Potential Trades [Warning: Reading this thread may self-destruct]
Arrow replied to Dr evil's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yup, got to be taking the [censored] now. If you're so worried about not being able to name what's potentially going to happen, you don't give riddles so people can guess it.. Fear we've been taken on a ride here, but it's better than not being involved in the week at all. -
Jack Trengove re-injures his navicular (2014) - trade deal off
Arrow replied to Wiseblood's topic in Melbourne Demons
If they're coming to us with that deal, it's pretty average to be honest. If we're actively shopping him than you can see us getting below value but for them to offer up that to a contracted player is surprising. More surprising is Melbourne haven't made a coweee to try and get more value out of the trade. We've been saying this for 5 years WYL.. From today, from today, from today. If we do this deal, we're still stuck with 3 draft picks and are losing a player we've put 4 years work into and haven't seen a full season from since he was drafted; his best year at the club. He's got a proper midfield to work with, a coach who finally understands football & belief the club is going somewhere. I'd be disappointed if we threw him out on the heap to gain a 10 place improvement in the middle of the first round.. Like Nasher said, they came to us, so there's no big deal in the waitings as far as we know. I'd be far happier keeping him for one more year and trading him for pick 30, than trade him for a ******* 10 place upgrade. -

Picket fence certainly hasn't changed much. He was just as off the mark than as he is now. -
Brendan McCartney no longer coach of the Doggies
Arrow replied to beelzebub's topic in Melbourne Demons
Didn't think of that, good point. There's pribably not a spot for him in our beefed up ranks, but I'm really gobsmacked how the WBs have let senior players sack a coach for being too hard on them. There's no wonder they haven't won a premiership in 60 years... -

George is technically our midfield coach with an eye on strategy. Brad Allison is our head of development. With all due respect to Brad, I'd much much prefer Brendan, and I think he's very deserving. Bulldogs hands are filthy. -

Sign him up. His development of young players is genuinely close to the best in the game. Macrae, Stringer, Bontempelli, Dahlhaus, Hunter and Lin Jong who's coming on so well for those who watched the VFL grand final. Bulldogs will regret this decision for a long time. They're not just losing Brendan, they will lose Mooney, Scarlett and Joel Corey who McCartney bought over with his Geelong attitude. This is their 186, and I don't know how they'll survive. -

Just went on the SANFL website. Billy played for Glenelg against Adelaide (Rd 16) and Port Adelaide (rd 18). He was best on ground against the Crows, they lost by 2 goals and he was second best on ground against Port where they won. Glenelg only won 4 games for the year, and Port made the grand final. He's skightly built but he's clearly good at the spread, he regularly finds himself in the right position and has proven now he is adequate against AFL listed bodies. Trying hard not tool get my hopes too pumped up, but I'm really impressed with Billy -

Lieing is football's second language WYL. If they come out and say he's depressed and has huge issues, and that they'll get rid of him in a month, his value is nothing. They play the shock card, and he keeps most of his value on the trade table. I wouldn't read as much into it as you are.

Purely speculation, but leading into finals he was in great knick, I'd know I had in my supercoach team. One week out from finals he was training full flight on the Wednesday, and by Friday he's had another surgery on his back.. I'm going the early crow and saying I think he got done for the three strikes drug policy. It's rife down in Geelong, and the AFL may even involve itself and say if you want to get back playing football, you need to remove yourself from your current environment. Again, this is purely speculative, but I find the situation very intriguing.

Disagree Jab. Billy was the only All Australian midfielder from the carnival winning state. 2013: Billy Hartung (Vic Country), Dom Sheed (Western Australia), James Aish (South Australia), Toby Nankervis (Tasmania), Luke Dunstan (South Australia), Josh Kelly (Vic Metro) 2012: James Aish (SA), Oliver Wines (Vic Country), Lachie Whitfield (Vic Country), Brodie Grundy (SA), Jonathon O'Rourke (Vic Metro), Nathan Hrovat (Vic Metro) 2011: Jaeger O'Meara, Toby Greene, Will Hoskin-Elliot, Dom Tyson, Steven Coniglio, Taylor Adams Now that list, if I'm not mistaken every single one went top 15, and all of them minus O'Rourke have shown a great deal. We have committed robbery. Stretch is a jet, and finally we are a benefactor. -
People forget, it's not purely a money related thing.. It's age, player profile, achievements etc. we're losing the only All Australian player on our list.. We'll be compensated fairly, even if 17 other clubs sook about it.

Huge chance he's holding a candlelight vigil at Frawleys house demanding answers on why he lied. He told me multiple times Frawley told him there was no way he was leaving. Seriously, I think the big guy needs a break from the Dee's. They must break his heart. -

Macaffer finished 5th and won't play all year with a torn ACL. Bigger LOL -
Heard an informed rumour that he told the club's board he was committed to Adelaide but they were low balling him and until they came to the party he would actively seek other offers

It doesn't bother me toooo much, that said if we draft his son I'll be asking questions about motivation. -

Dahlhaus wouldn't be traded. He's the face of all their junior membership campaigns and the supporters love him. He won't leave -
I had heard a story that he didn't pull a Carey, but in fact did have an indiscretion that meant his wife left him for a period of time. It could explain the emotional state but I still don't see how the footy club is to blame.. I think Mitch came to Melbourne thinking money would bring him happiness, however he's decided he's not happy now and he's shirking the responsibility of his contract with the club. I get that the injuries have bought him down, but he knew how much the number 11 meant to this club, in fact Jim presented it to him if I remember.. If I was ever given that or a similar honour I could never leave that club and more importantly let the heritage of that jumper down. He's a real coward and frankly the way he's shopping himself around now saying for the last 3 days he's ready to pick his club, I'm just wanting to see the back of him now and hoping the door gets him on the way out.

I went to a post grand final function late last night and I ran into a friend who's gone into player management. I don't know if he specifically works with Dangers management group, but he gave me 100% guarantee he wasn't coming to us. We made contact, he spoke to us but we weren't the right fit for him. Take it as you will. I hope for Melbournes sake GNF is on the money, but I've had a few good bits from this bloke in the past.
-
There is ZERO chance of him leaving. I think the inference is referring to the fact Collingwood see him as a good enough player to be involved in the trade talk, but Brisbane wouldn't let him leave for anything.
-
You're probably right but God it's a sad indictment of our club that if those 5 were on our list this year, three probably wouldve got 2 year extensions and a 4th wouldve played 10 games comfortably. It does show what a poor list Paul inherited. I wouldn't mind either one of the two you suggested, I think Schroder has a lot of potential but CScott was never a fan.
-
I just heard back from my source of good gossip and he said Danger had an open conversation with the club that suggested he would be leaving next year and that if they wanted to trade him this year he'd be for it, but he wouldn't force their hand persay. Now we just have to hope, it's the red and blue that's in his sights.

I have on what I consider to be very good mail that Jack has been told he will be actively shopped for a trade. Roos thinks he needs a change of scenery and won't progress at Melbourne. Keep your eyes peeled.
