  1. I’ve been trying to listen on the radio, but the commentary/stand-up comedy routine is doing my head in.
  2. Is there any chance Harmes may get cited for his almost sling tackle on the boundary in the last quarter (I think it was)? Hopefully not, but very hard to second guess the MRP.
  3. I have in the past suggested to Admin that it be added to the list of blocked words.
  4. Hardly the dogs' fault... Trac made a mistake and stepped in when he probably would have been better throwing a bucket of water on them... he also should have sought medical attention immediately. Hopefully he learned a valuable lesson.
  5. It certainly is... pets are for life.
  6. How Melbourne supporter-like.
  7. Well, the Don does have his eye on the prize I suppose... the Nobel Peace Prize. It’s just a matter of whether or not he can contain himself for long enough.
  8. This is the third time since 2004 (or was it 2006?) that the North and South have had "meaningful" discussions and taken significant steps towards a lasting peace. The first two times saw hostilities quickly renewed and I see nothing that gives me any confidence that things will be any different this time. Kim Jong Un is a loose canon and is likely to back track in no time flat and similarly, Donald Trump is just as likely to change the whole scenario with a couple of badly timed and ill thought out early morning tweets.
  9. I don't disagree with any of that... however, we don't need to start slashing our wrists the moment the team puts in a poor performance. I like to believe that this current team is big enough to take a lesson from that performance and turn it around. I feel that tomorrow's game is one that we can win.
  10. And what happened to Hawthorn on Sunday... lost to North by a tad under 5 goals... I suppose the Hawks' season is done now and North are premiership contenders. The point I'm making is that the first 5 rounds have been so lacking in consistency for just about every team, that it's nigh on impossible to judge where any team will end up the season on the ladder. We lost to the Cats by less than a kick, we beat the Lions reasonably comfortably despite falling asleep, we break a 17 match hoodoo comfortably beating North by approx 6 goals, then we stumble against the Hawks (who, let's face it, we have a history of stumbling against) and all of a sudden our season is over... knee jerk reaction is an understatement! Let's look at a couple of examples of teams who, by the standards expected by some posters in this thread, will be joining us at the bottom of the ladder: The Swans lose to both Port and Adelaide at home, beat the Eagles in Perth, comfortably beat expected premiership contenders the Giants and only just get over the line against the Bulldogs. Port... destroy the Dockers in Perth, beat Sydney in Sydney, only just beat the Lions in Adelaide, get comfortably beaten by the Bombers in Melbourne and get comfortably beaten by the Cats in Adelaide.
  11. Adelaide were useless, but regardless of the opposition, the Pies ball movement was stunning. Hard fast low kicks with pinpoint accuracy, good fast hands and excellent rucking from Grundy who ended up with over 30 possessions.
  12. Two of Brown’s goals were from gifted frees NOT involving OMac, so he had just two goals scored against him. Why do you think Brown spent so much time in their defensive half? It was the only chance he had to win possessions. Sure he still has the occasional brain fart, but I am mystified at the bad raps give to OMac (and Wagner for that matter).
  13. Seriously, I cannot understand why some get so outraged. It has no bearing on Max’s rucking ability and no bearing on how he is perceived by his teammates or opposition... so what’s the big deal? An incompetent journalist? It’s not as if a new species has suddenly been discovered; it’s a part of the job description.
  14. I went to the Hawks v Toigs game on Sunday, and if they play like they did then, we will hammer them. Sure they'll have Sicily back, but even he couldn't have saved them on Sunday. I'm looking forward to this game and have a feeling we may win reasonably comfortably.
  15. Umm, the opening/title post in this thread only contains a link to that article... so yes, it was raised already.
  16. The amazing thing is that he managed to do it without drawing blood. Having said that, I cannot believe that he only got 3 weeks.
  17. Warner and Bradshaw have long been favourites of mine.
  18. Is there training at Gosch's on Friday? I looked on the MFC site and they only have Wednesday listed. My son and I are heading down tomorrow afternoon for Saturday's game and are hoping to catch a training session.
  19. If I hear the “holy trinity” used one more time, I’m gonna...
  20. Agreed. Pedersen busts packs and pressures opposition players and by doing so creates many loose ball opportunities. A low possession count does not tell the whole story as far as he is concerned.
  21. And therein lies the crux of the matter. Experience is a great teacher... but you learn nothing without going through those experiences (that is essentially what you are saying above). Give the kid a break (pun not intended).
  22. From a then young Scully’s point of view, I doubt very much that it had anything to do with big bucks and selling honesty and integrity down the sewer. We are talking about an 18 year old kid who was probably afraid to tell the truth because he was afraid of causing Stynes more pain. Have you never told a white lie so as not to inflict needless hurt? If you want to point fingers and hate on people, then go for the people that were truly responsible; his father and his management. And I have no idea how political correctness managed to sneak into this. Anyway, that is my take on things and as far as I’m concerned, it doesn’t make me any less of a supporter of this team (as was insinuated in another response I received) that I have been following unerringly for nigh on 60 years. I’m prepared to give a person just starting out on his life, the benefit of the doubt. I’m certainly NOT prepared to take pleasure from that player suffering a very severe injury.
  23. I probably wouldn’t lie now, but when I was 18, it may have been a different story; I would be torn between lying to make his life a little less stressful and telling the truth and giving him one more thing on his plate that he just didn’t need. As I said, try placing yourself in the shoes of an 18 year old with very little real life experience.
  24. I thought it was absolute rubbish myself. Try putting yourself in the shoes of an 18 year old who is torn between lying or telling the truth and not knowing which will be the more hurtful. People have so overreacted to that series of events and are now showing their true colours with their nasty spiteful comments.
