  1. What's the need for a match against dockers? talls. Pedeson, Gawn fitz Strength. Reilly Run. Bail Potential. Toumpas
  2. Grimes for Jetta Fitzpatrick for Kent . ........When Clark or sandilands go forward. Give the job to fitz. Howe can go forward or back to cover kent loss as game unfolds. Fitz and Dawes can back up jamar
  3. There are many skills in football. Each player has a set of skills and weaknesses. Exercising these with an oval ball extreme pressure and particularly on a wet field is harder than the comfort of your lounge room couch. Plenty of mistakes last night particularly in the first half but we kept recovering enough for a comfortable win. Time to celebrate the sublime skills a Salem, the excitement of hogans markings, brayshaws maturity, JKH elusive agility, VDBs brutality and skill (wait till he has a summer of training) the untiring dominance of TMcD. All make mistakes but the upside is now far outweighing the down

  5. One thing you can be certain about is the coaching team won.t have noticed his kicking for goal and couldn't care less.....NOT
  6. I think you are scrambling for a story. An article in today's paper says scoring is as low as it's been for some time.
  7. To many demon landers don't have a real life. The negativity and criticism reflects their own person struggles. These forums are healthy when positive, a little light heart, bring a bit of information that gives us all a little more hope. A nice break in a busy day. Then get back into the real world.
  8. A friend commented to me several times before the game he was worried about our ability to finish well in this game following a flight to Perth and back last week for our first game of year and one played in 30 plus degree. Our match fitness is hardly back to normal match conditioning. We had a bad let down after our NT game last year if my memory is correct. We are far from travel, temperature, match fit yet. There was so much good in this game there is no need to become alarmists yet
  9. Roos appears to be sticking to team getting close to the final 22. However pedersen for Dawes for round one, Kent if fit and maybe Brayshaw .
  10. Enjoy the last few days before a good dose of reality once again spoils our summer fun
  11. Tony Anderson had courage in bucket loads. Saw him recently at a game of the dees at the G as part of the coterie group. The poor guy struggled up the stairs for half time refreshment. So many players pay the price for their courage. A true demon champion
  12. I also remember my father making reference to dasher Williams high jump capacity. Not sure what he achieved but certainly a champion high jumper. Of course the football record regularly featured a spectacular mark of his lying horizontal over the pack. Speed, leap, raking drop kicks an excitement machine
  13. Why would you elevate anyone until they were close to playing. Let the summer run it's course
  14. Garland out. Frawley back (Frawley dunne McD) back talls. Gawn in on forward line.
  15. I'm interested in this rumour.Hawks obviously rate Bruce
  16. The only sooks I've seen or heard in this club or those on Demonland. Your own rant is emotional unintelligent rubbish. I would suggest you are the one who needs a break.
  17. Re Watts, rotate him with Howe out of forward pocket. The regular change will test the west coast match up on the differing heights

  19. I recall the game fondly. I was taken by a hawk friend into the members stand at the city end, Full of skwarking hawkers and bugler. It was a wet and muddy day. It began with the news that tassie Johnson wasn't playing which sent them delirious because he had john pecks measure. Bernie massie was always badly out pointed by him. They lead all day until that fluke goal by Hassa over his shoulder from the boundary line. It must have been seconds left on the clock. Of course there was no way I could cheer if I wanted to get out alive as I had successfully concealed my allegiance all day.i have a vague memory it was last game of year and meant we got in the four, but that may be wrong.
  20. Actually I thought he held the world pro 400 record, but that's hearsay from my dad in the 50's
  21. In the good old days when we could watch the reserves, Robbie Dowsing played for a few seasons as rover before following Norm Smith to South. Don't know if too many would have accomplished this but did anyone remember his 13 goals for the reserves against the hawks at glenferrie oval. We could be forgiven for thinking we we had found the next Bobbie Skilton
  22. Neil froggie Compton deserves a comment. He actually began his career in a roving role, (also played a few games of cricket for Vic) but ultimately too slow. Found his real role in the back pocket and thankfully in that famous grand final he still had some of those roving skills on hand. His one famous rovers kick has indelibly place him in demon folklore.
