I wish we had Mitch Brown as sub to replace you know who.

Actually there were 3 game results turned by atrocious umpiring decisions this round for a total of 6 so far for the season. Adelaide/Saints - Dubious free kick to Thilthorpe at the death. North /GWS - Umpire failed to pay blatant incorrect disposal by North in front of GWS goal in the dying minutes. It has been a pattern with Riewoldt this season. In most games starts red hot then disappears.

Will be a Geelong style home advantage. Almost guaranteed finals every season with a half decent list and coach and wonโt have to play home finals at MCG like Geelong has too sometimes.

Technicality it did look like a weak arm chop in slow motion but I donโt recall ever seeing a free paid for an arm chop applied after a player misses the first bite of the ball. Usually only paid when the arm chop spoils the first bite. In the circumstances it was a very contentious decision.

Yesterdays Crows/Saints game is the fourth game result corrupted by poor late umpires decision making. That free paid to Thilthorpe in the goal square is unbelievable. There is no way that was free kick. That was the kind of spoil seen a dozens of times every game and itโs just play on.

Nathan Buckley Steps Down as Collingwood Coach
I am still puzzled why Buckley did not immediately resign. Coaching one more game appears more about him than the club. I suspect heโs banking on a spirited performance by his players to cause a huge upset so that the headlines can present him leaving with a raised middle finger to the club. Trying to gain all the attention to portray himself as a fallen hero. I hope we spoil his latest delusion of grandeur.

Maggotly possible.

2021 Injury List
It will be reasonable to expect some attrition come finals time. A fresh and fit AVB will be very valuable in pressure cooker finals.

Looks this will turn out to be another maggot flavoured game in Adelaide.

Rozee very selfish again in the third quarter. Took two very poor marginal shots for goal and missed when he had options to go to.

Rozee seriously good but selfish. Burned a teammate in better position to convolute his second goal.

Nathan Buckley Steps Down as Collingwood Coach
Buckley is a high profile consummate media performer. He will be in demand and rapidly become one of the top talking heads. I am not aware of any other interests he has outside of football. As for beyond that I could see him easily becoming president of Collingwood FC one day or even in a prime position for the AFL.

Nathan Buckley Steps Down as Collingwood Coach
I doubt Buckley would ever entertain taking another subservient role at any club. It was obvious he was always uncomfortable when he had to serve his apprenticeship under Malthouse. He was accustomed to royal treatment at the head of the queue throughout his football career. Media work will be safe for his ego.

Nathan Buckley Steps Down as Collingwood Coach
The story goes something like Buckley wanted to play for a club capable of winning premierships. He apparently told that to North who were desperately keen to get him whilst still at Brisbane. He missed out on two at North as well as the three he missed out if he stayed with Brisbane. Who knows perhaps even more.

Nathan Buckley Steps Down as Collingwood Coach
He had his shot and a little bit of luck would have made him a revered premiership coach but same applied for Ross Lyon. Largesse disappeared quickly for failure to back up on strong finals campaigns and once sugar daddy left it was game over.

Other great comebacks
Best double comeback. Last round 1987 we had to beat the Bulldogs at the Western Oval and Hawthorn to beat Geelong at the cattery to make our first finals series for 23 years. Chances were very slim. We did it after being 4 goals down in the third quarter and the Hawks obliged by beating the Cats by 3 points to kick them out of the finals series. The Hawks trailed by 3 goals at 3/4 time and were 5+ goals down at stages but kicked 8 in the last.

Danger period lies ahead ...
In the next three rounds PA vs Cats, WC vs Tigers, Cats vs Bulldogs, Lions vs Cats, PA vs Swans and WC vs Bulldogs. Big three rounds for us with winnable games and chasers doing it tough.

Danger period lies ahead ...
Bye time is always a danger period as things tend to reset for clubs. Easy for good clubs to rest on their laurels and poor clubs to try to atone for poor starts.

COVID & AFL 2021
Saints Membrey and Ross to leave hub for personal reasons. I guess no big deal for the Saints as their season is already kaput. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/saints-leaders-head-home-for-personal-reasons-20210607-p57ypf.html
