasculating a premiership defence because Harry showed a bit forward for 5 minutes in the Lions final last year. The seasons second half is a big test for coaching staff. If Petty comes back and lines up at CHF I'm booking my September hols.
  6. Really. A game is 120 Minutes and Butters damage in the first 3 quarters meant he could put the cue away a bit. He prevented us prospering further as did his mate Rozee. Who drove the Power to grab a sizeable lead in the second 1/4. ? It IS a simple game as Alan Jeans remarked. I guess he knew what he was talking about? King's quote, and not original, emanated from NBA coach Brett Brown's theory. Probably where Kingy pinched it from.
  7. Yes they do bear some, but strategic issues not so much
  8. Just a kid. Needs a break. His Manager seems to have the foot of the peddle life-lessons wise I suspect
  9. He's a premiership Demon for life. What he ends up being at Freo is of no interest. Maybe a cashed up Perth property owner who played a bit for Freo. Who knows? Will never be booed by me.
  10. Not a huge David King fan but I do like his saying "... don't get beaten by what you know..." as we did to the shame of Yze and coaches by Powres Butters and Rozee last week. Touch of arrogance - our mids up against your mids. very unsophisticated IMO. Hoping for better this week from Goody and crew.

Goodwin said he'd back our midfield against butters and rozee. He should know better and next hopefully he has a fix. Poor coaching effort all round last week

Well said rj. Ports pattern is target max because it worked before in 2019 and other times. . Hinkleys predictable . Where's rod Grinter when we need him
  13. True LT, and we'll struggle and probably be 8th to 6th at finals time. But I'm confused right now on just what happens this season. Its May, we still have problems yet 7 and 3 with great %. With a soft darw to complete the season. Lost to a gun team in shocking conditions by 4 points on Friday, playing 13 minutes of good footy, where our trump cards of Gawn/Grundy were naturally ineffective. The pattern is, assuming Clarry is Ok, that we have a good game next week and the condundrum continues. We lose and we'e clearly not Top 4 material.

I was channeling the great 'Chief' in get Smart. We're not just favourites they have us as almost certainties.

I find that hard to believe
  16. I am always interested in oppo fans' opinions on their own coach. I have seen Hinkley as a master spruiker and now down on the boundary (copying Goody as many do now) I don't see a coach but an interetsed fan/spectator. (Goody seems to be in comms with the box of Yze and team constantly as well as directing players. Voss is another fanboy also. So the above comments were interesting on Kenny and maybe Power aren't so scary, given Kingy last night saw Dees as one of if not the best coached side in the AFL.
  17. A good summary. But I'm wondering where Tanya Hosch, GM of Inclusion and Social Policy at the AFL is involved in all of this. Surely her role, and experienece and insight, should have assisted in delivering a best practice approach. I just wonder how that process has been hijacked within the AFL? In other words, what's the point of her position when the AFL have failed their biggest test since Goodes disgrace. I hope she is handling this situation OK
  18. Agreee but at the time I think no free was paid. Not certain though

Absolutely. And after this Round likely Top 8 wont also change now just the final positions. Newbies from 2022 will be port crows and saints. All deserving. Bombers and Blues can whistle Dixie for rest of the season.
  20. Some on here amusingly call Optus Stadium in Perth 'Boo Stadium' when we or anyone else plays the Eagles there. Well today in bright Autumn sunshine, we shall be turning the 'G' into the east coast 'Boo Stadium', or should I say 'ROOOO' Stadium. I know I will be. Hang on, is yelling Roo allowed if it sounds like Boo.? Didn't stop Tiger fans last night.
  21. I agree with all of the above. I just fear we will fall back a few spots without a stellar defence which we dont quite now have and is the key to a flag this year. I hope FD get the answer soon
  22. Great analogy. Ok to try it but not if it lessens the defence quality

Exactly, with JVR's inside bicep grazing the side of his head. Ballard then goes down clutching the back of his head which suffered no contact.

His parting comment was the statement was "...embarrassing..." for Powell.
  25. Petty WAS a member of a Premiership defence, the line from which you win flags. I understand why the MC have played him forward, but that's over now. Flriting with danger to continue what is really just an experiment based on a few minutes in hte dying stages of the Lions final last year.
