Gerard Whateley on Petracca incident
Gerard Whateleyâs take on Petracca incident Apologies if this has been posted previously, but quite a damning article by Gerard Whateley on the duty of care that appeared to be absent last Monday. According to him, Collingwood players (Moore and Crisp) were concerned enough to ask Christian if he should be on the field. If true, this is a shocking indictment on our club and certainly does not help with the litany of other stuff that has been swirling about recently. Iâm beginning to wonder if our fitness program/ethos, whereby you build resilience by playing through injury has started to take its toll. It feels as though the players are being told that their mental and physical well-being comes before everything, yet clearly several of them are banged up. I wonder if this is creating disillusionment within the playing group?

As a bit of light relief for you allâŠwe were sat with the Demon Army today and my kids and I were enjoying getting involved with the chants. After the âM..E..L..BâŠ..â etc chant had finished, my 11yo daughter turns to me and says âThe Pies fans are quiet, because theyâre still working out how to spell Collingwood!â đ

POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
I got tickets thanks to @WalkingCivilWar and @praha tip-offs to email the Demon Army. Kudos to the DA, who made noise all game, despite what was being served up on the field. Very grateful to have got the tickets and my kids loved being among the cheer squad. However, it was annoying to see the top level of the Ponsford Stand only half full, despite no tickets being available. Apparently, Collingwood called it as a sell out last week?

Maynard unscathed
Kane Cornes is a prat, but heâs right that we were bullied. That handshake and the back slapping at the end tells you all you need to know. Itâs a poor look - we play this âhigher groundâ card, but it doesnât work.

POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
Very deflated coming out of that game. Not only was the execution poor, but unfortunately the effort was also missing from some players - they are either physically cooked or not fully there. Itâs odd, because until the Brisbane game, we looked good and dynamic - what has happened?! I canât see us making the 8 like this - we are getting bullied by teams and seem void of ideas. I also agree with previous posters that our list needs a major overhaul - too few players doing the legwork.

Jake Lever Out for a Month
Only a Melbourne player could cop a whack to the head and end up having surgery on his knee!

NON-MFC: Round 10
Yep - Tiges getting nothing. That 50 against Rioli was pathetic.

MelbourneFC.com.au Media Thread
Bumping this thread as the content on the official MFC channel has improved significantly over the past few weeks - perhaps no coincidence that itâs been since the return of Mme Petits Fours to the fold? Well done, team!

TRAINING: Sunday 7th April, 2024
Was that @WalkingCivilWar taking the money? I shouldâve said hi, whilst making her go back and forth for the Pepsi Max! Maybe we should have a designated Demonland area for those wishing to say hello?

PODCAST: Rd 03 vs Port Adelaide
H fellas - a couple of observations from me: - Iâve posted over the last year or so that we have looked heavy or under pressure in games: a stark contrast to 2021, where we played with freedom and flair. Whether this was the weight of expectation or not, we seem to have returned to a more joyous way of playing this season, which no doubt has contributed to our good start. - Hats off to Lingers, who is starting to return to his best. The last couple of games have seen the return of his gut running return and his defensive ability, helping the transition from the back line. A fit and firing Lingers is a joy to see!

Crowd numbers - my perspective
Why do they play Melbourne games at the 'G?! Because it's our home ground! Why do they let other teams play there is a more pertinent question. I actually thought 44k was pretty good yesterday, given the weather. The Shane Warne stand (where I sit) is always going to be emptier than the MCC, which was pretty full all around to the Olympic Stand, for Melbourne games. As an aside - we have a great view from our seats, but those sunny afternoon games early in the season are a killer!
