  1. Not sure it is all about what you get RR. There are big savings to be made in some of the salaries Take Green and Davey probably on 500 each. A reasonable second round pick plus we pay the 200 of the salary for each. Saving of 600 000 to pay our improving young guys. might be a reasonable deal. Having said that imagine if we tried to [censored] off the captain and vice captain.
  2. Size is not everything, the last thing we need is for someone to run through him. He is justing getting over a serious injury. Give him time at Casey. We need him in 2013 and beyond Now billy that will guarantee he is picked!
  3. Excellent summation RR That is the way I read it. In his time however I did like him. He was not afraid to go and get the ball and I can still remember his deliver into our forward line. I hope he does not play friday night. I would struggle watching him get back into form against us. X MFC players have had a habit of doing that over the years.
  4. Well at the risk of boring anyone under 50 I had forgotten Tony Sullivan. He was one of our better players from that era. Thanks WYL I had forgotten some of the better players of that ordinary period
  5. Good point I will get off.
  6. I have the same fear then the bombers the next week. Imagine 2 beltings in two weeks we would never get another friday game this decade!
  7. Did not mean FA applying to TS. I was trying to convey that players not signing until the end the season / contract will become more common than in the past. Only raised Scully to show how bad it would look if AFL went the way of Rugby League.
  8. unfortunately my gut feel tells me that there will only be one change for the Blues match. As much as I would like to see Davey at Casey I doubt it will happen. The coaching staff need wins now will not be the time to give inexperienced players a run. That being the case then who will replace Tapscott? It is probably Morton. After I looked at the Casey players from two weeks ago he is the player with the most skill/ experience at present. The selection committee will probably make 4 changes and I will look silly again.
  9. And quite often the only player we would get in the Vic side. Also played for SA after he left the dees.
  10. Are there 40 000 carlton supporters going, I thought it was our home game!
  11. Spot on Heart is no substitute for skill
  12. And to top it off he drove taxi's at the time How things have changed. I know Gary and as well as a great player he is a really nice guy.
  13. Agree RR and why risk him in a game they believe they will win without much trouble. They have bigger fish to fry. I still have a feeling Judd will be rested for the same reason.
  14. I agree it is part of the new landscape. Rather have it that way than what happens in RL Then Scully would announce he is off next year but play out the rest of 2011 with the MFC. How bad would that feel. get used to players waiting till the death knock that is the future.
  15. I doubt we have enough of anything to cover Carlton Having said that give Howe a go, he has shown a bit and has some experience playing against men. I agree we would be throwing Gawn to the wolves for no good reason. At best it might reduce the margin slightly and at worst the kid could get beat up and or end up injured. There is plenty of time for Gawn
  16. That was the whole idea
  17. Agree he was one of the few things we had to cheer about for most of his playing years. I remember going to a lot matches just to see him. The problem for those who did not see him was for most of that period there was only 2 matches telecast as we were crap ( yes again ) the Dees did not feature often and there is not much footage of him. I would say he is the best player I have seen play in the red and blue in the last 40 years. If he had played for Carlton during that period he would been clasified a lot higher by the general football public. How good he would have been in a good side we will never know. Thanks for the memories RF
  18. spot on you are correct I should read well before moving my fingers. I agree.
  19. No that was Moses. But you should see him fly for a mark.
  20. Sorry old55 but I do not think he is an elite kick. Trengove is a much better kick. And this year his kicking has been found wanting!
  21. Why is it odds on? Carlton know exactly how to take him out of the game. And IMO they will win easy if he is in or not.
  22. Sorry I meant 2011, you are correct he had some great games last year.
  23. Yes and he is one of the reasons we are not doing well this year. Last year is now history, just another year the MFC finished in the wrong half of the ladder. How long do you keep playing him because he used to be great?
  24. Agree, Not sure why we go on and on about Scully signing. We put our best offer forward and if that is not good enough to keep him so be it. He is after all one player. JC would not improve us at present Good I swore I was not going onto Scully threads again.
