  1. MFC-listed. Outside-best 22 at the moment , is still developing but I did ask was it just you being younger and he said no, all the Casey boys found out how their game went on the weekend at the same time supporters did. He rightfully didn't divulge too much, but without using the words suggested their was disharmony amongst others that once you were at Casey trainings didn't involve you and you didn't feel part of the group. That would suggest your players have been given up on attitude may be right. I have been an enormous fan of the moves we've made but as mentioned above I do hope we get the 2nds blokes right too. I am so jealous of the Box Hill Hawks and Geelong VFL sides because they play the same system, they have competitive VFL players to support their AFL seconds players and they have excellent systems in place to manage the lower players. Hallahan and Lowden are examples that time in the 2s didn't discourage them. It motivated them. I still don't see this at Casey. Do any other teams have such confronting VFL reports as ours? I'm not asking that rhetorically.. Genuinely curious as to whether I'm the odd one out on finding this public commenting slightly wrong, if other clubs do it maybe it's just industry standard. I remember you saying Machsy, that you check out other clubs websites, do they do stuff like our reports?
  2. I was all for Allison's reports at the start of the year. The method of those reports was to say a positive of the game, and finalise each player with something they need to work on. Recently it's turned into public humiliation. The feedback the players are receiving on that, should be a one on one conversation and a general statement given to the public. Speaking to a Casey player, two weeks ago they did no in-house review of the weekend game. The only feedback they received was a paragraph on the MFC website. It is poor human management and it's completely unsurprising that no players are pushing for selection, they've got no guidance from above. Their senior coach hasn't attended a game, and the development coaches can't put together a post match synopsis for them. I love alot of the things this club is doing, but this is Neeldesque ignorance of the lesser players. It's a slippery slope to a discontent squad and I hope Paul has a closer handle of it than weeks gone by.
  3. Went on Saturday and asked a Casey official to point out Brett Allison as I had no idea what he looked like. He told me he didn't attend this game. Be interested to see what the report says.
  4. Can't help but think he'd be one of those players who just plays better in the seniors. Would be a lot easier to kick to a leading Hogan, Dawes, Watts or Frawley than Fitzpatrick or small crumbers trying to lead up. Hope he gets his chance.
  5. I see Salem alot like Chad Wingard. Maybe not as much freaky talent, but feel Salem is smoother. Regardless back on point, Wingard averaged 12 touches a game in his first year, only twice sub. Next year he upped it to 20 touches and two goals. I've seen enough in him that whilst he likely won't match that output, I've seen enough that I think he'll be a good player next year from the experience!
  6. Petracca is so so good overhead. He is like a built Nathan Fyfe and I can't think of a better comparison so anyone who's watched him more can override me. He's both inside & outside, as mentioned he is exceptional overhead both on the lead but more so in congested marking situations, and has a great eye for goal. I know the body shapes are completely different but I think he's a built prototype of Fyfe. I'll be so so disappointed if we overlook him.
  7. Stretch is very deserving of a third round. If we take Durdin at pick 3 or 4 I will explode. Championships have uncovered a serious lack of ball playing ability. Reminiscent of a Wakelin or Alipate Carlisle.
  8. Really liked number 9 from Vic Country as a later pick.. Can't remember his name, potentially Butler
  9. It's one thing to cop public criticism externally like you do at AFL level but to publicise internal criticism for players who aren't yet playing the highest level is a joke. I Can only hope one day I come across your boss documenting your failures as an employee. I Doubt the players give one hoot when the likes of Robbo, Connolly etc drop their 2c on player worth, but when your own coaches publicly question your worth there's something wrong. I'm glad I don't look at life like you Don.
  10. I spoke to two players who did ask me to swear anonymity, but they said it was difficult to be criticised so publicly from VFL level. Was also told Roos hasn't attended a single VFL game this year.
  11. Don't ask Saty, even though Neita said there was a disconnect, he heard that everything is perfect! Just kidding. Seriously, was an amazing ep and he's a great bloke. He's always sitting level 3 and 4 at every Dees match. He still Bleeds Demons and I couldn't respect him more.
  12. Classic trade down draft this one. In the NBA, NFL they'd be doing deals to move down spots and pick up prospect players from other teams. All the talls projected to go early are enormous development picks. I can't see one of them having an impact at AFL level early days. It still staggers me how we landed Jesse who not only has potential to develop more, but is so AFL ready. None of them are having any success dominating the Championships against boys their own size, how they'd produce against men bigger than them is beyond me. My footage is limited to only a few TAC Cup games for Metro players and a few games from the Champs but more concerning is the lack of footy nous from the talls. McCartin, Goddard and Wright were all touted last year as giving us a talls super draft but not one of them fills me with confidence about their ability to demand the footy or lead to the right areas. Body work is okay by McCartin but poor by the others. Durdin from SA is the last one I want to touch on. Had a poor poor Champs and thankfully showed something on Friday giving some struggling teams confidence he's not a complete drop kick. Still, I think he's half the player Scharenburg is/was and you'll be using a much higher pick to get him. I like the look of Brayshaw and Petracca, the latter my preferred pick if both available but it's not the draft to set your club up for life. I hope we do something similar to last year and get in a good good young mid for our first rounder and try and gather a pick in the 10-15 range in return. Think there's some good hard running bigger body mids that we could take advantage of. Corey Ellis and Clem Smith would both be great downgrade options that should be available by than and allow us to pick up another player ala Salem deal! Can't wait for Billy though.
