NON-MFC: Round 23, 2022
I actually thought last 5 min the Saints kept trying, could have had another goal, Hannebery actually playing makes a difference through the middle, expensive cameo though. If they had Ryder would be game on.

Game plans, tactics and all that jazz
I really like this thread, it's aqua profunda for some and they stay away. Anyway, for me the biggest difference between 21 and 22 has been injury, I am beyond impressed that we arrive at finals with a fit list, when we have clearly had our share of struggles this year. In a game of tiny margins between the top 8 teams. I think this has accounted for a drop in pressure and intercepts and other metrics that we blew up last season. It must be said we had one of the most exceptional runs with injury gods in 21, expecting that 2 seasons in a row is more than a tad King Canute. What blew me away was forward 50 connection (how much did you love May celebrating their success in his post match IV), and as much as I have looked for a tactic (and I might have missed it) I really can only say that I think it is belief. I think we are an extremely unified team. We have found our dare where we have been staid. We will be close but triumphant against Sydney, murder Collingwood and beat Geelong senseless in the GF. Our pressure is not a gimmick, it requires a fit list to get to the contest and effect it... we are now fit. Our skills require trust, there is no more unified team. Our game plan requires preparation, does anyone think our coaches have not been working towards this moment with utter clarity? I do hope May starts kicking right in finals... Lastly, think about our losses, Geelong, Collingwood etc, they celebrated hard, no-one has taken beating us for granted. I expect to see high pressure, and large scores from turnover. Nothing about our game has gone out of style it just takes an enormous amount of work and fitness.

CHANGES: QF vs Sydney
No change, Bowey and Rivers were a great rebounding option and connected really well. Salem has been getting better since a number of issues, and he applies a lot of pressure, but it was Bowey’s best game of the year he was so clean. Damn hard choice as I love Salem. I also had Tmac coming in for BBB (if fit) but BBB also played his best game of the year. Melks has done everything asked. ANB is a defensive forward and his work is immense. Spargo has the neatest F50 entries. I still think Harmes might be dropped depending on matchups. Also - Tmac could make a useful sub with his utility abilities.

What They Are Saying at Springfield
I thought about that, I was here for it, and while the forum could be feral, i don’t remember the opinion as being universal, just very vocal and at times uncouth. Is funny i logged on yesterday expecting near 100% happiness for the 1st time of all posters (barring the GF), we got about 98% positive. I agree btw on next captain, I’d put money on Hugh getting the gig, consistent with effort and tackles etc. Also he’s about the lone candidate. Very happy with our stocks, I think any of Lever, Brayshaw, Petracca, Viney could do the gig tomorrow, Long term Rivers, Petty, maybe Sparrow.

Oliver - Charlie winning Petracca - looking Deadly Brayshaw - Great coaching to switch the Neale tag Pickett - Deadly and beautiful bumps Rivers - Kill the opposition when he collects the turnover. Hon Mentions: (sneaky hint everyone) Hibbo so good on Charlie Bowey Excellent game back, slotted in seamlessly in Salem’s role Viney Warrior May Found his game day headspace Hunt , I thought he was done, awesome late season rejuvenation Fritsch lethal ANB Courage and Heart Jackson Getting better Gawn Captain Melks looks 26 Spargo clever Sparrow is like Bam Bam from the Flintstones Harmes played his role, looked smooth and cal with ball Petty best 3rd defender in the league.

What They Are Saying at Springfield
Fair play to Bears supporters - Read the Brissy board, 19-1 in favour of binning Zorko as Captain and pensioning him off next year, never seen such a negative sentiment by supporters to their own captain. Also just want to say Fagan is a super classy bloke, calling him an assistant does no one any credit, that team was a basket case and he turned it around in record time. He is humble and respectful.

GAMEDAY: Rd 23 vs Brisbane
Brisbane brought a knife to a gun fight, and I’m talking the blade on a a pair of fingernail clippers to a 155mm Howitzer.

Clarko to Norf
Did you see what Donald McDonald had to say about his 5 games on the Front Bar (18/8) re tanking... 'there was a fair bit of tanking around then'...

TEAMS: Rd 23 vs Brisbane
Adonski=DrD, can you all pretty please stop quoting him it means I still see his merde. Personally I think Harmes back for Neale, might be a mistake, Fagan will have a plan. Still think this will be easiest of next 4 games as defence > attack, Hipwood has scars and it is not like we caught them on a bad day, they have given their best shot 3 times and come up short.

Clarko to Norf
You nailed it, he’s even orange as well.

We're Finishing OUT of the Top Four
Wanna bet? More sure of beating Brisbane than any other 8 team, only crew that make our offence look good, and our pressure is higher for longer. Easiest game of the next 4.

POSTMATCH: Rd 22 vs Carlton
Petty is AA, he is just brilliant. Brayshaw huge all night. Please I cannot watch us kick it to Brown anymore, thank you, like you, but not the KPF we need. Thanks Melks love your work. Cannot understand how we got picked apart in the contest, without our defence we would have been blown up. Salem looking better each week.

GAMEDAY: Rd 22 vs Carlton
It's the hope that kills you, but I have no hope when they kick it to Brown. How has this Carlton midfield matched ours, stoppage play won by them, as I type Melksham the basta7d gives me hope again...

Patrick Cripps FREE to play
Am pretty sure suspension only counts for H+A, after some shenanigans in finals 20 years ago.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
After the ‘23 premiership.

As the resident UN Official, the computer says ‘No’. For Crimes against Humanity I sentence him to 12 months of Protection Cluster meetings in a protracted emergency

Farewell Brodie Grundy
For sure he knows the words to ‘This Is Me’, I actually think he’d get along with the list. We are not building, we are hot now, the next four years is our sweet spot. We are a contest based side with Oliver, Tracy, Viney, Sparrow who deserve a matching ruck; and I think Grundy would be great for the defensive structures as well. He is however not a KPF and that is what we are all balding about.
