It started last year, in the game against carlton they tagged him out. I think it was evident last year and now everyone knows it. Not sure how he gets around the problem but if he does not learn how to defeat a tag we may have seen the best of him. His form this year is a large part of our problem. he is one of our senior players ( vice captain )that should be leading the team, showing the juniors. But what we have is a guy taken out of games by taggers and he is now looking petulant and giving little. In fact he has cost dearly in important parts of games. His kicking used to be superb but it has gone missing in most of the games this year. I just think he needs a game or two at Casey to get some perspective back.

You are right Striker475 From memory he has had one reasonable game the rest have been poor, With Saturday terrible. Teams now know he is easily tagged out of the contest and it does not even take a great tagger.

Sorry to be so negative Jaded but you have to have the skill level to win. No amount of desire will cover a big difference in the relative skill level in the two teams. With our current injury level we are not in the same league as Carlton. Unfortunately A hiding coming up I think

DemonWA it is the older players like Davey that are letting us down. The young guys are having a go. Trade Davey while he still has some currency, pay half his salary he may look good to someone. We got Grimes ( if only he could stay on the park )for Trapper Don't think we could fool brisbane again but a top 40 pick might be ok.

The week before he was almost as bad SD, he has a lot more poor games than good ones so far this year.

Another skinny kid who will take three years to be big enough. Might be JC who knows, JD is killing them now!

But thats the problem most of the older guys are giving us very little. WE need good games from the senior players while the young ones develop. Why will that change when they are one year older? We simply are not getting it from them, I cannot see them getting better

He is certainly not getting paid like a fringe player!

Dee-luded what you say may be true however i would disagree with your time line. We are a lot longer off being a finalist than 2012. When we had the guys playing who are coming back we were crap, so I am not sure they will make a lot of difference in the next few weeks. There is only one A grader among our senior ranks and it will IMO take longer than next year to produce a suitable number of A grade players. Until then we have lots of pain to endure, it does not stop at the end of 2011.

You have missed one element I won't have to watch him friday night if he plays with Casey!

That won't happen we would have to change the game plan There has been no one in the forward 50 for 2 years you are asking for a revolution. There is a better chance of me getting a game on friday night.

There is only one move for Davey this week it is off to Casey, As you say Carlton will tag him out of the game, like they have every time we have played them in recent years. I doubt Gawn will get a run he is still very young, to play him now might set him back. We are in no danger of winning so why feed the kid to the wolves. I will be surprised if there is more than one change this week. Perhaps Howe in for Tapscott.

I think you have it covered fairly well RR. When you don't have the required player talent Everything else looks poor, lack of endevour, more mistakes, bad decision making, poor kicking that results in turnovers etc. all stem from having players with talent levels lower than their opponents. You cannot replace 7 -8 players ( especially in the GWS era ) but you can replace a coach. Unless he has talents that we in the outer don't see I think he is for the high jump. Unless a mircale happens there will need to be a sacrificial lamb by year end. That will be DB wether he deserves it or not.

how many times have I heard that over the last 40+ years. I agree we have what looks like a good group of kids but who is going to help them develop over the next 2 -3 years surely not the likes of Davey. You need a blend of senior and young players At present we have a couple of good seniors, 3 - 4 mid range players and a bunch of kids most of whom have less than 20 games to their credit. I have seriously over estimated the quality of our senior players most of them are average. We do not have one game breaker amonst them. We are going to struggle for at least the next couple of years. PS I have supportered this club for 51 years, i think I have a reasonable ticker.