  13. Exactly. It's a ridiculous assertion. He's been in SA's best every carnival game bar one. For a HFF/wing that's quite an effort. I'm so sick of the drafting for potential attitude that has taken over the AFL over the past few years and Wines is a good example of trusting the footage of what he CAN do, not what he will do. Billy will be close to All-Australian, a chance at SA best player and is a diehard Dee's supporter and some people are worrying about 2nd or 3rd round picks... We've got exclusive rights to a beauty and the footage shows he'll be a good AFL footballer. Luck is starting to turn our way and we have 3 father son picks after next year that will hopefully lead us toward the exclusive 13th.
  14. Big game. Can't wait to see how Viney and Tyson bounce back after poor games. I see no reason why we can't beat their midfield and I rate our defense far more, it's purely who will kick goals for us that I'm worried about. I'm predicting us to win possession count comprehensively but lose i50s and hopefully take out the win by a small margin 2 goals in a low scoring game. Go Dees
  15. Saw Kristian Jaksch was at Dom Tyson's 21st birthday. Mingling with a few young MFC lads. I've heard Carlton offered him bulk cash, but they need the assets to get it done. Mail is they're willing to let him go home due to so many talks, and he certainly isn't against it.
  16. As I said, didn't know his injury status but that means he's a certainty to not play. Thanks.
  17. I would put decent cash on Clisby being in this week. Is he injured, surprised no one mentioned him but if there's more than 2 changes I'd say a certainty!
  18. He might look young, but you'll be shocked to learn he's turning 27 this year. He's the Marc Murphy, Dale Thomas, Josh Kennedy, Pendles draft. By 27, I think it's 99 times out of 100, safe to assume you have reached your full potential. In the 2012 JJ Liston, (VFL Brownlow medal) he polled 4 votes in the full year of footy. He'd played EFL for two years before that after not being drafted or asked to play VFL. Michael Barlow funnily enough was also born in 87 also played one year in the VFL, and finished 2nd in the same trophy a few years earlier. He's a good foot soldier at AFL level, he finds the footy and he runs hard, but he's just not a great footballer and in my opinion, the runs are on the board to suggest he won't be. He finds lots of the footy, but he's not overly damaging and he doesn't kick goals. For an AFL midfielder that doesn't bode well. No-one will be happier than me if I'm proven wrong though.
  19. I compare Matt Jones to Brent Moloney. Different people in life clearly, but similar footballers. Regularly pull together good stat lines, but both foot and hand skills over a short medium range 15-35 meters actually often leave the team at a deteriment. If I had a heat map for this season for MJ45 he'd get the most of his possession at about 65m out for opp. goal near the boundary line. It's reguarly a nothing kick to recieve it, and he often gives off a nothing kick to follow it. His defensive running is what concerns me the most though, watched him get run past by Ziebell about 5 times in 8 minutes. No body presence whatsoever. I note he gives his best for the club, and I have nothing but respect for him as a footballer but he's played 12 games now and we know what he has to offer. I'd prefer to see young blokes now like Michie, Harmes, Blease who are a bit rawer, but have a far higher ceiling.
  20. Robin Nahas!! Please, you're treating him like he's Jimmy Krakouer. The bloke got delisted by Richmond for christ sake. He didn't give Wingard 2 steps or Dalhaus when he towelled them up and they're far better players than Robin the joker. He played 4 good games in a row, and let himself down this week and got thoroughly beaten. I know Neville is a good footballer and trust him to rectify it next week which I'm sure he will... But he played poorly this week.
  21. Of course he doesn't. He's not going to be critical of players in a public domain, he will behind closed doors though. It's that attitude why this club has been rubbish. Justify a bad performance because last week was a good win. Last week we didn't have a team of world beaters, we had an average team that got lucky. This week, we had a below average team that was lucky not to get spanked. GWS after 12 rounds have a better percentage than us... All of us are theoretical shareholders in this 'company' and each one is entitled to his say, and just because you're happy with what the boss is saying doesn't mean it's roses. There needed to be changes to the team last week, we were absolutely smashed in so many areas of the game yet the notion of no changes suggested all 22 deserved their place from last week. It wasn't the case and it showed. Bail, Garland and Matt Jones specifically were weak weak links for now 2 weeks. In Jones' case his attitude to defensive running is as poor as I've ever seen. He takes a mark, than walks-jogs back every single time as if to slow down play so much that when we turn it over we're completely ****ed. Good on these posters, supporters, media personalities and hopefully coaches for not standing up for one good game a month. I'm sick of that rubbish.
  22. There was a moment in the 3rd quarter that summed up their battle. Dunn was kicking out from FB when Jamar set off on a lead towards the boundary in front of Goldy. By the time the ball travelled the 45 meters, Goldstein had levelled than run straight past Mark, who laid no body contact and took an uncontested mark. Kicked inside 50 resulting in a scoring shot. He can't play ruck single handedly for a whole game, he just doesn't have the tank. A great honest battler is Mark, but the mobile and agile young ruckman have gone past him. FWIW, Goldstein had more possessions, more marks, more tackles, more free kicks and less FK against, he lost the hitouts by 10 but they won the clearances comfortably, particularly in the 3rd quarter when it mattered.
  23. Jetta had an AA month, but Nahas had 4 scoring shots in the first 20 minutes of the game. He played 2 steps off him, something he hadn't done all year and it showed. His impressive tackling came from being led to the ball. Hopefully a better game next week.
  24. And on queue. So disappointed. Need a good hard look at themselves this week on the track. Do they want to be a team that steals a win occasionally or a good team. At the moment it's the former.
  25. Embarrassing skill errors. Too many players got tickets on themselves after AFL standard performances. Viney, Bail, Garland to name three of about 8. It's one thing to lose, but to give them the game is embarrassing.
