This is true, although there did seem to be a tangible shift in the way he played (attitude, commitment) at some point last year. I wonder if it was after the Entrecôte brouhaha ?

I have nothing but respect and admiration for Jake Melksham. Two years ago, I thought he was done and glad he hit the 💯 for the Dee’s. Then, when he did the ACL, he could have legitimately retired. Instead, he doubles down and gets back ahead of schedule. He is what our forward line is desperately missing: not just his kicking (although he’s a super kick), not just his contest (although he can lock down any key defender) but it will be his smarts and leadership which will help steady and form our young and rudderless forward line.

That was worse staging than May - imagine what Robbo and Buckley are going to say about this…
-
Yes - I don’t think they’re bickering. They just hate conceding and so dissect each goal with a robust discussion. The Lever-May relationship seems built on respect and honest feedback!
-
Absolutely! Great player: love his attitude - not fazed at all, just gets in there, with a grin. We’re crying out for these types, especially with Gus and Hibbo out of the picture now. As soon as he gets the confidence and knowledge to give himself that extra yard to get a shot away, he’s going to be elite.

Very encouraging signs last night from AMW, Kolt, Taj and Disco. What I liked the most is that they all seem to be ‘up and about’ types: love the contest, like a bit of chat, seem to really enjoy playing football together.
-
A really solid debut - exceeded expectations, I would say. He looked very poised for a first gamer and looks to have a bright future.

There are many parallels to draw between England FC and the Dees. Fantastic list on paper, but no rhythm and seem to play weighed down under a cloud of expectation.

Gerard Whateley’s take on Petracca incident Apologies if this has been posted previously, but quite a damning article by Gerard Whateley on the duty of care that appeared to be absent last Monday. According to him, Collingwood players (Moore and Crisp) were concerned enough to ask Christian if he should be on the field. If true, this is a shocking indictment on our club and certainly does not help with the litany of other stuff that has been swirling about recently. I’m beginning to wonder if our fitness program/ethos, whereby you build resilience by playing through injury has started to take its toll. It feels as though the players are being told that their mental and physical well-being comes before everything, yet clearly several of them are banged up. I wonder if this is creating disillusionment within the playing group?
-
But why though? What has changed since the beginning of the year, when the team looked full of zip, energy and fun?

As a bit of light relief for you all…we were sat with the Demon Army today and my kids and I were enjoying getting involved with the chants. After the “M..E..L..B…..” etc chant had finished, my 11yo daughter turns to me and says “The Pies fans are quiet, because they’re still working out how to spell Collingwood!” 😂

I got tickets thanks to @WalkingCivilWar and @praha tip-offs to email the Demon Army. Kudos to the DA, who made noise all game, despite what was being served up on the field. Very grateful to have got the tickets and my kids loved being among the cheer squad. However, it was annoying to see the top level of the Ponsford Stand only half full, despite no tickets being available. Apparently, Collingwood called it as a sell out last week?

Kane Cornes is a prat, but he’s right that we were bullied. That handshake and the back slapping at the end tells you all you need to know. It’s a poor look - we play this ‘higher ground’ card, but it doesn’t work.
-
Exactly right - you could point to 5 shots hitting the post, but all were from the pocket.

Very deflated coming out of that game. Not only was the execution poor, but unfortunately the effort was also missing from some players - they are either physically cooked or not fully there. It’s odd, because until the Brisbane game, we looked good and dynamic - what has happened?! I can’t see us making the 8 like this - we are getting bullied by teams and seem void of ideas. I also agree with previous posters that our list needs a major overhaul - too few players doing the legwork.

A new dawn for the Demons - our 2025 squad

Thanks for the tip-off, got 3 tix!
-
Thanks for the tip - have just emailed them.
-
Yep - just heard back.
-
Thanks so much - will give it a go!
-
Still looking for 3 x tickets if anybody can’t go at the last minute!
-
Yes - annoying. I’m now able to go, but can’t get any tickets at all, even with Trident membership, which I think gives access to GA tix for away games in Melbourne? Looks like it wil be a 100k blockbuster?
-
I have said this for some time, although I have to say that they looked like they were having fun earlier in the season. Before that, they spent ‘22 and ‘23 looking as if they had the weight of the world on their shoulders.

Only a Melbourne player could cop a whack to the head and end up having surgery on his knee!

Yep - Tiges getting nothing. That 50 against Rioli was pathetic.
