  1. Machsy. That said E25 was the best.. Mainly because of his avatar
  2. And for every Scully, there are hundreds of footballs on far below market value because they value winning over money. Adelaide would be willing to go pretty bloody close to what we offer, and GWS would I imagine be able to go past it. I'm not saying I'm not excited by the prospect of a player I consider top 10 in the comp and a superstar we've been looking for since the 90's, I'm just saying as good as Chook's mail is there's no way he's a 90% chance.
  3. Whilst I'm loving all this news I'm still at a loss of why Danger would want to come to Melbourne. Whether he wants to leave Adelaide or not, he's still 25, with a team at least in a premiership window with 2-3 years. We're 5 years away from the likes.. I'd have him in a heartbeat, but I need convincing that even if Adelaide said yes how we would sell to a player to come to a team who finished lower on the ladder than GWS with a quarter of the potential talent on it's list.
  4. Pleasant to see Mark Robinson actually write a good football article. Just quietly, I'm glad Mr Lloyd isn't my father.. God, my stomach was churning just reading those sessions..
  5. Gysberts than got us Pederson who if he follows on from this season could easily have the better career. It's a mess, but somehow we've won that trade.
  6. Brilliantly put. Interestingly, I found an article involving him and Stephen Milne where he was called a homo. In the first paragraph he goes on to mention that he has used all those words before too. http://m.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/milne-slur-no-issue-for-obrien-20120810-23zu5.html I think he's enjoying the notoriety that comes with being this high and mighty AFL player and frankly I can't stand him.
  7. Blasphemy! You'd never leave us Nash! But seriously, it's a contentious topic. In the thread, not one person would advocate the acts that Harris made, and not one poster wouldn't feel terrible for the victims of his selfish and disgusting crimes. The debate is raging whether the public outcry is justified for boys on their private Mad day out (yes, I realise he posted the photo and made it public but you get my point). I follow Dean and there were 100 likes and 10 comments, he made no mention of what he dressed as, it was an in joke between him and his friends, tasteless yes, but a crime no. It was the media outlets who bought up the names behind the costumes and had they kept their thoughts to themselves, noone would be the wiser and noone would be hurt. There is a lot of good that media does, but times like this, I'm often glad I have no sporting or acting ability and able to live my life completely free of cameras.
  8. Oh please. Players every week go into games completely injured and or sick leaving them at 60% of normal function. It's the coaches responsibility to decide whether to pick him. If he'd played sick and dominating you'd be labelling him someone who bleeds red and blue Whod do anything for the club. He was one of 22 players and 10 coaches who had the worst day of their career that day, if you judge his career on that, you're following the wrong sport.
  9. A lot to like about Barry?! Gotta be kidding. He was given a run with role and he seemed more in awe of Hill than doing the job. Couldn't even lay an arm across the chest to put on pressure. There's a reason Crowley and Macaffer are good, it's because they apply physical pressure. Hill simply outrun him too, he was flatfooted at nearly every stoppage. One tackle, very few damaging possessions and looked completely out of his depth. Michie on the other hand I thought ran hard and offered something.
  10. Another week and no Strauss. Yes, yes, he can't one on one defend you all say. I've watched Dean Terlich play 10 games this year as the single worst defender in MFC history. He's also close to the worst kick. I don't know if the bloke slept with Tammy Roos, but I really hope he gets another chance with a different team next year, I think he'll show alot more than we've given him credit for. There's not enough in's possible to fix the mess from last week. Gawn deserves, Michie deserves and I don't rate him but M Jones has worked hard so I guess you have to give him his spot back. Any of 8 could go out.. Just pick a number. Hawks by 46.
  11. Questions Surely have to be asked of Dawes at the moment. He's had a truly terrible month. His hands are horrific, he tries far too often to milk free kicks that aren't there and far far too often do midfielders look up and there's no target there. That's his job to be the next kick. Very disappointing. The other is Kent. By God he's selfish. Could've given off two certainties today and went for it himself. It's a really bad look. Thought Bail ran hard today and Jetta has been close to our best over the last 6 weeks.
  12. Whilst I trust you judgement on most things Saty, but you surely can't believe that even if Frawley had signed, he'd just tell you and tell him to keep it your secret from supporters and the coaching staff. I'm not suggesting he's signed elsewhere, I'm just saying I don't think he has any interest in playing for us next year, no matter what is on the table at the end of year.
  13. No sources are ever to be taken as fact. Franklin going to Sydney last year was the perfect example of how smoke and mirrors could take anyone, anywhere. I'm also not for a second suggesting to take what information I hear as fact, but this thread is 'good mail' and that's what I'm offering up, stuff I've heard from people who are in a position to actually know. I have absolutely no idea where Frawley is going, but I've been told MFC have approached the AFL asking if he is offered x,y,z what is our likely compensation. Whether it's to plan to on-trade, or work out if Malceski or another free agent would water that down, I haven't the faintest clue, but we have made the approach. Jaksch is the mail I'm most confident on, and believe he can add to the side. He was a pick 12, hasn't played much so I see his value holding around there if not a 20ish pick. If we can package him up with another good GWS mid for first pick (or compo) which will be in area of 2,3 or 4 I can't see how Carlton can beat that. Two players I've also heard that Melbourne have spoken to manager's of are Darcy Byrne-Jones a young kid who just got drafted to Port this year (yet to play a game) and Tim Membrey from the Sydney Swans. Not that it's incredibly relevant to this particular post but we all heard rumours that Tom Rockliff was tempted by Roos to come back to Melbourne for bulk cash. From the mouth of his manager they are absolutely rubbish and Tom would never play for Melbourne as he was told he'd 'certainly' be drafted by us if he was available at our last pick in the National Draft. We overlooked him, and than again in the Pre-Season after that and he said Tom, a country lad, holds a real grudge for us reneging on our word.
