Hope you believe when I say I am not having a go at you. But this is what is wrong at the MFC, "Doing his best to be who he is meant to be" Does not cut it. We accept medicority too often at Melbourne. Green was all Australian last year, it may be coincidence but since he got the job his form has been poor. If he was not the captain he would have been at Casey weeks ago. He seems a nice guy but that is not enough. He is a poor captain in poor form in a side that will most likely finish in the bottom four. Those are the facts. One more year is not an option. Out for someone who (a) deserves their spot in the team and ( b )someone who can inspire the team. If he is lucky his form will improve in 2012 and he will get a game. Right now he does not deserve one.

If only Green, Dunn, Bate and Davey had been as bad as him this year!

I did with a nice little Pinot Gris. I few weeks back I suggested a trade might be in order for AD But unfortunately there would be no takers at present. Have we seen the last of him? I think he has a contract for next year but I am not sure where you play him nowadays. Perhaps the summer lay off may produce a better result in 2012. I think miracles are all that is left now.

I don't think I will make it to next sunday the prospect of going down to the GC is too horrible to contemplate. But sunday is 6 days away!

Does not alter the fact Redleg he kicked 3 goals. That is 2 more than Green Watts and Petterd and 3 more than Davey If he is a hack where does that leave the above? PS I will excuse Watts it was a poor game after a fairly good year.

Everyone seems to be ignoring it from yesterday but in a game lost by 7 points A certain Mr. Miller with 3 goals seems to have rubbed our noses in it!

Last night I returned home a very sad fan. Another year has come to end again with a whimper. Like so many previous years I started with enthusiasm and expected a reasonable improving performance on the previous year. After some improved performances and a good draw I thought 2011 may get us very close to eighth spot. But alas the all too often "Melbourne season" unfolded. Poor results and numerous beltings followed by the coach being sacked and then problems in the administration. Once again the season ends with my club being the butt of jokes about "no bruise " football and down hill skiers etc. The end of this misery looks no closer than the majority of the last 47 years. I ask myself why do I go on? I have no idea what the answer is. I am too old to end my affair with the MFC but I am getting weaker. Normally there is always next year but right now I am struggling with this concept. What if this is my lot? What if this is the best it gets at the MFC? God I hope not but may be it is? Perhaps the "Storm" is the solution. They seem to be every thing that the MFC is not!

Yes he had a better game yesterday GK. But he has had good games in the past. Then follows 5 very ordinary games. And lets remember we were only playing Richmond. The jury is still out for me. I will want to see a lot more of yesterday before I get to worked up.

From my view point we lost yesterday because of a couple of senior players who have not been up to it all year ( Green and Davey ) And a couple of kids who ran out of steam in the last quarter. This year we need to recruit at least one hard experinced forward IMO. Use our first round pick it will be a reasonably low one. Easier said than done I know, please no more skinny 17 year olds who will not be ready till 2015.

One of the main reasons I went yesterday was to watch Sam. He was picked with an early pick so I have always assumed he could play at junior level and that would hopefully translate into a good senior player. However he has had to endure one of the worst injuries going before he even made it into his first year at the MFC. Then in his come back year had another long injury. Finally he started playing regularly at Casey, I have seen him a few times in the flesh and a few on TV. When I have seen him I thought he was " a good Battler" but nothing special. Now after a couple of senior games I believe he has shown more than I thought was there at Casey. Yesterday he played Ok I thought but as others have said I thought he was very tired in the last quarter. He does IMO have a very accurate kick, however he made a couple bad errors trying to thread the needle yesterday. I may be mistaken but they were directed at TS in very heavy traffic. IMO the kid has shown enough to give him another couple of years on the list. However he needs to get a lot fitter, his current fitnass level is not good enough for AFL level. When the game was up for grabs yesterday he was noticably tired.

AJ the problem with CS has been that he does exactly what happened yesterday put in a really good game then has a couple of very ordinary games. I do not intend " to have a good look at myself" I have questioned CS in the past hopefully he will continue yesterdays form and I will not have to worry in the future about him. One of the problems at the MFC is IMO that we do not question enough! It was not CS's fault yesterday but in case it has escaped you we got beaten yesterday by Richmond and I will continue to question things!

The contra view is that they learn what winning is about and take that desire to the AFL side. Perhaps we should play Green, Davey, and Sylvia there for the first 4 games of 2012! I am also a little over the Geelong / Collingwood comparison. The reason for their success is fairly simple from where I sit. They just have a lot of very good players.

You really do have your heart on your sleeve Striker. Don't get the tamper proof bolts. These lovely thieves almost wrecked the front of my mates car getting his plates off. Would have been much cheaper to let them take them off easily

Surely you are not suggesting we sit on our hands for another year! Every time I hear Viney he keeps saying he does not want the job. And how would it look for us to playing a waiting game for MM He is either available for 2012 or we get someone to do a proper job for the next 3 -5 years.

The problem is GoaG guys like Robbief and myself have been doing just what you suggest for 47 years the majority of which have turned out like 2011. Always promise but bugger all else. One of the major problems with the MFC is just what you are suggesting trustng the "club recruiters" We do not question enough IMO Can you give me a time frame on the trust element please? I do take exception to your comment that suggests anyone with a differing opinion to yourself is obviously inferior. And tone suggests we who differ should be looked down upon as some sort of inferior supporter. Well guess what I will not stop questioning MFC decisions because you think I am wrong. If you read my comments I have never said Cook is a bum or will not make it. However I do question why we seem to always take a very long view with the vast majority of our selections. If we do not start winning a reasonable number of games against teams of similar abilty to us e.g. North and the Dogs etc we will not be around to see the likes of Cook becomes stars. You can only live on promise for so long. That is my opinion now if you disagree fine I can live with your opinion.

If potential was the end story then The MFC should win the flag next year! I will say it again "I am not saying Cook is a bum" Time will tell who is the best.
