  1. What do we know about Lisle? He has only played a handful of games for the Hawks this year (5?) and apart from taking a good number of marks in a couple of games (15 vs GC and 10 vs Pies), he has kicked one goal and not amassed very many possessions. Yes he is 196cm and 92kg and yes he has kicked 30 goals in 20 games with Box Hill, but does that qualify him? Also worth noting that as well as being relatively unproven, he was only pick 50 in the 2008 draft, so we shouldn't be offering up too much for him I would think.
  2. The only teams that should have banjo in their club songs are Adelaide and Port Adelaide!
  3. I would argue that yes, you cannot just tell an introverted kid to change, but an introverted kid may well come out of himself as he grows more confident in his abilities. I've watched it with my own youngest son who has always been very shy, but this year as he realised he has some good footy skills and was doing well in his Auskick sessions against bigger kids, he has started to be much more outgoing and as a result has more belief in his own ability, resulting in his skills improving at a more rapid rate. As I said before, I think the kids that may be more problematic are those who have an over-inflated view of their abilities and don't want to listen to advice.
  4. Yes, if Neeld is the hard man they say he is, then Col will not be shown much love if he continues his hot and cold ways. I'm sure Neeld is well aware of this issue and would not be at all surprised if he hasn't already had a few words. Col would become a real weapon if Neeld can manage to get him to perform to his potential on a weekly basis - Brownlow material even. A word of caution... saying Col is one of the better players because he managed 10th in the Bluey won't cut it with a number of posters here; just look at the "experts" thoughts on Green who was just one place behind him in 11th.
  5. The only thing I saw in that Demonology thread that I liked was that morphing avatar
  6. Not sure what you were reading DA, but there is absolutely nothing in my post that alludes to anything like you seem to be suggesting I'm talking about. I was talking about their view of themselves in a purely footballing sense. I couldn't give a rat's about what they look like or what they get up to in their spare time (well, within reason).
  7. Well, I guess it can work both ways. Do you want a kid who is convinced he has all it takes and doesn't want to learn? Sometimes, to quote Nick Lowe, you've got to be cruel to be kind. And I have no objection to kids with an opinion of themselves as long as they can walk the walk.
  8. Chewy?? Bubblegum, please! :-) My son got a few footy cards with his Auskick pack recently.
  9. Actually, if Chad's unavailable, perhaps they could slot in Paul Madigan and the Humans? he could serenade the Fat Controller with "You're a Pri@k!".
  10. I don't mind it actually... it means they can identify individuals who may need a more personalised approach in order to bring out their best. It also doesn't hurt to have those with over-inflated views of themselves and their abilities, knocked down a few pegs. For some, it may be just the wake-up call they have been in need of.
  11. And he lacks vision: "No point luring a 28-year-old if he is done and dusted when they are their real premiership window in three years." I'm of the belief that a 28 year old is what we need to help guide our playing group so that we are well positioned in that premiership window.
  12. No, it was me who suggested Nason actually - I also suggested Farren Ray, Goddard and Dawes; and I stand by my suggestions. Nason didn't have a great 2nd season (I believe he had some issues with his shoulder maybe?), but his 1st season was not too shabby at all for a first year player - 225 possessions and 14 goals, I know you seem to be into the hard at it, physical style of player (Bennell must drive you crazy), but I believe there is also room for smaller players that bring different skill sets - and it has been suggested we do need a good crumbing forward. Ridicule others all you like, but in the wash-up it doesn't matter what any of us here think as it all comes down to what the brains trust at the MFC want and what they are prepared to give to get it.
  13. Based on what? We all come across as tossers in the Twittersphere and he hasn't touched his website since early this year. On the couple of occasions I've met him, he has come across as a fairly unassuming and decent person.
  14. From those lists, I think Nason from nthMond, Farren Ray, Kozi and Goddard from StK and Chris Dawes are all worth consideration - I used to think it might be worth pursuing Jesse White, but I'm not so sure about that anymore after some of his "passenger" like performances with the Swans this year. On a slightly different tack, I see that Ling is likely to announce his retirement... is that code for "going to GWS"?
  15. Have to admit to having a soft spot for Burl ever since I first heard his version of the Dylan song "I'll be Your Baby Tonight". I know I've said I'd prefer contemporary Australian talent, but if I was to choose one act from any place and any era to play the opening song as a lead in to a GF, it would be Elvis Costello and the Attractions doing "Pump it Up".
  16. Goddard would be a nice pick-up but hard to see it happening. Of the others mentioned by the OP, the only one I would like to see us make a play for would be Ray.
  17. Grimes will be a great player for the MFC; absolutely no doubt about that! However, to suggest he be given a co-captaincy with Trengove in 2012 is wrong in my opinion. However good both of these players are, it is still far too early in their respective careers to be suggesting captaincy and Grimes in particular, needs to put in at least a full season where he remains injury free before he should be considered.
  18. Perhaps all he needs is some "tough love"...and hopefully Neeld may be the person to provide it.
  19. Well I'm fast approaching 60, and I for one would much rather have contemporary Australian acts performing. But if they have to insist on going offshore and retro, then hell, at least get something that is half decent and none of this MOR rubbish... With 500K to throw around Dimitriou could sign up someone like the Brian Setzer Orchestra.
  20. I really don't care how good or how bad he was (yes I did see his performance and unlike the loafer, he could at least still hold a tune), the fact of the matter is, he is irrelevant. What is so hard about providing something contemporary and something local (and I don't mean INXS)?
  21. The "poor guys" NEVER done well. Pomp rock stunk first time around and and doesn't smell any better 30 years on! Pity he didn't stay in his death bed (or should that be "tone deaf" bed) rather than subject us to that rubbish. It's about time the AFL provided entertainment relevant to the times rather than supporting hacks like Mr Loaf and Mr Ritchie.
  22. That's a bit harsh... his performance last week was the reason they were even in the GF. He certainly wasn't Robinson Crusoe when it came to Pies players going missing when it mattered. Hawkins played a great game and kicked a brace, but he was still pretty woeful in front of goal when he had the chance to bury them.
