A point and draw would have been like a win given our ladder position.

I thought we got the better of the umpiring early but I had a niggling feeling it will go against us late in the game if scores are close and become victims of home crowd decisions later in the game. The same happened in 2019 when we got some shocking decisions against us in the last quarter against WC in Perth. This year it’s become a big problem for away teams in close finishes and vocal crowds. The umpires need some form of re-education.

From a strategic POV, we could have gone for the rushed point at the end. There were 3 ball ups. A draw would have kept us on top and we are likely never to match the Bulldogs on percentage anyway. A draw on when one game ahead on top is like a win.

Spare parts Mitch Brown actually offers more as he leads, can clunk marks and kick goals from distance which Weid can’t.

ATM the bulldogs are seriously dismantling a crappy side. The problem with captain challenges is that all will likely be burned up early in the game unless an unlimited amount are given. There are far too many iffy moments at contests around the goals.

My computer geek around 2010 wanted me to invest $500 into a new fangled thing called Bitcoin like he was doing. They were selling for around 3 cents each then. I knocked back the offer because I was grinding out money playing poker which in the long run worked out to about $5 an hour. I believe it’s not incompetence but maybe too much work for one person alone to tackle. Like he has to review in detail 9 games a weekend in minute detail and make decisions before Tuesday. Serious high profile incidents are noted quickly and bought to his attention. Others like the Langdon dumping appear on social media maybe a couple days after the incident. He needs some help.

Tmac only got fined because Gerard Healy made a big stink about Mummy dropping the knee’s into a prostrate Zac Merret last week on ON THE COUCH. Of course Mummy got away with it and it was far worse than what Tmac did. Shamed Christian on TV to take action.

That was quite a weak knee. Barely touched him and just a knee push with little force.

And Mummy got away with it last week.

I was keeping a close eye on Weid. Marked OK and worked hard but his goal kicking still is unacceptable for a key forward. Only a few opportunities but on those few he couldn’t make the distance once and missed a relatively easy shot for goal. He can’t expect to only kick goals from 30 metres out in front or a Joe the goose. Lacks the goal smarts of BBB or Tmac. Last couple of seasons he’s also missed too many pressure shots that needed to be nailed.

Damn it, I forgot Oliver with 109 games. That’s seven home grown players including 3 A graders. No more the club of callow youth, tired old warriors and journeymen.
