  1. From what I have observed over the past two seasons, our team seems to be playing under a heavy burden: there’s not a lot of ‘lightness’ around the place. I wonder if the culture agenda has been over-thought at the expense of players simply enjoying footy under a good system, as in 2021. I don’t hold out great hope for 2024 - I think the Clarry situation will not easily be resolved, in terms of him being back to his previous best. I know we’re not supposed to mention the war, but I think what’s needed for 2024 is a united team, playing with a bit of freedom.
  2. I honestly tear up each time I watch that. That was maybe the best goal I’ve witnessed in terms of the absolute limbs when he put it through. It was symbolic on so many levels: his Queen’s Birthday retribution (was it his last one?) and he cast off the massive weight on his shoulders - you could tell by the look on his face: part sheer exhaustion and part walking on air.
  3. Anyone who works in the care and teaching areas can make a huge positive difference to a child’s life. If you can inspire change and positivity in just one person, you have done your job.
  4. Yes - that’s what I understood as well. Less homesickness, but more wanting to see his family more regularly. If they are from country SA, 5 hrs out of Adelaide, then it would be difficult to get to games. I’m sure the club will now organise for his family to come over more, which is great for everyone.
  5. Sounds like the sort of thing someone says, that gets quoted back to them after Jake and Harry carve up every defence in the comp. Providing they can stay fit, I think they could be a fantastic combination: both young, aggressive players who like a tackle, can mark and kick well.
  6. Overs - not sure why people are keen to give Petty away so cheaply. Even if Petty was up for trade, McAdam shouldn’t even come into the equation.
  7. Why not? If he smashes it next year and signs, say, a two year extension to his current contract, his draft worth will be through the roof. I see what Cornes is saying, but his argument is flawed - especially when he suggests going after Gunston, as a replacement. Makes no sense - Petty is an emerging talent, Gunston is in the last year or two of his career and dropped himself last season due to poor form.
  8. That's now next year, apparently 😝
  9. They obviously don’t rate Petty that much.
  10. Arf Arf! 👏🏼
  11. Incredible insight from Tom: Petty hasn’t put a trade request in, although he did once go to school in Adelaide and his sister lives there. Although, he hasn’t put a trade request in, the Crows will still be interested, just in case the Demons do a complete 180 on a player they are basing their forward line around, next year. Amazing, Tom.
  12. Tom Morris managing to say nothing in as many words as possible, once again.
  13. Looking forward to seeing a photo of our Podcast Posse, decked out in their Sunday best! Any chance of a Roving Andy segment?
  14. Goes to show that there is no accountability in AFL “journalism” - absolute hackery and bulldust, where the instigators are never called out on their made up stories.
  15. Well, McQualter has just left Richmond to go to another club…
  16. Do yourself a favour and never listen to this: it’s literally a waste of life.
  17. Ah - thanks for clarifying!
  18. I thought he is an UFA because he was delisted?
  19. More than 1800 accredited AFL journalists according to RMIT website.
  20. Putting aside the reasons for our poor exit from Finals (we know what they are), the AFL media landscape, in my opinion, is at an all-time low. The media view of the game is often so far away from reality and incisive opinion, that it's no wonder coaches like Goody, Chris Scott etc give it such short shrift. The histrionics around the Maynard incident, blown up by an actively encouraged tabloid media is what passes for football journalism today. Of course, the AFL are delighted, because it means more exposure and coverage for them. Meanwhile, 3rd rate hacks can spew whatever opinion they like - it doesn't matter how wrong they are, because the attention will have shifted in a day or two. I recently went to an event, where the Age's Jake Niall was the guest speaker. It was pretty interesting, but the thing he said that stood out for me was that the consumer decides what they write. By this, he meant that the algorithms generated from online reading/browsing now determine what type of article will be written. So - even though a Martin Flanagan-type piece may have way more craft, truth and research behind it, it will be rejected in favour of a Tom Morris/Tom Browne style gossip/shock horror article. I'm super glad for the @Demonland podcast - it's the only footy media I listen to now: everything else I switch off - even when I watch games on TV, I put it on Mute. It's actually incredibly relaxing, instead of having to listen to half cocked opinions by loudmouth meatheads, who wouldn't have a clue. In the end, trust what your own eyes are telling you: with regards to the MFC - you (the supporter) know better than most.
  21. The Blues were flopping about all game - it’s a bad look and I don’t like it when our players do it.
  22. Agreed - one of those players who seems to have time on the ball. Also, having the defensive side to his game is a big plus as an offensive player. I wonder if he has enough tank for a wing position? Also in favour of giving Rivers more time in the middle.