  14. Let's get it back on track. I have it on good authority that if we can satisfy the Giants Kristian Jaksch is keen to play for Melbourne. Both Tyson and Viney are key pieces in his decision. Carlton are super keen and the bidding will be against them. Good authority that Mitch Grigg will be hunted. He was interested in our approach last year but Adelaide promised him game time. This year he's been completely burned by them. Hoping mid 50's, Viv Michie style pick. Finally, I have it on great authority that Frawley won't be a Demon next year.
  15. To answer the question, at absolute best 1. When teams like Sydney and Hawthorn arguably have 5-6 A grade players in their particular position, it does speak volumes for how well we've done to compete this year. I think we have 3-4 players with 'potential' to be A-graders on our list, which bodes well for the future.
  16. What a waste of time that response was. If you don't have any interest in the topic, don't click on it and if you don't like what you read, don't add to the debate. There's always one poster who feels he is responsible for administering content and what is and isn't a good exercise.. Thank christ no-one monitors each of your 6,000 'gems' to this forum.
  17. There are very few sports in the world that don't give you a bye weekend. For AFL arguably one of the most physical it makes obvious sense to have 2 breaks. Extending the season one extra week doesn't bother me one bit and if it motivates the players and coaches to stop 'resting' guns I'm all for it.
  18. Jon Ralph is in Glasgow covering the winter Olympics, so I highly doubt that.
  19. Chris Dawes has to be a concern. The delivery was reasonable today and we had enough of the footy. He either comes and brings enormous presence or days like today comes and is appalling. Very frustrating.
  20. On way out.. Malceski is probably the starting HBF in the All-Australian team, and the best running defender in the best team in the comp. The position is our biggest deficiency and I think if we're able to keep Frawley and pick up Nick it will go HUGE areas into making us a good team next year.
  21. On another note, just Wikipediaed him and found this. I had never heard this and surprised more is not made from it. What a *ucking phenomenal bloke. Goes as follows: "On 4 October 2007, Cross and teammate Tom Williams leaped into the water of Victoria Harbour in Hong Kong to rescue a schoolgirl attempting to commit suicide. Despite the girl not wanting to be saved, they hauled her to safety after hearing bystanders screaming for help. When they emerged from the harbour they both had minor bruises and cuts. Both were reported to be in good spirits after the incident. Following the incident, both Cross and Williams were awarded certificates of commendation by Hong Kong's Director of Marine."
  22. Little confused. He originally signed for 2 years IIRC, he's been good this year but at +30, I don't know if we needed to extend his contract 18 months before it ends. People won't be knocking the door down for him.. I'm glad he's around next year for sure, but not sure he's best 22 Round 22 next year let alone the year after.
  23. Too separate things. If he didn't like the feedback, he'd say that. That's three people who have been told they regularly don't do VFL reviews, other than the MFC article. It's not acceptable, whether you try justify it as the players fault or not. Roos time coaching in 05 to now were different periods. It's not entirely ridiculous to think there are things he'll need to work on as coach too.
  24. Appreciate that Nut. Exactly sums up my point. I've looked up the Rd.2 VFL report and these are some examples: Mitch Clisby: Mitch played half-back/back-pocket all day. He had 22 disposals and had a good battle and worked hard with his direct opponent. Mitch has been focusing on the defensive side of his game in the last couple of weeks. He made some improvements this week. His ball use and decision-making was good over the course of the game. Jack Fitzpatrick: Jack played full-forward and had a couple of stints in the ruck. He had 12 possessions and kicked three goals. He led and presented pretty well during the day. Although he kicked three goals, he missed two other kickable goals. Jack contested well, but I’d like to see him contest more in the air and get the ball to ground level, so that the smalls can get to work, if he doesn’t mark it. Daniel Nicholson: Dan played half-back and on the ball. He did his best work across half-back. He ran well and took the game on with his legs. He broke the lines on a number of occasions, but his ball use let him down at times. If he can tidy that up, he could be in line for senior selection. The tone of these is helpful and it gives us an idea of what he needs to work on to be AFL. I don't understand why supporters who can't be bothered going to Casey need more than that. Simply knowing their deficiency gives me an insight and I feel the report here is worthwhile. James Strauss: James played half-back and had 21 possessions. He used the ball pretty well over the course of the day, but he was too loose on his opponent at times and he doesn’t pay them the respect they deserve. He needs to force as many contests as he can – one to defend and two to help us turn the ball over. Jimmy Toumpas: Jimmy played half-back and wing. He had 20 possessions. Again, this week, it was probably Jimmy’s ball-handling that let him down over the course of the match. Defensively, he gets caught out ball-watching or not joining in as well. Michael Evans: He played a run-with role on Jonathan Simpkin in the midfield. Michael had 23 possessions. While he won a bit of the football, I thought his opponent outpointed him on the day. Michael gets caught ball-watching regularly and loses his opponent. Michael Evans: Michael played midfield and had 13 possessions. He looked really flustered and distracted at times during the game. He was often by himself at stoppages, which is certainly not the way we want to play football. So he needs to really adjust that part of his game, if he wants to press for senior selection. It's gone from a general tone, to an aggressive attack and the one's underlined I think are excellent points for solid one on one conversations. They're quite belittling on a public supporter website. These players want to impress us as supporters and want us to be proud of them. These comments feed the troll posters and only add fuel to the fire.
  25. They were referring to him saying he watched the game on AFL360, but he later eluded to the fact it was on tape.
